Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 354 - 353: Who Has Such Great Naming Skills?
The Snowy Owl eagerly devoured the grilled fish in a few bites, then rubbed its head against Xue Zhu.
"Haha, alright, I know you’re still hungry. I’ll go get you something to eat right now!" Xue Zhu laughed, tickled by the nuzzling.
Si Shuo grabbed some of the roasted meat she usually used to feed Yin Jiang and handed it to her daughter.
Xue Zhu took it with a grin, tearing it into pieces to feed to the owl. "Brother Xue, you have to tell me if you’re not feeling well. My Mother knows how to treat illnesses; she can heal your injuries.
Or are you just tired from flying today?"
The Snowy Owl acted as if it didn’t hear her and just buried its head in the food. When Xue Zhu was slow to tear off more meat, it even let out an impatient chirp to hurry her along.
No one could figure the owl out, so they eventually left to do their own things.
Ji Liang was at a loss for words over the Snowy Owl that was freeloading in his room and refused to leave. In the end, Zhi Le and Zhi Qi moved its nest into their room, placing it next to Xue Zhu.
It would have been one thing if the Snowy Owl stayed in its nest for a day or two, but it had been five or six days straight. No matter how Xue Zhu coaxed it, the bird only reacted to food. The rest of the time, it was either dazed or just lying in its nest.
Si Shuo gave it a special examination but found nothing wrong, aside from it having gotten a little chubby from being spoiled.
"I think it’s just being lazy. It must have seen Yin Jiang being fed by the kitty and decided to freeload in its nest too, making my daughter wait on it!" Zhi Le hit the nail on the head. But with the girl and the bird, one was willing to spoil and the other was happy to be spoiled. What could be done?
Whenever he so much as reached out a hand, his own daughter would give him a stern look, as if he were bullying that silly bird.
Seeing Zhi Le’s frustration, Wei Ce laughed silently and uncharitably. The Little Golden Eagle was his future son-in-law, after all, while this Snowy Owl was just his daughter’s spirit pet, yet it still left Zhi Le helpless.
Si Shuo also enjoyed watching the fun. The Snowy Owl’s nest became a daily must-visit spot for every member of the family.
They were all curious: how long could this bird hold out just for food!
The joyous days flew by, with the only dull spot being the time Yin Jiang spent incubating the eggs.
Si Shuo was still nestled in Wei Ce’s arms, burying her face against the living doll, feeling incredibly happy. But then, she faintly heard two soft chirps. "Brother Ce, have the Hunting Falcon Pups hatched?!"
She quickly chewed a Dust Cleaning Talisman, got dressed, tied up her hair, and was about to run, but the moment her feet touched the floor, they felt sore and weak, and she almost fell. Wei Ce caught her and pulled her into his arms.
He chuckled softly. "Shuo, you’re making me very proud."
Si Shuo playfully punched him. "Hurry up and take me to see the babies!"
The two little ones had hatched in the middle of the night and were now covered in fluffy white down. They couldn’t stand steadily, wobbling and occasionally tumbling over. With their eyes closed, their young, urgent chirps carried far and never seemed to stop.
Yin Jiang held a piece of rare beef, tearing it into tiny pieces and feeding them bit by bit.
Si Shuo leaned in to watch, occasionally pinching off a piece of meat to feed the babies as well. ’This... feels just like feeding birds at a petting zoo. My maternal instincts haven’t quite kicked in for them yet.’
Once the babies were full, they quieted down and snuggled together.
Xue Zhu’s eyes twinkled. She ran to the next room to play for a bit. After a while, when Uncle Yin Jiang went downstairs to eat, she scurried over, scooped up one of the babies, and presented it to the Snowy Owl. "Brother Xue, look! Uncle Yin Jiang was incubating eggs, and two baby Hunting Falcons hatched! Aren’t they adorable?"
The Snowy Owl seemed slightly excited at the sight of the Hunting Falcon Pup, bobbing its head nonstop.
"Even Uncle Yin Jiang got up to go eat. Why don’t you get up, too? I don’t mind feeding you, but if you don’t use your wings and legs for a long time, they’ll atrophy..." Xue Zhu lectured the Snowy Owl for a while, then stealthily returned the Hunting Falcon Pup.
But alas, the Snowy Owl still wouldn’t budge from its nest, and Xue Zhu was at her wit’s end. In her heart, the Snowy Owl was her friend, so she was unwilling to use her Beast Taming superpower on it.
"Father, what do I do? Brother Xue still won’t come out of the nest," Xue Zhu went to Zhi Le for help.
Zhi Le had been holding it in for a long time. Finally, his daughter couldn’t take it anymore either.
He pretended to be calm and raised an eyebrow. "That bird is just tricking you for food. Ignore it. The more you pay attention to it and coax it, the more it’ll act up. Let it go hungry for a few days. You won’t even have to call it; it’ll come down to eat on its own."
Si Shuo also nodded. "That’s right, Xue Zhu. You’ve reinforced the wrong thing. It’s learned that as long as it doesn’t come out, you’ll bring it food."
Seeing that her Father and Mother both said so, Xue Zhu clenched her fists. "Okay! To make Brother Xue more diligent, instead of lazy and greedy, I... I have to be strong!"
And so, everyone stopped paying attention to the Snowy Owl and instead gathered around the two Hunting Falcon Pups, discussing what to name them.
This time, seventeen people participated, and the suggestions were so chaotic there was no clear direction. In the end, Si Shuo made the decision to determine the Hunting Falcon Pups’ names by drawing lots.
The male chick was named Yin Xiao, with the hope that he could soar ninety thousand li, live the life he wants without being burdened by the world, and have his own ambitions. The nickname was... Kunzi!!??
’Which kid came up with such a rustic name? Why not something like Rocky or Tiger?’
The female chick was named Yin Xuan, with the hope that the little one could be beautiful, gentle, brave, strong, and independent. The nickname was... Little Hong!!
Si Shuo slammed her hand on the table. "Who? Who has such ’amazing’ naming skills?"
Everyone looked at each other, but no one admitted to it. Tuanzi, however, asked in confusion, "Mother, I don’t know who chose the names, but you were the one who suggested drawing lots. Are we voiding this round?"
