Becoming a Monster-Chapter 65: Gods Warning
Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Gods Warning
Noah acknowledged that both he and Arachne still had progress to make before leveling up, so he refrained from checking their status. However, he couldn’t shake the nagging thought about Fenrir’s lack of progress. Despite Arachne being his first beast, Noah was determined not to let his attachment to her cloud his judgment. He understood that Fenrir was like a nuke compared to Arachne, and he recognized the need to bridge the drastic gap in their strength.
To address this, Noah began giving the orbs to Arachne, hoping to bolster her abilities and narrow the power difference between her and Fenrir. Despite his efforts to close the gap, Noah still harbored a desire for Fenrir to continue growing stronger. Fenrir’s recent demonstration of usefulness reaffirmed Noah’s belief that Fenrir could compensate for what he and Arachne lacked.
Unable to ignore it any longer, he felt compelled to check Fenrir’s status, needing to know how close Fenrir was to leveling up to ease his mind.

Noah took some time to process Fenrir’s experience. emerging from the space where he checked his stats. Despite not being upset, Noah couldn’t help but feel disbelief that Fenrir was likely just one zombie away from leveling up. With the impulse to find something to kill so Fenrir could get that extra bit of experience, Noah surveyed the field of debilitated corpses, causing a small chuckle to escape his lips. He felt a comedic sense of irony, here he was asking for my monsters to fight while others were doing everything in their power to avoid them.
The situation left him peeved as a result, his beast accomplishments were celebrated just as much as his own, which left a sour taste in his mouth knowing that Fenrir was so close to becoming stronger and yet this monster-filled campus wasn’t delivering on the monsters. To distract himself, he slowly made his way toward the chest that had appeared, hoping to make up for the distaste with good loot.
As he prepared to open the chest, a voice spoke loudly through the air, the same godly voice that had granted him his new life before. Without hesitation, Noah cleared his mind and focused intently on what the being had to say. Subconsciously, he regarded the warnings and ominous speeches of the divine being as gifts of fortune sent from the heavens. In his perspective, only good things came about whenever he heard that voice.
"HUMANS, YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A CHANCE! I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED FROM THE ADVANCES YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THUS FAR. EVEN WITH WHAT I HAVE GIVEN YOU, YOU HAVE SHOWN ME THAT YOUR DESIRE TO LIVE AND TO GROW STRONGER AMOUNTS TO LESS THAN THE CREATURES YOU FELT SUPERIOR TOO.
THERE WILL BE A CHANGE SOON, AND IF NOT FOR ONE OF YOUR KIND HAVING TO PASS THEIR LIMITS JUST NOW, I WOULD NOT BE GIVING YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE YOUR FATE!
ONCE AGAIN, PROVE TO ME THAT YOU DESERVE TO LIVE, YOU HAVE THREE DAYS! THE CREATURES OF THIS REALM AND YOUR MINDLESS COUNTERPARTS ARE BREAKING THEIR LIMITS AND HAVE MOVED UNHINDERED.
SHOW ME THAT YOU TOO CAN CONTEND AGAINST THEM. IF NOT, THEN IN THREE DAYS YOU WILL KNOW TRUE SUFFERING!" I WILL NOT CONTINUE TO LET YOU REAP FROM MY BENEFITS WHEN YOU DO NOT DESERVE IT!"
Though the voice had vanished, a wave of despair swept across the globe, plunging hearts into crisis. ’What does he mean, change? And how do we show him?’
Countless thoughts and discussions ensued, yet most fixated on the urgency rather than the necessary action. Few considered the significance of a human surpassing their limits, a notion that intrigued Noah.
’I wonder what did that person have to do to pass his limits? Was it surpassing a certain amount of stats? No... I don’t think that’s right...’
Noah pondered, tapping his chin in thought. Arachne, noticing his contemplative mood, knew he had a habit of taking his time to unravel mysteries. Taking advantage of the moment, she quietly approached the hefty zombie she had been eyeing. The zombie’s appearance didn’t hinder her appetite, in all likelihood, its enormous proportions only signified as a bigger meal in the spider’s eyes. With the meal close in sight, she was careful not to attract Noah’s attention before hastening her pace.
"!"
"Hiss!"
Before Arachne could enjoy her meal, a werewolf, oblivious to the concept of "my kill, my meal," greedily devoured half of the zombie, resulting in the sounds of bones crunching and blood gushing in its jaws. Arachne protested with hisses, darting toward Fenrir and prodding his legs with her many appendages to gain his attention. With half of the zombie hanging from his mouth, Fenrir glanced down at Arachne, puzzled, his predatory eyes turned docile under her presence, reflecting confusion at her sudden aggression. "Why are you attacking me?" he wondered.
Their lack of understanding each other’s intentions prevented easy communication, unlike Arachne’s basic rapport with Grim. The hissing had distracted Noah, prompting him to look over to see what was happening.
"Sigh...Fenrir!"
