Chapter 204: Chapter 204: This Dad Is Hopeless!
Chapter 204: Chapter 204: This Dad Is Hopeless!
As he left the prison, Ji Muye’s face was sullen.
He had not expected Liu Xixi to have carried out so many shadowy deeds in secret, nor did he know that the grievances Lu Xining had suffered were several times greater than what he had imagined.
And he was the mastermind behind all these troubles.
The sky was gray, and the mist enveloped everything, causing people’s moods to plummet.
The car slowly entered Jingzhou No. 1.
Ji Muye saw from a distance that there were two people standing at the Lu Family’s entrance.
That man was familiar to him.
It was Song Henian.
The air was fresh and pleasant after the rain, and Lu Xining was somewhat surprised by Song Henian’s visit, but she did not turn him away.
She asked, “Is there something you need?”
Originally not wanting to be a bother, yet fearing that this departure might be a farewell for a lifetime, Song Henian, after lengthy contemplation, decided to come and say goodbye to Lu Xining, even if just as an old college classmate.
Now out of his suit, dressed in a clean white shirt and casual pants, he was slender and had a cool air about him that reminded her of their university days.
He suppressed the impulse at the bottom of his heart and said in a calm tone, “I am going to develop overseas, and I won’t be returning for several years, so I came to bid you farewell.”
Hearing Song Henian’s words, Lu Xining genuinely wished him well.
The domestic capital market was already stable, but the international market was full of challenges; for the man before her, showing his genius on the new battlefield of capital was only fitting.
Time had passed so long, and the mistakes Old Sir Song had made, she did not wish to blame them on Song Henian.
Lu Xining said with a light smile, “I wish you smooth sailing.”
Having learned about her childhood and university experiences, Song Henian truly admired her resilience; despite the many ups and downs in life, the confidence and spark in her eyes had never faded.
“Yes, I will,” he said, staring into her eyes, his smile cool yet filled with restrained strength.
Song Henian opened his arms, his gaze sincere, “Lu, could I ask for a lucky hug?”
This scene overlaid with the memories from the graduation ceremony at University A, many years ago.
Back then, Lu Xining’s response had been, “Of course you can.”
And today was no different.
Ji Muye watched the two embrace, his fists clenched tight, and he spoke to the driver, whose speed was slowing down, “Drive faster.”
The driver had also seen the scene and felt a bit of sympathy for his boss; as he drove past the entrance of the Lu Family’s residence, the horn was accidentally pressed.
He quickly apologized, “Sorry, boss!”
The hug between Lu Xining and Song Henian was brief, and the man was very polite; there was no tight press of bodies, just a slight envelopment, and even the palm touching her back was a touch-and-go.
Lu Xining had already seen the black Maybach approaching.
Hearing the horn, she looked toward the rear seat of the car.

The window did not roll down, but she always felt as if a sharp gaze was locked on her through the dark window.
A brief embrace was already enough for him.
As Song Henian released Lu Xining, he happened to see through the windows into the yard, where Little Dumpling in a lemon-yellow dress was sitting on the crescent-shaped sofa, her eyes wide with shock at them.
Seeing him look over, Lu Nuonuo waved enthusiastically.
His gaze softened as he smiled at her, “Nuonuo is really adorable.”
Hearing this, Lu Xining turned around and indeed saw her daughter perched on the window sofa, flashing a big white-toothed smile at her.
Noticing that both were watching her, Lu Nuonuo swiftly climbed down from the sofa, grabbed her favorite candy, and rushed outside.
“Uncle Song, this is for you.” Her two soft little hands were filled with her favorite candies, and she enthusiastically introduced the flavors to him.
Song Henian crouched down to accept the child’s kindness.
He had a plane to catch and didn’t stay long, taking a deep look at Lu Xining and the child in her arms before he left.
On the way to the airport, Song Henian opened his wallet to find a group photo in the center, a shot from their university graduation.
He scanned and extracted the individual photos of himself and Lu Xining from the group picture, Photoshopped a double portrait, and as the years went by, his wallets grew increasingly expensive, yet that group photo never showed any wear.
It was his youthful preoccupation, never changed.
After Song Henian left,
Lu Xining carried her daughter back to the study upstairs.
She continued with her work while Lu Nuonuo painted at a small desk in the study room, each doing their own thing in an image of perfect harmony.
Several invitation cards were placed in a box beside them, ones she and Ji Muye had drawn together; the inviting text was handwritten by the man himself, stroke by stroke, more earnestly than signing important documents.
Suddenly, raindrops pattered against the window.
Lu Nuonuo’s attention was drawn to the rain outside.
She rushed to the window to watch the rain, eager to change into her raincoat and boots to go jumping in it.
Turning to glance at the busy Lu Xining, Lu Nuonuo went over and tugged at the hem of her trousers, said hello, and then, accompanied by the housekeeper, went out to play in the courtyard.
Her new little yellow duck raincoat and matching boots were adorably cute on her.
Lu Xining, watching from upstairs as the housekeeper and bodyguard stayed by her daughter, felt more at ease and turned back to her computer screen with a serious expression.
The screen showed new information from Haozi.
“Sister Ning, the real Shen Molin, is very likely already dead.”
At the same time, he had found out that the current Shen Molin, not only was Qin Luyao’s mistress, but also had another interest group behind her that provided insider information to certain competitive enterprises.
Zhang Shengnan was indeed as clever as the village head of Zhang Village had claimed, it was just a pity she used her cleverness in illegal ways.
After reading the information, Lu Xining was about to go downstairs to find her daughter, but she looked out the window to find Ji Muye outside in the courtyard.
The woman not far behind him, approaching them, was none other than the impostor Shen Molin from the information.
“President Ji, this is the information Secretary Yan asked me to deliver.”
Shen Molin had been unsure why Ji Muye was so resistant to her approaching him before; learning that she had to deliver documents today, she made a point of showing her face in front of Yan Dong, indicating that others were busy and she was willing to make the delivery.
Moreover, she had known about his move to the same neighborhood as Lu Xining long before Ji Muye moved, having learned about it through Yan Dong purchasing the related furniture.
Upon seeing her enemy’s daughter, Shen Molin felt her darker side triggered.
Children have a clearer sense of malice from others.
Lu Nuonuo felt uncomfortable the moment she saw her approach and quickly left her clueless dad behind, following the housekeeper back into the courtyard.
As she ran, she grumbled internally: It’s over! This dad is hopeless!
Ji Muye had been having a good time with the child, but when he suddenly heard Shen Molin’s voice, he turned around with a cold face, saw the documents and the access card in her hand, and felt that he needed to have a serious talk with Yan Dong.
“Leave the documents, you can go.”
However, as he caught a glimpse of Lu Xining coming out from the house, he suddenly said, “Wait a moment.”
Ji Muye personally took the documents from her.
Through the courtyard gate, Shen Molin’s gaze met Lu Xining’s eyes, feeling smug inside.
Although Wang Chunmei’s plan to smear her had failed, she hadn’t caught any evidence against herself, had she?
Taking pride in herself, Shen Molin put on a fitting smile as she saw the woman coming closer and took the initiative to say hello, “Miss Lu, long time no see.”
Lu Xining met her gaze with politeness, “Indeed, it’s been a long time. I find that Secretary Shen looks quite similar to someone I met in the past, her name was Zhang Shengnan. I wonder if Secretary Shen knows her?”
