Chapter 109: Chapter 108: Beaten to It by Ji Liang

Having said his piece, Ji Liang turned to look at Xu Chi.

Xu Chi raised an eyebrow. "A few days ago, I might not have been able to beat my chest and give you a one hundred percent guarantee."

"But I fought in the arena for two days, and after I leveled up, I consolidated my Combat Power. Barring any accidents, I’ll be able to secure a spot as a Beast Soldier."

Ji Liang nodded. "Alright, then I won’t fight you for it. Once we get to the Beast City, I’ll figure out some kind of business for our family."

Life and survival in the Central Continent were different from how things were back in the Southern Continent.

In the Southern Continent, the females gathered food every day, while the males took turns hunting and standing guard.

In the Central Continent, males still guarded the females and undertook hunting quests. However, the Border City District was quite far from the Beast City. Especially in hot weather, the meat from slain Fierce Beasts was typically consumed locally rather than being transported all the way to the females in the Beast City.

The Beastmen in the Beast City ate grains, fruits, and vegetables grown from the earth, as well as meat, eggs, and milk from various domesticated Fierce Beasts.

Ji Liang might have seemed laid-back, but he was fiercely competitive at heart. ’Whatever the females of other families have, ours has to have too!’

Besides, he hated monotony. ’Being forced to patrol, stand guard, or farm and serve others every day? I’d rather just laze around in our den with my female, mooching off her food and drink.’

From the moment his female had decided to come to the Central Continent, Ji Liang’s mind had been flooded with ideas. He was just waiting for them to get settled so he could start putting them into practice, one by one.

Their little act of playing gods and ghosts had thoroughly intimidated the other Beastmen. The spring hunt shouldn’t have any more unexpected trouble.

Si Shuo slept soundly. When she woke up, she felt completely refreshed, more comfortable than she’d ever felt before.

She could tell just by the scent that she was nestled in Xu Chi’s arms.

Si Shuo nuzzled against him, her mind replaying last night’s thrilling events.

Suddenly, she lifted her head and asked, her cheeks puffed out indignantly, "Xu Chi, did you carry Ji Liang up into the sky last night?!"

She remembered it clearly. The Beast God’s voice had faded into the distance, which could only mean they were high up in the sky, gradually turning down the volume on the speaker.

Ji Liang’s Beast Form is tall, but he can’t just stand up perfectly straight, can he?

Besides, the height they were at was far greater than Ji Liang’s length!

Xu Chi nodded. He didn’t quite understand the source of her anger, so he didn’t dare say a word.

Si Shuo poked his chest. "Xu Chi! I’ve been dying to see your wings for ages! Ever since you got your Invisibility Ability, we’ve been so busy traveling that I haven’t even gotten a good look at them, let alone had you carry me while you fly."

"How could I let Ji Liang get your first time...?"

Xu Chi chuckled. He hugged her and immediately activated his Invisibility. Then, he tore off the Beast Skins on his upper torso and strode out of the Beast Skin Bag. Behind him, pristine white wings materialized from thin air and unfurled with a WHOOSH, each one as long as a person is tall.

Si Shuo let out a soft gasp. She excitedly gripped Xu Chi’s shoulders and craned her neck to get a better look.

With a light push of his feet, Xu Chi soared into the sky, holding her in his arms.

Si Shuo clung tightly to his neck. This was so thrilling, she felt like she was going to have a heart attack.

Whether it was stroking Zhi Le’s addictively soft fur in his big cat form, admiring Ji Liang’s cool handsomeness as a black snake, being carried by the giant Blue Whale Gong You on a tour of the ocean floor, or now being held by the white-winged Xu Chi as they soared through the sky—it all filled her with a joy so immense she didn’t know what to do with herself.

’If you haven’t experienced it yourself, how could you ever understand what it means for your heart to bloom with joy, for fireworks to explode in your head with happiness?’

