Chapter 42: Episode 42: Conception Confirmed.

[TheSassyGoddess cancels her evening plans to watch Season 2.]

"Again."

Kaelen blinked, sweat dripping from his forehead into his eyes. He was currently lying on his back, sprawled across the bed, looking like a man who had just run a triathlon, won a gold medal, and then been run over by a truck of pleasure.

"Again?" he rasped, his voice a broken growl. "Roxy... we have mated four times since the moon rose. The sun is now high."

Roxy stood over him, hands on her hips. She was naked, her hair a wild mane around her face, looking like a succubus with a deadline.

"I don’t hear a ’Ding’, Kae," she stated, pointing to the air where the invisible System screen usually hovered. "Do you hear a ’Ding’?"

Kaelen listened. But he heard nothing at all.

"I hear... no Ding," he admitted.

"Exactly," Roxy said, crawling back onto the bed. She moved with the determination of a woman who had a million LP riding on this transaction. "That means the oven is still cold, Wolfy. And I am not leaving this room until the bun is baking."

She straddled his hips, the friction eliciting a sharp intake of breath from him. Even exhausted, his body betrayed him. He hardened instantly beneath her.

"I can’t get enough of you," Kaelen groaned, his hands coming up to grip her waist, his thumbs pressing into her soft skin. "Is this... ’human’ stamina?"

"No," Roxy grinned, leaning down to bite his lower lip. "This is a woman with a schedule. Now, less talking, more fucking."

Outside the Cabin:

Vorn stood at attention by the door, his spear held tight. He looked tired. He looked confused, and his face was flushed red from the voices he had been hearing from inside.

He didn’t know why he had to stand guard; he wanted to speak to his Alpha concerning something that was bothering him, and he ended up standing there stupefied.

They had been mating since last night!

He should go back to his mate and mate with her. She had been looking beautiful these days, and he could hardly contain himself.

He swallowed.

Rax, the Gamma, walked up carrying a tray of roasted boar meat.

"Is the King dead?" Rax whispered, glancing nervously at the heavy Iron-Wood door.

"He lives," Vorn grunted. "I heard him... About an hour ago." His face flushed very red, so Rax looked at him confused, but decided not to ask more for fear of not understanding.

"But he has not emerged for the morning hunt," Rax noted. "He has not inspected the perimeter. He has not even come out to pee."

Vorn shifted his weight. "The Moon Mother... keeps him."

From inside the cabin, a sound echoed. It was a loud thump, followed by the sound of something heavy hitting the wall, and then a guttural, animalistic growl that made the hair on Rax’s arms stand up.

"KAELEN! FOCUS!" Roxy’s voice shouted, muffled but distinct.

Then came the sound of the Wolf King, the deadly Scourge of the North, whining. "I am trying!" Kaelen’s voice drifted out. "But my legs... are shaking!"

Rax looked at Vorn with wide eyes. "She is killing him."

"No," Vorn said, a strange mix of horror and respect on his face. "She is... training him."

How would Rax understand? He doesn’t have a mate.

Inside the Cabin:

It wasn’t just the bed.

By the second afternoon, they had used every piece of furniture Roxy had bought with her LP.

They had used the rug in front of the fire. That had been a frantic, messy session where Kaelen had flipped her onto her stomach and taken her from behind like a wild animal, biting the nape of her neck while she screamed into the wool.

They had used the sturdy oak table that Roxy used for planning. That was where Roxy had wrapped her legs around his neck, pulling him in for a deep, tongue-ravaging kiss while he pounded into her with a rhythm that rattled the table.

And now, they were back on the bed.

"Hydrate," Roxy ordered, shoving a blue raspberry drink into Kaelen’s face.

Kaelen drank it greedily, the blue liquid running down his chin. He looked wild. His hair was a mess, his body slick with sweat and sex fluids. He looked absolutely destroyed, and absolutely happy.

"I have never..." Kaelen panted, tossing the empty bottle aside. "I have never felt so drained. And so full."

He reached for her, pulling her down onto his chest.

"You are magic, Roxy," he whispered, nuzzling into her neck. "You drain and feed the wolf."

