Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Black Gold Ironclad Crab

Logan Quinn nodded. "Let us focus on what we can do. If he can fair with the Black Gold Ironclad Crab, then we have a chance to hold the line."

Back on surface, hope started to rise among the defenders with the high-level mages and mid-level mages rallying.

But for Luke, the battle had barely begun.

The weather forecast for the Magic Capital predicted cloudy skies with occasional sunshine.

But now, the drizzle and overcast gloom blanketed the Bund, creating an eerie and foreboding atmosphere.

The grim scene only amplified the terror of the invading Kraken horde.

The Crimson River was swarming with tens of thousands of Kraken, led by the grim-faced crabs.

Standing out among them was a massive commander-level demon: the Black Gold Ironclad Crab.

The thirty-meter monstrosity brandished its dark-gold pincers with a menacing aura, their sharp edges rippling with space-distorting energy.

Its pitch-black eyes were embedded in a grotesque, humanoid face carved into its armored body, and its bone-spurred shell gave it an appearance that made even the bravest hesitate to look directly at it.

Initially, the sight had filled the air with terror—screams echoing as chaos broke loose.

But soon, folk mages arrived, and their courage in facing the Kraken gave civilians some hope.

A dozen high-level mages formed a defensive line, holding the grimace crabs at bay.

Then, as if summoned by their collective will, a majestic figure appeared in the sky.

A Skywing Wolf, its azure form radiant and imposing, soared over the battlefield.

"Dad, that blue wolf is amazing!" a young boy exclaimed, his eyes filled with wonder. "Can I have one someday?"

The boy’s father chuckled, his face serious as he patted his son’s head.

"Kiddo, that’s simply dreaming now. One day you might catch a frown crab, but to catch a Skywing Wolf? That’s fit for the heavens themselves."

His father said while the boy frowned, "No, more, it’s the pride of the heavens."

The father really worshipped that thing. For him, the Skywing Wolf was a holy guardian, something too far and beyond reproach.

Luke, in his Skywing Wolf form, turned his head towards the boy as he heard the conversation.

Grinning sharp fanged, he seemed to affirm the father.

The Black Gold Ironclad Crab fixated its pitch-black eyes on Luke, and they turned ominously crimson.

With a sudden burst, it sprang into the air; its enormous pincers aiming straight at Luke.

Luke barely had time to react.

"Wow! Now, that’s a nimble, fat crab!" he muttered, watching the enormous body fly towards him so agilely.

The dark-golden pincer had black patterns running all through it, and even the atmosphere trembled as it slashed through it.

Although the Lord Crab was fast, it missed, and with a bold flap of the mighty wings, the father half-glimpsed the opening as he took off once again.

Was that all?

With a horrible roar, bone spurs lining the mouth were fired toward Luke in deadly succession.

Luke reacted instantly.

A fiery glow built within his maw, heat radiating outward as flames gathered into a fierce, concentrated attack.

Demon Spell—Burning Sky Golden Flame—Flame Roar!

The firestorm erupted, melting the bone spurs into nothing more than slag. The flames continued their path, surging toward the Black Gold Ironclad Crab.

The crab raised its enormous pincers defensively, secreting a fire-resistant liquid that coated its shell.

As a Kraken, it had an innate resistance to fire, and its defensive prowess was among the highest of its kind.

While the flames didn’t do much damage, the resulting heatwave incinerated hundreds of grimace crabs nearby, clearing the area around the Black Gold Ironclad Crab.

Enraged by the attack, the Black Gold Ironclad Crab’s eyes glowed brighter, and it began to spit out a torrent of purple bubbles.

Bubbles, in their tens of thousands, rose against the sky radiating a sickening shine.

Each bubble contained highly corrosive poison, about capable of melting off the flesh on contact

In fury, the crab spewed forth a cloud of darkness that covered the already dull sky, filling the battlefield with a poisonous mist.

Luke was unimpressed.

"Now you’re blowing bubbles? Demons everywhere should be ashamed," he sneered.

Disregarding the deadly bubbles, Luke began collecting energy anew in his jaws. This time, flames swirled with more ferocity.

Advanced Demon Spell—Burning Sky Golden Flame—Flame Vortex!

A fireball formed and spun in a vortex, compressing layer upon layer of fire energy, and, once A Luke let it loose, there was an explosion that turned the bubbles into harmless ashes in a micro-moment.

This display of power left the mages on the Bund aghast.High-level mages who had been fighting valiantly against the grimace crabs were left speechless.

"They were never documented to wield such destructive magic. If this is a mutation, then what? If this is some kind of possession, then some history must have been altered?"

Meanwhile, mid-level mages cheered at the display.

"Hell yeah!" a mage shouted. "That wolf’s on our side, right?"

Back on the Bund, Marissa Jones turned to Zoe Miller.

"Zoe, we should start clearing the grimace crabs that have seeped to the shore and protect as many people as possible. We need to save as many as possible."

Zoe bathed in satisfaction with her nod. "Okay. Tina, just stay around us. Don’t go around wandering off.

But Tina Baine was too high on emotions to comprehend any of this.

Tears streamed down her cheeks as she watched Luke fight the Black Gold Ironclad Crab.

"Why did Luke jump into the river?!" she shrieked. "There are just too many demons! No matter how strong he is, he can’t singlehandedly take on all of them!"

"Tina! Calm down! Marissa held her by the shoulders, shaking her a little.

"But he’s—"

"Listen to me," Marissa interrupted her, her voice authoritative. "Luke is stronger than you think, and you have to trust him."

Tina held back, trembling as she noticed her hands.

"Do you trust him?" Zoe asked softly.

Finally, after a long pause, Tina nodded.
