Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 21 - 20: Disingenuous Little Thing
Si Shuo couldn’t help but ask, "Lord Ji Liang, are you leaving?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she bit her lip.
’I’ve been relying on him too much lately. It really is hard for a Cat Beastman in her Mating Period to keep control. In the end, I’ve let my guard down...’
Ji Liang chuckled, his voice dripping with tenderness. "Little Shushu, can’t bear to see me go already? You contrary little thing!
We still have agreements with other tribes, so we can’t stay for too long. Once you’re past your Mating Period, I’ll have to lead my team away.
After I finish this trading run, I’ll bring you back some wonderful things. Then I’ll stay right by your side and never leave again, how does that sound?"
Si Shuo leaned her head against the door, her mind in turmoil. On one hand, she still couldn’t shake the stubborn belief from her past life in having only one partner for life. On the other, she was constantly being brainwashed by the Beastmen around her.
Besides, Ji Liang was just too smooth. He always knew exactly how to get into her head, leaving her without the firm resolve she once had to reject him without a second thought.
Ji Liang wasn’t in a hurry. He continued slowly, "To be honest, I’m a very proud and conceited person. The kind of female I want is one who captures my heart at first sight, one I’d vow to pursue relentlessly.
Whether you accept me or not isn’t really that important, in my opinion. In any case, when it comes to a female I like, there’s no shame in being a little shameless, seizing every opening, and chasing her relentlessly.
As long as I’m right there by your side when you decide to accept a second Beast Husband, and I don’t miss my chance, that’s all that matters!"
Si Shuo couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh. "Alright. But only if Zhi Le agrees."
’She had been living on edge recently. Many of the rules on the Beast World Continent had been forged in blood, established only after countless deaths and sacrifices.’
’Since she would eventually have to adapt to the local customs and choose a second Beast Husband, what was wrong with that person being Ji Liang?’
’At least his snake form wasn’t too ugly. People were only afraid of snakes because they feared being harmed by them.’
Ji Liang was stunned for a moment, then he couldn’t stop himself from letting out a hissing laugh—an exceptionally cheerful and hearty one.
In the quiet of the night, his laughter was filled with unrestrained joy, and its cheer was infectious.
However, Ji Liang immediately began to coax her. "Little Shushu, how about you open the door? Let me come in and keep you company. I promise I won’t do a thing, I just want to hold you..."
Si Shuo’s expression darkened. "Absolutely not!"
Ji Liang didn’t press the issue. Instead, he started telling her stories about his travels all over the land throughout the years.
His voice was low and deep, and with his vast experience, he knew exactly how to tell a story. His anecdotes and strange tales were utterly captivating.
"If you ask me, Little Shushu, we should travel around a bit before the rainy season and the coldest season. You should take on a few more powerful males. I’m afraid that just me and Zhi Le won’t be enough, that we might slip up and not be able to protect you properly.
With more males at home, we won’t have to be so worried when we face various dangers, or during the rainy and coldest seasons.
What kind of Beast Forms do you like in your males? Ones that fly, ones that swim, ones that run on land... how about we get one or two of each?"
Si Shuo really wanted to shut him up. Utterly bewildered, she asked, "Lord Ji Liang, you haven’t even officially become my Beast Husband, yet you’re already trying to find love rivals for yourself?"
Ji Liang laughed. "Because I like you and worry about you, I have no choice but to set my jealousy aside and prioritize your safety.
Besides, you have to snatch up the powerful males early. Otherwise, they’ll get taken by other females, and our dear Little Shushu will have no choice but to hide in my arms and cry."
He went on to list many rare Beastmen with beautiful Beast Forms: the Iron-eating Beast, which looked adorably dopey but had explosive Combat Power; the mysterious, winged Horned Deer; the exceptionally ferocious Flying Falcon Warrior; the overlord of the sea, the Kun; the Blue Fox with its multiple tails; the splendid and colorful Vermilion Bird; and more.
To this day, Si Shuo still couldn’t quite reconcile the image of a beast with that of a person. Still, just hearing about all these creatures made her curious enough to want to go and see them for herself.
She was mostly confined to the tribe and filled with curiosity about the wider Beast World Continent. For that matter, even back in her own time, people were always excited about traveling and seeing the world!
But traveling just for the sake of collecting more Beast Husbands... that felt a little...
Fortunately, Ji Liang seemed to realize the little female he was fond of was overly shy, so he changed the subject and went back to telling her about his experiences in different places.
Listening to the man’s deep, gentle voice, and soothed by the flow of his cool Spiritual Power, Si Shuo was fast asleep in no time.
Ji Liang spoke for a while longer before falling silent. After a moment, his heart began to race.
He silently solidified his Spiritual Power and opened the door. Gazing at the beauty sleeping peacefully under the moonlight, he couldn’t stop himself from leaning in to press a reverent kiss to her forehead.
’Hsss, so damn sweet!’
He took out a Level 7 Crystal Stone, popped it into his mouth, and chewed a few times, transforming the potent energy within into a gentle form that a female could absorb.
He leaned down to her lips and began to transfer it to her, little by little.
The little female’s lips were even softer and sweeter than he imagined. A thrilling tingle shot across Ji Liang’s scalp. Using every ounce of his self-control, he maintained a steady pace, transferring the Spiritual Power to help her recuperate.
But the little female didn’t cooperate. Craving the cool sensation of his body, she threw her arms around his neck and snuggled against him.
What should have been a simple transfer of Spiritual Power was twisted into a proper kiss by her actions.
Ji Liang’s ears burned red and the corners of his eyes flushed. His voice was husky with helplessness as he said, "Little Shushu, you are truly testing the limits of my willpower!"
With a wave of his hand, he closed the door. He pulled her into his embrace, gently stroking her hair. He was utterly captivated by the warm, fragrant, soft woman in his arms. A single taste was truly addictive.
Si Shuo slept wonderfully that night, so well that it almost felt as if her Mating Period was coming to an end.
After eating the egg pancakes she’d made yesterday and finishing a bowl of rice porridge, she opened the door to let some fresh air into the cave.
There weren’t many Beastmen around the tribe at this hour. The males were out hunting and the females were out gathering; everyone else was busy with their own tasks. Besides her, the only ones not working were a few females, spoiled by their males, who were sleeping late into the morning.
Not only had Yu Jiao taken a Rogue Beast as her Beast Husband, but Ma Hui had also brought a member of the Dark Crow Trading Team back to her cave.
The two were chattering away downstairs, their heads tilted slightly upward as they spoke. In truth, half of what they said was intended for Si Shuo to overhear, a way to show off the new treasures they had recently gotten.
They were decked out in ornaments from head to toe—on their heads, hands, waists, and legs—looking like a pair of Christmas trees that jingled with every step.
Si Shuo just dangled her legs, gazing at the distant bushes while she mulled over what sort of sincere thank-you gift she could give Ji Liang.
An idea sparked in her mind. She went back into her cave and consulted her weaving manual, picking out a beautiful design for a Peace Pendant. She found a fiery red Beast Skin, de-furred it, cut it into strips, and paired them with golden beast sinew before burying her head in the task of weaving.
Peace Pendants looked lovely, but weaving one that was smooth and beautiful required repeated practice to master the proper technique and tension.
After unraveling her work more than a dozen times, she finally managed to create something she could be proud of!
Even with no other females around this time, she still wove several of them: one to keep for herself, one for Zhi Le, and one for Ji Liang.
The Peace Pendant symbolized peace and joy, and she hoped that they could all live happily and without a care in the Beast World.