"I’m going to feed you a fist if you don’t get me pregnant," Roxy muttered, though she ran her fingers through his silver hair tenderly. "We’re running out of time, Z."

She froze.

Z.

She had called him Z.

Kaelen stiffened. He pulled back, looking into her eyes. The blue ice was sharp, searching. Never in his entire life has someone mistook him for that lizard.

"You think of the Dragon," he said quietly.

Roxy opened her mouth to lie, but she couldn’t. She was tired too. Her body ached. Her heart ached. Even though her heart was opening up to Kaelen, she couldn’t just forget Drax and Zarek, whom she had left at the dragon territory. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

She knew Zarek was coming, but she didn’t know when he would come.

"He’s coming, Kaelen," she whispered. "If we don’t secure this... if I don’t have a child... he’s going to kill you, and I don’t want that."

Kaelen’s expression darkened. The jealous lover vanished, replaced by his protective instincts to protect the mate he had finally had after a very long while.

"He will not touch you," Kaelen vowed. "The Iron-Wood holds us tightly. He can’t burn through the trees."

"The wood holds, but for how long?" Roxy countered. "I need this, Kaelen. I need to know that if everything goes to hell... I left something behind. Something that binds the Pack to the future."

She straddled him again, her eyes wet with unshed tears.

"So don’t just fuck me," she pleaded softly. "Claim me. Mark me. Put a piece of your soul inside me so deep that no dragon fire can burn it out."

I sound so fucking cringe, all because I am trying to convince a wolf to keep fucking me.

He flipped her.

It was so fast, Roxy gasped. One second, she was on top, the next she was pinned to the mattress, Kaelen looming over her like a deadly beast.

"I will mark you," he snarled, his voice dropping into a register that was pure Wolf. "I will fill you until you reek of me. Until the Dragon smells nothing but Wolf."

He grabbed her hips, lifting them. He didn’t ask this time and thrust into her waiting entrance.

"Oh god!" Roxy screamed, her head hitting the headboard.

He was huge. He was swollen from days of constant arousal, and he entered her with a punishing force. He wasn’t making love; he was staking his claim on her because he hated the name of Zarek on her tongue.

"Mine," he grunted with every slam of his hips. "Mine. Mine. Mine."

Roxy couldn’t think. She couldn’t breathe. She could only cling to his sweaty shoulders, her nails digging furrows into his back as he drove them both toward the edge.

"Kaelen!" Roxy wailed, her legs wrapping tight around his waist. "Fuck!"

"Rox!" Kaelen roared.

He slammed into her, burying himself to the root. It was tighter than before, more intense. It felt like he was expanding to fill every inch of her existence.

Roxy cried out, her back arching, her body convulsing around him as her own climax hit her like a train. She shook apart, seeing stars, her vision going white.

Kaelen groaned, a sound torn from the depths of his soul, and poured into her.

He held her there, locked and panting, his forehead pressed against hers, their sweat mingling.

"I have given everything," Kaelen whispered, his voice wrecked. "My seed. My strength. My heart."

They lay there in the silence of the cabin, the only sound their ragged breathing and the crackle of the dying fire.

Roxy closed her eyes. She waited silently, already used to the system’s tactics, because she was tired, sweaty, and incredibly in pain.

Please, she begged the universe. Please.

[Ding!]

The sound was loud. Clear and beautiful.

Roxy’s eyes snapped open.

"Yes!" Roxy shrieked, throwing her arms up in the air, nearly clocking Kaelen in the jaw. "YES! WE DID IT!"

Kaelen flinched, his monstrous cock slipping out of her. "What? What is it?"

"I am pregnant!" Roxy laughed, grabbing his face and kissing him, smacking hard on the lips. "We are going to have a puppy!"

Kaelen froze. He looked at her face, beaming with joy. He looked down at her stomach. His eyes filled with tears.

"A pup?" he whispered, his voice trembling. "A true... Wolf heir?"

"A true heir," Roxy promised, placing his large hand over her womb. "He’s right there. Little Wolfy Junior."
