Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 299 - 298: A Different Existence
Since arriving at Guangshou City, their family had rarely been this carefree and at ease. Even back in the valley, they had been busy every day preparing for the rainy season and the coldest season.
With fifty acres of fields, how could they ever rest when only one or two Beast Husbands were around to work them?
The river water here was clear, flowing down from a snow-capped mountain, which made it exceptionally crisp and sweet. The fish and shrimp within it were delicious and lacked any fishy taste, so Si Shuo and the cubs ate their fill.
Holding five roasted fish, she flashed to Zhi Le’s side. He was in his Snow Leopard form, his body curled around their three cubs.
Feeling their Father’s warmth, the cubs lay on his belly, each one sleeping soundly in a truly delightful sight.
Seeing her approach, Zhi Le smiled and summoned his clone, Zhi Qi. The clone underwent a Transformation from a Snow Leopard into a human and took the five fish from her hands.
"Thank you for your hard work, Zhi Le, Zhi Qi, and Zhi Zhan," Si Shuo said softly, her lips curving into a smile.
"You’re the one who’s worked hard," Zhi Qi said, ruffling her hair. "The cubs only needed constant attention for the first ten days or so, but you, my kitty, were pregnant for a full two months and had to endure the pain of childbirth." The usual coldness in his eyes was gone, replaced by an endless tenderness. ’His beloved little female gave him cubs... He’s still in a daze even now.’
Si Shuo smiled and hugged his waist. Looking up, she teased, "I can see how happy you are. All your attention is on the cubs. Have you already forgotten who I am?"
Zhi Qi gave her a kiss. "Kitty, I’ll only say this once: you and the cubs are different.
The cubs are our responsibility. We gave them life, so we will raise them. It is our duty as Beastmen who have inherited the blessings of our ancestors.
In the future, they will have their own lives, but we are the ones who will be by each other’s side for a lifetime. In my heart, you, my kitty, come first—even before my own life!" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Si Shuo had only been teasing him and didn’t expect such a serious confession. A warmth spread through her heart. "We both have to take good care of ourselves. My big Cat Beast has to stay with me until we grow old, and when we’re old and toothless, we’ll just go live off this bunch of cubs."
Zhi Qi held her and let out a muffled laugh. "Alright. I can just picture you as a little old lady, my kitty, throwing tantrums and rolling on the ground."
"Ah, you’re not allowed to imagine that!" Si Shuo’s eyes widened as she stood on her tiptoes, grabbed his ear, and gave it a shake. "If anyone’s going to be throwing tantrums, it’ll be you, you big Cat Beast! Who says it has to be a little old lady? It could be a little old man, too!"
"Alright, alright. I’ll be the shameless one throwing fits to get us food in our old age," Zhi Qi said, nodding in amusement. Inwardly, however, he was already scheming. ’Maybe I should work harder now. After all, the little female has her Sumeru Space. We can store plenty of things inside, and prepare food whenever we have time. That would be a good safety net for when she’s old, wouldn’t it?’
That evening, news came from Gong You. They had reached the seaside and had already chosen a slightly hidden spot to begin carving out a cave.
The whole family teleported over with Si Shuo. The moment she had her footing, Si Shuo smelled the unique salty, damp air of the great sea, and memories of her time in Nanye City flashed through her mind.
She looked up and saw that Gong You’s entire demeanor had changed. He had the relaxed, joyful air of someone returning to his own territory, much like people from her era returning to their hometowns.
This version of Gong You was just like the man she had first met—resolute, determined, and radiating the confidence of having everything under control.
Gong You walked over with a smile, holding out a basket of dried small fish. "I couldn’t resist going for a swim just now and caught all sorts of fish. Yin Jiang roasted them dry for you. See which ones you like, and I’ll stock up on them."
Si Shuo happily took the whole basket. ’I’m rich, girls! A whole basket of dried small fish! I just want to dive in, roll around, and rub my face on them! This is pure bliss! Just as I thought, now that we’re by the sea, Gong You has become so considerate and generous.
This was nothing like usual, when he would always be stingy and only use a handful of dried small fish to coax and tease her!’
The cubs gathered around as well. Their Mother was a Cat Beastman, and their inherited memories gave them a special fondness for seafood. Each one grabbed a dried fish and sat in a row next to their Mother, munching away contentedly.
They were on a small, recessed beach, surrounded by towering cliffs. Nearby was a small, sparse forest with no edible fruit. The area was considered rather useless, which was perfect for them.
Gong You and Yin Jiang took turns hitting the cliff face with water and fire. Unable to withstand the repeated thermal expansion and contraction, large chunks of rock broke off, and they had already managed to roughly carve out three caves.
Xu Chi used his Wind Blades to meticulously polish the cave walls, smoothing them until they were free of cracks and eliminating the danger of falling rocks.
Wei Ce conjured objects made of stone: beds, a table and chairs, a stove, cabinets, and more.
Zhi Le watched over the cubs, while Ji Liang and Xiao Cheng were in charge of playing with Si Shuo and the older children.
It was rare for the entire family to be together like this during the day, especially here at the seaside where the water met the sky. In the evening, the soft sand still held the sun’s residual warmth, and the lingering twilight painted a picture of tranquil, happy times.
Smiling, Si Shuo found a spot sheltered from the wind. She dug a shallow pit, placed a metal grill over it, and started a fire underneath. On the grill, she laid out all sorts of food to roast: Sweet Potatoes, peanuts, regular potatoes, corn, green beans, and eggplant.
She remembered when she was a child, she had once followed her parents back to their hometown to pay respects to their ancestors, and the local kids had pulled her along to play.
The children in the countryside didn’t have much in the way of entertainment, let alone snacks, so they would dig a pit at the edge of a field to roast food. She felt that had been the most delicious roasted Sweet Potato she had ever eaten.
After they ate, the sky grew dark. Gong You narrowed his eyes, sensing the air, and chuckled. "My dear, the tide’s going out. Shall we go beachcombing?"
He remembered how much she loved beachcombing. Si Shuo nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! We absolutely have to go!"
Yin Jiang and Xu Chi flew through the air with the cubs, while Gong You held Si Shuo and dove into the water.
In his Blue Whale form, Gong You was immense. The unrestrained pressure emanating from his body sent all the surrounding fish, shrimp, and crabs scattering in a panic.
Under the night sky, the ocean was a profound, deep color. From beneath the warm water, they could see the stars and moon above. Because of Gong You, Si Shuo had grown especially fond of the ocean. ’It’s so vast and magnificent!’
After playing with his little female on the seafloor for a while, he surfaced periodically to breathe. The spout of water he sent shooting into the air made a great SPLASH, carrying with it all of its master’s joy and exhilaration.
He transformed back into his human form. Seeing the smile on his little female’s face, his heart swelled with a sweet ache, and he pulled her into his arms and kissed her.
Being in the ocean made his emotions run high, and he was even more voracious than usual when it came to *that*. The two of them bobbed on the surface of the sea, truly making the sky their blanket and the sea their bed as the darkness of night infinitely magnified their every sensation...
After she used the Spring Breeze Technique, Si Shuo was full of life again. They rejoined the cubs, and everyone grabbed a small bucket.
The males watched over them at a leisurely pace, and Gong You would occasionally cast an orb of light to help them see.
Having inherited memories from Si Shuo, the cubs had been in a state of wild excitement ever since leaving home. They looked like a pack of little country bumpkins, a sight the adults found hilarious.
But after an hour or so, they were all tired out. They snuggled into their Fathers’ arms and fell fast asleep.