At Noah’s exasperated call, the two instantly stopped. Fenrir, caught off guard, let out a strangled whimper, its jaws slacking from Noah’s reprimanding tone, resulting in the zombie blob to plummet to the ground. Instinctively, his tail was brought under him and tucked between his legs. Arachne hissed triumphantly, feeling that justice was served, and was about to make her way to the body when she heard Noah say something that will give her nightmares.
"Arachne, I need you to share that one with Fenrir, just this once, I have the feeling that it would help him level up."
"!"
Arachne felt betrayed, she turned to face Noah, silently, and judgingly, she stared in his direction. She thought that perhaps Noah wasn’t in the right stat of mind and wasn’t aware of the forbidden taboo, she hoped her "kind" gaze would make him aware of his mistake. And yet, no matter how much stared, Noah never showed the slightest inclination of turning around. She saw him leaning over, his moody face deep within his own thoughts.
While Noah was lost in contemplation over God’s imposing message, all Arachne could perceived was that Noah’s attention was on the chest. The same ones that she witnessed Noah get excited over every time and forgo all the tasty food around him, just to bring out things that she couldn’t eat.
’That stupid box.....’
Resigned, Arachne watched as Fenrir, now eagerly wagging his tail, devoured half of the body before she could enjoy her own meal in peace.
As the two creatures finally reconciled, Noah’s persistent pondering over the deity’s words bore fruit, and a realization dawned on him. ’Wait, I’m not thinking as a gamer...when it comes to games with a job system, there should also be class advancements when you reach a certain level. I’m sure that’s what he did, but what level was it?’
Noah’s thoughts reached a point that left him satisfied. There was no use for him to overthink it. He would just have to continue grinding like he’s been doing.
He went to finally open the chest, slowly opening it to "guarantee" that he got something good because of its quality grade.
Noah’s excitement bubbled over as he beheld the abundance of gold and the glowing attribute orbs nestled within the chest. These orbs, which he enjoyed receiving the most, promised to enhance his abilities further. After the substantial spending spree he’d indulged in at the shop, coupled with the lingering regret of not being able to purchase more, Noah couldn’t help but wonder if he would soon develop the same attachment to gold that Arachne had to food.
With anticipation coursing through him, Noah fully opened the chest, revealing two attribute orbs. One orb, larger in size than the others and radiant white, signified spirit, while the smaller orb shimmered with a serene blue hue, representing magic. Although Noah harbored a desire to share the orbs with Arachne, he couldn’t shake the feeling that these particular orbs would be better suited to enhancing his own abilities for the time being.
[+5 spirit]
[+2 magic]
Noah wasted no time in utilizing the orbs to bolster his own abilities before turning his attention to the next item in the chest – a skill scroll. While the average person might have been thrilled to receive such a rare find, Noah’s reaction was more subdued. He already found himself struggling to manage the plethora of skills he possessed, but he decided to inspect the scroll nonetheless, just in case it offered something of value to his arsenal.

Noah found himself uncertain whether the skills were worth rolling for. It wasn’t that the skills themselves were bad, it was just that Noah had never entertained the idea of pursuing an assassin build, and the thought of whether there was a limit to the number of skills he could acquire lingered in his mind.
’Screw it, if there’s a limit then it would suck, but if there wasn’t, then I would be foolish to pass up on skills that can potentially help me. Let’s roll for it! If I can get stealth then it would be worth it.’
[Skill Elusive confirmed, would you like to learn it?]
Noah clicked his tongue in annoyance, feeling a surge of hesitation about accepting the skill. However, the name "Elusive" stirred a flicker of hope within him, suggesting a potential connection to agility. With a sigh, he mentally confirmed his acceptance of the skill, his mind clouded with anticipation and anxiety. Soon after, the information about the skill flooded his mind, allowing him to read it with bated breath.
[Skill, Elusive(lvl 0) obtained- Fully intune your mind to control your body, giving you the reflexes of an expert assassin, agility stats are increased by 25% for one second. Consumes stamina for each time activated. The consumption is increased for each use used in succession.
Noah’s smirk widened as he contemplated the potential of the newly acquired skill. Despite his current stat limitations, he envisioned the skill’s effectiveness when combined with his spider abilities once he returned to his peak condition.
He then took out the last item that caused him to frown.
However, his mood soured as he retrieved the last item from the chest. "Another bow? Can I at least get arrows for Christ’s sake?" he grumbled, his frown deepening as he inspected the bow. Despite his initial disappointment, he couldn’t deny that the silver and grey metal construction, adorned with wire instead of string, gave the bow a more impressive appearance than his previous one. Curiosity piqued, Noah wondered about the bow’s power, but ultimately decided that if it looked better, it deserved a place as a replacement for his old one.
Noah, already pressed for space in his bag after acquiring the shield, realized he’d need to make room by discarding his old bow for the new one. As he reached for his bag, intending to retrieve the old bow, he was suddenly interrupted.
"Uh...Hey, excuse me. Can we talk to you for a second?"
