Beastmen Love-Chapter 185: A Corrupted Mind

After King Freyd arrived in Dark Moon City, he walked by, and everyone knelt in submission to him as he walked. The people are gloomy, carrying the faces of people who are always mourning for someone’s death.

The people are happy enough to see that the King has an oddly good sense of humor. When he arrives at his castle, he orders to call Juno to him. Juno is as big as he is, has pale brown skin, and long dreadlocks that go down to his waist. His eyes have red irises, but his pupils are bigger than normal and look like deep, dark wheels.

"Welcome back, King Freyd. Was it that easy to destroy that growing tribe?" Juno asks, with his deep voice.

"I didn’t destroy it. Bono was building it for us. It’s a great place to put females and slaves who will produce our wealth. I want you to be the leader there to make sure no one will take what is mine." Freyd says.

"I see.. I’m impressed he could build a place that took your interest this way."

"And there’s more. He was lucky to find doctors and merchants, and the best of his findings was the most perfect female I ever met. She will be my Queen. I just didn’t bring her because she was pregnant. She’s small, but being a bird, her belly can handle any size of nest. She wants to be mine by her own free will, she treats me great. I already want to come back and make her mine all day. She’s so delicious I could even eat her if I didn’t want to be inside of her so much." Freyd says, looking in love but laughing like a maniac.

"I’m happy you found a female who will bring you many nests. This will be very important." Juno answers, not really caring.

"Order to build a huge nest with fine tapestries. I want to have her in all ways that I can imagine."

"Yes, my King. Anything else?"

"Yes, be prepared to leave with your army. In a few days, a messenger will come to tell me that my Queen is ready for me. You will come with me. I’ll take her and you stay there."

"What are they producing over there?"

"Clothes and medicines. After you make it bigger, I want all females to be taken there. Here will be only my Queen."

"Thy will be done."

Almost ten days passed after Freyd arrived, adding to the 4 days of travel, he’s getting angry because no messenger came to call him to go take Astri.

"Maybe she died in labor? Even being an eagle, she might not have handled the pregnancy." Juno sighs, annoyed with Freyd’s bad humor.

"She was perfectly healthy! If she died, they did something to her!"

"Or did other females eat her? Being an eagle is still more dangerous than being a dinosaur."

"I ordered no one to touch her. If a female killed her, I’ll skin her myself and make her beg to be killed." Freyd says, growling and destroying everything in his sight.

After venting out on another male, a pterodactyl lands near them and shifts to his human form.

"Who are you? Why were you allowed to come here?" Freyd asks, because he didn’t recognize that male.

"I’m sorry to interrupt, my King. I was sent here by Leader Bono of Daern’s Tribe. I bring a message. Your Queen, Lady Astri, she’s waiting for you."

Freyd opens a big, sick smile.

"That’s very good news."

"And I also have a message from Lady Astri. She said: You promised me to come as soon as I called you. Please, keep your promise. I’m waiting for you."

Freyd chuckles.

"See, Juno? My female is fine and desires me. We’re leaving right now. I just can’t wait to be between those beautiful legs." Freyd happily says.

"Yes, my King. As you wish." Juno says, walking away and screaming orders to prepare their departure.

It’s been four days since Astri had Lee’s eggs. Astri is feeling healthy and good, so she decides to meditate under a tree to check on how things are going in the United Tribes. Bono sent the messenger one day ago, but he hasn’t arrived at Dark Moon City yet. Bono sees Astri meditating, with Kangki and Claud on her sides, getting closer to her; he could see that the energy around her is now visible. It’s like a glistening layer of waving energy around her.

"What is she doing?" Bono asks.

"Visiting the United Tribes." Claud answers.

"How.. Is that possible?"

"Her mind travels there. Only she and I are capable of that. Kangki too but he can’t talk to anyone." Claud answers.

"Talk?"

He sits and watches Astri. She smiles without opening her eyes.

"Hello, dear father-in-law." They hear her talking.

Shung was patrolling with his son, Yank, Xzan and Dante when he heard her voice on his head.

"Astri?" He asks, stopping walking.

"Yes. It’s been a very long time since I last talked to you that you can’t even recognize my voice." Astri answers.

He chuckles, Xzan and Dante stepped closer like hoping they could hear the echo of her voice.

"It’s been long indeed. Last time we heard from you was when you were living in this Daern’s Tribe. How’s your pregnancy?" Shung says.

"I had Lee’s eggs four days ago. We’re waiting for them to hatch."

"Oh, congratulations! Lee must be so happy."

"He is. It’s cute watching him around the eggs. How’s everything over there?"

"Peaceful. Some ferals tried to climb our walls two days ago, but Nature’s Shield threw them away."

"Nature’s Shield. I love the name." She chuckles.

"Tell her we’re waiting for her to come see the things we built for her." Xzan says to Shung.

"I can hear you, Xzan." Astri answers in Xzan’s mind, in Dante’s and Yank’s, too.

They feel their hearts jumping to their throat.

"A-Astri? It’s so good to hear your voice again." Xzan says.

"Can you hear me, too?" Dante asks.

"Yes. I’m sorry for taking so long to talk to you. Last time I talked to you all was so long ago."

"Don’t worry. You needed to save your energy to stay healthy for the pregnancy. We’re happy to know everything went well." Xzan smiles, happy that she worries about them.

"We built you some things. We want to show you." Dante says.

"Great. You will show me when we go back. It won’t take long."

She tells them what happened until now and how she convinced King Freyd to come back for her, and that Bono already called him to come take her, but everything is set to take him down.

"Are you sure you will join this fight? We’re not there to save you again." Xzan says and she chuckles.

"I’m not planning to move a finger. Bono will defeat Freyd, and Juno is not as strong as my spouses, especially together."

"You better take care of yourself. You need to stop putting yourself at risk like this." Shung angrily says.

"Don’t be angry, dad. I was a bit traumatized, but I was expecting him to be filthy like that. It’s an occupational hazard."

"Don’t come talking with hard words. You have to promise that you will never do something like this again."

"All right. I promise!" She laughs.

"Please, be safe. We need our Goddess back." Dante says.

"Goddess." She snorts. "All right, my head is hurting a little after talking to you this long. Please be safe, healthy. Keep studying. Miss you. I’ll talk to you when this is over."

"We miss you too." They say, together.

They don’t hear her anymore and sigh.

"I would have banned that female who betrayed them." Xzan says, pissed.

"Last time we talked, she said they have very few females. It’s risky killing a female if their existence is at stake." Shung says.

"Still! Better to risk growing their people than having someone you can’t trust." Dante says.

"You’re right. But remember that Astri knows things we don’t know. I only hope no surprises appear and make her having to fight like last time. She might not have the same luck to have someone to catch her." Shung says, starting to walk again.

"That’s why we should have gone with her." Dante whines.

"No. She trusted us to take care of the greatest City in the world. This is going to be the home she will always come back to, and it needs to stay as special and balanced as when she’s here. It’s a great honor to be trusted this way. Her spouses are strong and will not risk leaving her alone under any circumstances anymore." Xzan says.

"I’m not saying it’s not an honor to be here and doing what we’re doing. This anticipation of not knowing how things are going there is killing me."

"I understand... It’s not easy to sleep, worried about her. And now that this battle is approaching, I don’t think I’ll rest as well as before."

"Be positive. Your energies spread in the air somehow, and she will feel it. Being positive is better for her. Spread good energies for her." Shung says.

They smile and nod, agreeing that it is better to think the best will happen and that soon everyone will be back.
