Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 384 - 383: Only Your Family
The local cubs were flabbergasted. ’Is this Snow Leopard for real?’
The other two just had to follow suit. They didn’t just roll around on the spot; they stomped through the mud puddles. Even the Snowy Owl came down for a mud bath.
"Come on up, we’ll play with you," the local cubs said, calling a halt to the antics with amused smiles. They saw Zhi Le leaning against a distant tree trunk, arms crossed, just watching his cubs speechlessly without a word of protest.
The three little ones had none of the pampered fussiness of the city cubs. They were fun-loving, cooperative, and surprisingly knowledgeable. Once all the cubs got to know each other, they had a great time playing together.
As the sun rose higher, a group of Beastmen approached from a distance, with a few half-grown cubs in tow.
"Let’s get out of the way," the local cubs said, their expressions changing the moment they saw the newcomers. They pulled the three Snow Leopard cubs aside with them.
Even so, when the group reached them, a female parrot cub dressed in colorful feathers frowned. Looking at the muddy ground, she stomped her foot in anger. "Brother, look at them! They’re treating this road like it’s their own home."
"There’s mud everywhere! How is anyone supposed to walk?"
The adult Beastmen walked on as if they hadn’t heard a thing, but the half-grown cubs and several guards remained.
"You lot, get over here and eat this mud. If I’m in a good mood, I’ll reward you with some Crystal Pearls to play with," said the Black Monkey Cub, who was only about eleven or twelve. He stood with one hand on his hip, toying with a few beautiful Crystal Pearls in the other. Chin tilted high, he looked with contempt at the group of filthy cubs. "If you won’t eat it, fine. Just wipe it all clean with your faces!"
"That’s right. One Crystal Pearl can buy two eggs. We’ll consider it your hiring fee," the female parrot cub added, holding her nose and refusing to budge.
Xue Zhu couldn’t help but ask the little gray rabbit female next to her, "Hua Shi, what’s a Crystal Pearl? I’ve only ever heard that on the Central Continent, things start at Level 6 Crystal Stones. I’ve used Level 4 Crystal Stones in the workshops in Border City, but I’ve never heard of Crystal Pearls."
Hua Shi whispered back, "The more low level a Crystal Stone is, the larger and more unstable it is. Crystal Pearls are polished down from Level 6 Crystal Stones. A single Level 6 Crystal Stone can be made into ten of them."
’So that’s how it is.’ Xue Zhu nodded in understanding. Because she and her brothers were so young, their Mother always had them swallow Level 8 Crystal Stones for their Cultivation. "And they have the nerve to offer those things?"
"You talk as if you have a lot of Crystal Stones," the female parrot retorted, her cheeks puffed out. "Whatever. If you don’t clean this up, I’ll tell my Father to have all your Fathers who work in the fields sent home! We’ll see if your Fathers don’t beat you black and blue then!"
Xue Bao frowned. "The road isn’t narrow. There are only a few mud spots on one side. You could easily walk around them..."
"I like walking on the right side! Why should I have to go around just because you dirtied the path?" the little female declared, full of self-righteous indignation.
’Aren’t they just blatantly looking for trouble?’
Xue Bao was about to say more, but the cubs beside him pulled him back. They whispered anxiously, "Xue Bao, stop. They won’t listen to reason. You guys just wait here; we’ll go clean it up."
Just then, Zhi Le, who had been resting with his eyes closed while reclining on a thick branch of an old tree, heard the commotion below. He turned his head for a nonchalant glance, then took out a pen and paper. With a few quick strokes, he wrote a note and slipped it into the shared space he had with his little female.
The cubs had just finished cleaning the ground when the female parrot cub—of some unknown breed—started clamoring that her clothes had gotten dusty. She demanded that the female cubs there blow on each of her feathers one by one. But before they could, she insisted they had to rinse their mouths, wash their hands, and chew on mint leaves.
His own little female, unable to contain her curiosity, used Teleportation and landed right in his arms, just in time to overhear the demand. ’Wow, what kind of family raises such a pretentious cub?’
Zhi Le lazily hugged the invisible Si Shuo. Shielded from view by the leaves, he gently nuzzled her soft, fragrant neck.
Si Shuo, tickled by his nuzzling, hugged his waist and laughed silently. When it became too much, she gave him a little kiss.
As his soft, warm, and fragrant little female tried to appease him, the gray-blue of Zhi Le’s eyes deepened. He pressed her head toward him and kissed her fiercely, looking like he was on the verge of taking things further.
But while the two were lost in their moment, a ruckus had already erupted among the cubs.
Xue Zhu had somehow been kicked into a ditch by a male hippo cub. Covered head to toe in mud, she let out a wail of pain.
Xueqiu and Xue Bao’s eyes instantly turned red with rage. With low growls, they lunged forward. Even the Snowy Owl flapped its wings, clawing at the other cubs.
The other cubs were stunned for a moment before launching a vicious counterattack.
Although the city cubs were older, some having even reached Level 4 or Level 5 cultivation, the Snow Leopard cubs had undergone special training with their Father. They were somehow managing to overpower their opponents.
Even Xue Zhu, once she recovered, lunged forward and bit the female parrot cub’s ear. "What’s there to show off about? Just because you live in Beast City and your Father’s a petty officer in the Beast Soldier Camp?"
"Haven’t you ever heard that there’s always someone better out there? If my Father is stronger than yours, does that mean he gets to dispose of you as he pleases?"
The female parrot cub shrieked in pain, flailing her arms to hit Xue Zhu. "OW! Let go! That hurts like crazy... Ah, I’m bleeding! It hurts so much! She’s going to bite my ear off!"
A nearby guard rushed over, his face grim, and moved to kick Xue Zhu. But the Snowy Owl, which had been keeping a close eye on her, let out a sharp cry and swooped in, knocking the guard to the ground.
"You—you’re an adult Beastman! You can’t get involved in a fight between cubs!" the local cubs shouted. They didn’t dare make trouble, so they stood to the side, clenching their fists and suppressing their anger, ready to run for help at a moment’s notice. But when they saw the guard join in, their shouts became anxious. That was a Level 8 Beastman, after all.
"Heh, sorry to disappoint you, but they’re not adults yet. They still have a year or two to go, so why can’t they join in?" the Black Monkey Cub said smugly from behind his protectors. "Even if the adults show up, all they can do is watch! Hey, you! Let go of my sister right now, or I’ll have every single one of your little friends crippled!"
Xue Zhu pressed her teeth against the female parrot cub’s neck, baring her fangs in a low growl. "You started this. And now you’re ganging up on us, the older picking on the younger. You threaten people’s livelihoods on a whim and talk about crippling someone’s cultivation. Vicious Beastmen like you don’t deserve to live comfortably in Beast City."
Freed from the bite on her ear, the female parrot cub finally quieted down, trembling with fear. "I-I didn’t want to cause trouble. It’s just... you’re clearly male cubs from the city, but you ignored me to play with these lowly suburban cubs. I was just upset... Please don’t bite me... It hurts..."
Xue Zhu let out a laugh of pure anger. ’That’s her reason?’ She narrowed her eyes, pressing her teeth a little deeper. "You know us?"
"Y-yes. There aren’t many Snow Leopards in the city, especially a trio of cubs your size. The only ones are from your family... And, um... I haven’t been promised to a mate yet..." Suddenly, the female parrot cub grew shy and started acting coy.
