Becoming a Monster-Chapter 321: Envoys of Judgment
Chapter 321: Chapter 321: Envoys of Judgment
Noah’s Soulspawn coldly watched the two envoys take one step, then another. It was at that third step that the two vanished.
The spawn’s instincts shot higher than it’s ever been. Danger suddenly was alerted on both sides of it from above. Its two sets of eyes found it hard to look in both directions. The distance the two envoys took between each other, and the spawn was set perfectly, forcing a blind spot the spawn couldn’t cover.
In tandem, seven glowing swirls of energy manifested themselves around the envoys’ figures. These energy masses were small, but the aura levels released were just as potent as a fully charged mana sphere from the spawn. Feeling the energy amassed, the Angel couldn’t help feeling even more disdain for the sacrificed couple. Their sins were even stronger than she imagined.
The energy masses then released beams, beams from both locations that moved with such speed that the path which it traveled became a temporary vacuum.
The beams instantly pierced into the spawn’s body without the slightest chance to react. Each beam went through it, penetrating through the floor. The entrance of the hole it created was almost unnatural, as if the beam evaporated the concrete and tile altogether.
The spawn didn’t stand a chance. Yet, the moment their attacks landed, the two envoys turned, seven orbs returned again as they shot out in a different direction. The spawns’ illusion had no effect on the envoys, whose ability to trace negative aura was unparalleled.
The confrontation led to the spawn trying in earnest to avoid the attacks, its eyes gleaming with frustration. Each eye moving sporadically to pinpoint a way to counterattack.
That was when each of its pupils intensified with a glow different from normal. The attacks of its movement became more direct as the beams appeared to purposely miss it. Its entire appearance gradually was taking on a new form as it moved while glowing in a spectrum of different hues.
It was using everything, from its buffs, down to its transformation. But most importantly, the energy that he was gifted by the entity came with not just a higher intelligence. The transformation ability ’Demented Reckoning’ became one with the soulspawn, enabling it to fully incorporate the ability with its body.
It wasn’t just the dreadbeast, the spider and the Abyssal characteristics that significantly changed and enhanced its body. Its armor turned almost entirely violet, only the outer part of its exoskeleton was still the same darkness as before. It wasn’t just different in color, it became denser, slicker, an exoskeleton that was the peak of evolution.
Bristled fur, no different than blades, grew from around the center of his torso, a thick mane spouting down its spine. These blades of fur were probably even more protective than the hardened exoskeleton that incorporated its body, placed in a position that guards its most vulnerable areas.
A pair of overly long appendages shot out from its back, and at the same time its original appendages expanded, the lower two legs piercing into the ground that propelled it at a speed that was beyond supernatural.
The envoys responded with actions devoid of any expressions. One of the envoys merely turned in a random direction, a shield of energy materialized, covering the area it was facing. The moment the shield was raised, an object suddenly appeared, colliding into the shield that created an invisible shockwave that spread throughout the entire room.
The invisible shockwave created fractures in the building’s foundation while all glass in the vicinity instantly shattered.
The envoy, despite bracing, was forced backwards through the air. The golden shield flickered but still remained steady. However, whilst it was flying backwards, the shield broke apart, shooting the same seven beams like before, beams that the spawn anticipated as its body slightly maneuvered to continue its pursuit.
But then the spawn’s body twisted in the air. Its appendages shot out behind it to intercept an attack from the second envoy.
Two blades of divine energy struck onto the legs. The blades weren’t able to breach the spawn’s hide, and yet it still elicited a roar of pain as a burning halo formed around the point of contact. The flames weren’t just flames that caused physical pains, the flames burned at the energy source of its target, the higher and more condensed abyssal energy, the stronger the effect.
Despite the searing pain, the spawn didn’t fall back. Instead, it retaliated with a flurry of attacks. With six appendages and two arms flying at the envoy, the envoy merely conjoined the blades together to form a shield, the same as its other counterpart.
The envoys seemed to be fully aware that pure physical strength wasn’t the way to defeat the devil, avoiding direct contest of strength as much as possible. And the spawn now understood.
However, its illusion was of no use, it’s abilities that relied on subjugating zombies were of no use, and its magical form of attack was rendered useless. It couldn’t form mana spheres at the same speed of the envoys, and the envoys prevented it from being able to amass a powerful attack as before.

Watching the spawn put on the defensive, Fenrir and the others fidgeted anxiously, wanting to move, but their earlier interaction with the spawn gave them inhibitions. They had clearly felt it, the rejection, the obvious warning that the battle was its alone.
Even so, they couldn’t sit still. As they watched the spawn time after time again being subjected to different attacks. Their thoughts were concerned with the one who made them, who cared for them.
And out of nowhere, when the spawn was about to be attacked by the first envoy, one who created a spear out of the same divine energy. Its body suddenly turned, reforming its weapon into another shield as an energy blast collided into it, blocking its figure in a cloud of debris that was created from the blast.
The spawn simply glanced back as it fought weaving its way around another set of beams to see Kratos appear in front of the other envoy, hand formed to stab through its formless face.
The spawn wasn’t able to see the outcome, but seeing Kratos coming to its aid didn’t elicit the same response as before. A flicker of acknowledgment was forming.

Seeing Kratos suddenly rush to the spawns’ aid when they were too hesitant to move, suddenly triggered a chain reaction. Both Fenrir and Arachne looked at one another, their eyes wordlessly coming to agreement before they took off in the same direction as Kratos. If they couldn’t fight alongside the spawn that was using Noah’s body, then they would at least alleviate the burden.
Eve was next to move, after her transformation, she felt that she could finally rise to the occasion and fight alongside everyone else instead of standing around as a bystander. Her eyes gleamed with an excitement and ferocity that shined with an ignorance to how strong the envoys really were.
She began to move. Diablo responded to her will, already ahead of the little vampire who was still naive about true danger. He wasn’t sentient enough to prevent her from going, but he was bound to her in a way that even if she were heading to her death, he would gladly die with her, making sure that his life was spent protecting hers until the very end.
But before she could even get far, a shadow suddenly loomed over her. Three eerie eyes full of vengeful malice surged within them.
Instead of fear, the little vampire looked up into those orbs filled with hatred and questioned.
"Mama...?"
Not once did Eve feel that Ava’s resentment was being directed towards her. It wasn’t just Diablo, but her faith with Ava was just as strong.
Ava didn’t say anything...It was impossible to know if she just wasn’t able to or if she was still hiding the possibility that she could. However, her hand slowly reached out, similar to how a mother would when beckoning for their child’s hand.
Eve’s reaction was slow, yet she still reached out to the outstretched hand. And the moment the two hands connected, black mist seeped out of Ava’s body, the same negative energy from the same presence that placed itself inside Eve’s grimoire. Eve’s body responded in kind, the same mist slowly rose from her figure, forming a bride of energy at their hands that formed a channel that soon made the sporadic mist turn thicker as it slowly enshrouded the two until they were both fully enveloped by the mist.
During the last moments before their figures disappeared behind the mist, Eve’s eyes were reflecting the same hatred as Ava’s.
"At this time...she chose now to do something." Ailetta, the only one left to rush to Noah’s side, was watching everything. Ava’s actions should have worried her, but seeing Diablo no longer moving, just standing motionlessly beside the mist, unflinching, as if he didn’t doubt Ava’s intentions and was merely waiting for them to finish.
Ailetta’s eyes only narrowed in scrutiny, but the rest of her eyes were centered on everything else going down, anticipating and planning what to do next.
From what she could see, even if Noah were to fight against one envoy, she didn’t see him winning, not the way he was now. But together, maybe they had a chance of succeeding.
