The Snowy Owl landed and scooped the weak-kneed Xue Zhu into its arms. Patting her head, it chuckled, "Don’t... be... afraid!"

Xue Zhu froze, then snapped her head up to see a young boy, about seven or eight years old, with silver hair streaked with a few brown highlights and golden eyes.