But Xu Chi had a mischievous streak. He tossed her into the air, scaring her so badly that her face went pale and she shrieked. Then, he transformed into his Beast Form, caught her securely, and began flying circles around the workshop.

Si Shuo yanked hard on his Deer antlers, pinched his ears, and blew into them—doing whatever she could to express her displeasure. "Xu Chi, I’m pregnant! I can’t handle being scared like that!"

Xu Chi chuckled and couldn’t resist giving her a soft nuzzle, his voice husky. "I’m sorry, A shuo. I saw how happy you were, so I got carried away playing around. I forgot that you’re easily scared and that you’re pregnant."

Si Shuo bit her lip to hide a smile and hugged his head. "Xu Chi, would you prefer a little girl cub or a little boy cub?"

"As long as they’re our cubs, A shuo, I’ll love them!"

"Then let’s have a little boy first, okay? He can be the big brother, so if we have a little girl later, he can protect her."

To this day, Si Shuo still couldn’t quite believe she was pregnant. It was such a wonderful, magical thing that it felt a little overwhelming.

Xu Chi carried her on his back for quite a while longer, only stopping when Zhi Le sent them a note urging them to come back and eat.

When they got back to their Beast Skin Bag, Zhi Le immediately pulled Si Shuo into his arms and snorted.

"The weather might be getting warmer, but there’s still a big temperature drop at night. Our kitty is pregnant with a cub! How could you let her go wandering off without even eating first?"

"If I didn’t have to be the one to stay and guard the den, I’d definitely pick a fight with you!"

Xu Chi rubbed his nose, a small smile playing on his lips as he went to get some food for his little female.

Things had been hectic yesterday, so Si Shuo and Zhi Le had barely spoken. Then she’d slept for a long time, only to go gallivanting around the sky as soon as she woke up.

Zhi Le, having barely seen her for three days, was bursting with pent-up jealousy.

Copying the way he usually teased her, Si Shuo smiled and gently pinched the back of Zhi Le’s neck. "Zhi Le, Ji Liang and Xu Chi both leveled up during the arena fights. They even won our family a small courtyard and a plot of farmland each."

"Once you and Gong You secure spots as Beast Soldiers, our life in Guangshou City will just keep getting better and better!"

"Our whole family will be reunited, eating together every day. I get happy just thinking about it..."

"And in the future, our family will have one cub after another. It’ll be so lively."

"When that time comes, Zhi Le, you’d better not just dote on the cubs and forget all about me, your kitty..."

Zhi Le sighed softly. "Of course I won’t! We’re just worried about our kitty. We’ve been rushing from the Southern Continent for over a month, not eating or sleeping properly. We’re afraid it’s too much for your body."

"Besides, we still have another month or two of travel ahead of us, and we have no idea what dangers we might encounter on the way." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"I specifically told Xu Chi to be careful. How could he be so reckless?"

By the end, he was practically grinding his teeth.

’How could I possibly admit that I was the one who wasn’t clear, causing Xu Chi to misunderstand?’

’Anyway, Xu Chi had cut in line to get her pregnant, so the other husbands were bound to make a fuss about it.’

’But I’m sure they know not to take it too far. I’ll just let Xu Chi take the blame for this one!’

After the meal, Si Shuo took out her Polaroid camera again and had her two Beast Husbands pose for a commemorative photo.

A glint in her eye, she secretly activated her Replication Skill, covering the photo with it. Since the photo contained no condensed energy, she found she could replicate it more than three times, breaking her usual limit.

Si Shuo replicated all the photos she’d taken previously. She made five copies of each of her solo pictures and three copies of each of the photos with two people.

The Polaroid film was quite expensive, so she tried replicating that as well. To her surprise—and yet, not—it worked.

Si Shuo was so happy her eyes curved into smiling crescents. ’Does this mean I can open a photo studio in the Beast World Continent?’

’Once I can replicate the camera itself, it’s not like I couldn’t sell them...’
