Beast World: The Villain Baby Is Not Conforming to the System!-Chapter 277: You Owe Me
Yu Manman looked at him and sighed inwardly. Zhou Yanfeng was indeed courageous; otherwise, he wouldn’t have become one of the male leads.
Zhou Yanfeng reached out to Yu Manman in a gentlemanly manner, "Miss Yu Manman, may I have this dance with you?"
Yu Manman remained motionless, "Sorry, I can’t dance."
She wasn’t lying about this. Since elementary school, she learned things quickly, but she was uncoordinated and couldn’t dance at all.
Even if she could, she wouldn’t want to dance with Zhou Yanfeng.
She adhered to a personal doctrine: stay away from male and female leads to stay safe.
Zhou Yanfeng wasn’t angry. "Alright, I won’t bother you."
He took a sip of his drink and rejoined the crowd.
Soon, Cruz approached Zhou Yanfeng, looking at him skeptically, "What were you doing with her?"
"I wanted to see if I could handle her..." Zhou Yanfeng shrugged, irritably saying, "But it seems like she holds some hostility towards me."
Hearing this, Cruz sneered, "You think she’s as shallow as Mu Yaoyao? Your looks won’t confuse her."
When Mu Yaoyao was mentioned, a cold gleam flashed in Cruz’s eyes.
If it weren’t for Mu Yaoyao, how would he have been caught up in a public scandal? The Zhou family used to rely on them, but now that the Hilo family’s reputation was tarnished, the Zhou family started to soar...
Ha.
"Don’t worry about that Yu Manman!"
After all, Wu Yingyue had already drugged Yu Manman, and it would only be a matter of time before they controlled her.
It was said that the Yu family had a good doctor, but even if they found it, it wouldn’t matter. By then, the damage to her Spiritual Sea would be irreversible.
Cruz didn’t believe Lai could find a drug without side effects that could repair the Spiritual Sea!
That Yu Manman... it’s just her bad luck; being born into the Yu family was her misfortune.
Cruz thought that anyone connected to Yu Manman’s family always seemed to have bad luck.
Over a decade ago, the suppressant market was divided by Rest Pods, and the Guan family’s schemes were all dismantled. The Flynn family and Bona Vik, whom they supported, had no choice but to give up...
Glug, glug.
The sound of a wheelchair rolling over the ground came.
Hearing the sound, Cruz raised an eyebrow and looked up at the middle-aged male Beastman in the wheelchair.
"Uncle..." Zhou Yanfeng looked at him.
Zhou Na sat in the wheelchair, his entire demeanor gloomy, and his right lower leg had been amputated, leaving it empty without a prosthetic.
"Who is he? Why don’t I remember him?"
"Oh, he seems to be Zhou Na? I thought he was already..."
All eyes were on Zhou Na, with many whispering softly.
"Why are you here?" Cruz looked down at him with his hands in his pockets.
Hadn’t he been hiding away from people? Why did he suddenly come out?
The old man of the Zhou family furrowed his brows deeply when he saw Zhou Na.
"What are you doing here?"
The old man’s feelings about this son were very complicated.
Decades ago, he would have felt proud if he had a smart son, but now, he only felt disgust and guilt. No, now even the guilt had worn away, leaving only disgust and a desire for Zhou Na to disappear.
Zhou Na looked up, meeting the old man’s eyes, and sneered, "What? My nephew is getting engaged, and as an uncle, I can’t attend?"
The old man of the Zhou family looked at him coldly, saying nothing.
Zhou Na ignored the old man’s cold look, turned his wheelchair, and looked at Zhou Nan and Wu Yingyue, "Congratulations."
"I don’t have much to give, so I’ll give you this house." Zhou Na took out a set of keys, "I bought it with my own money when I was young. There’s nothing wrong with it, so I’ll give it to you as a gift."
"In case you have nowhere to go, at least you have a house..."
[My money, at least it came from a clean source.]
Yu Manman looked at Zhou Na; he indeed knew something.
"Zhou Na!" The old man reprimanded in a low voice, "What do you mean by that? Stop being sarcastic here! Do we owe you anything? If you’re going crazy, do it at home!"
"I’m going crazy?" Zhou Na looked at the old man, "Yes, I’m going crazy!"
"You do owe me!" Zhou Na scoffed.
[If it weren’t for you, would I have been in a car accident and become disabled? I could have had a bright future!]
Back then, the old man was wary of him, afraid he would overshadow him, so he arranged a car accident for him!
The old man’s face turned ashen.
He clearly told people to be careful back then, only intending for Zhou Na to take a break, but who knew... his other son learned of his plan and had Zhou Na hit into the ICU. He was in a coma for days, and when he woke up, he had been amputated.
And his leg wasn’t even to the point of needing amputation; it was his other son, out of jealousy, who bribed the doctor to amputate it without permission.
He felt guilty then, but Zhou Na’s repeated outbursts wore down the last bit of familial bond and his guilt! 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
[He’s always blaming me! What right does he have to blame me? I’m his father! And besides, I already cruelly sent my other son to Undersea City, isn’t that enough? Am I supposed to pay with my life?]
Yu Manman listened quietly to their heartfelt thoughts, her gaze shifting toward Zhou Na’s leg.
Zhou Na was indeed pitiful.
"Grandpa, Uncle..." Zhou Nan interjected to ease the frozen atmosphere between the two.
"Take it." Zhou Na glanced deeply at Zhou Nan.
[He’s lucky. His father is afraid he’ll end up like me, telling him nothing. It’s better this way; even if the Zhou family falls, it won’t drag him down too much. Unlike me back then, hesitating and harming myself!]
Back then, he was involved in many family affairs and discovered his father’s actions. He secretly warned his father to stop, but his father wouldn’t listen and scolded him.
On one hand, he had the father he respected and the vast Zhou family; on the other, his conscience.
He was torn and, after realizing his father planned to remove him from the company, felt both heartbreak and a sense of relief, so he pretended not to know and let fate take its course with the car accident.
But he didn’t expect the accident to nearly take his life, nor did he expect to become disabled because of it.
[I might as well have died back then!]
Yu Manman’s gaze shifted.
Zhou Na knew the old man of the Zhou family wanted to harm him?
"Thank you, Uncle."
Zhou Nan accepted, not quite understanding Zhou Na’s look.
Zhou Na said nothing more and had someone wheel him away.
As he passed Yu Manman, Zhou Na glanced at her, his gaze carrying a complex mix of emotions, seeming like guilt, pain, and helplessness...
He couldn’t bear to see the Zhou family fall, so he remained indifferent.
But he wasn’t ruthless enough, so he languished in daily agony.
