Awakening the Daily Intelligence System-Chapter 811 - 407, internal response
Chapter 811: 407, internal response
For a newly recruited police officer, the oath might just be a simple phrase of dozens of words, but for those who have been battling on the criminal investigation front for several years or even over a decade, this oath has long been deeply integrated into their blood, becoming a part of their lives. It embodies the bitterness and hardship of handling cases and the joy and pride of solving them, all emotions intertwined, complex beyond description.
From an emotional standpoint, the team leader Robert Johnson also had a fleeting thought deep down about leaving Oscar for dead. However, they are police officers, and in action, they must rely on reason. To put it bluntly, they often have to set aside personal feelings and be utterly impartial.
Just as Team Leader Robert Johnson was lost in his emotions, his phone suddenly rang abruptly.
He picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, and found it was Mark Wilson calling. Seeing this name, Robert Johnson immediately pressed the answer button.
“Mark! What the hell is going on? Weren’t you supposed to act together with Alicia Linder from the city bureau? How did she end up being captured by the Dark Law Enforcer!” As soon as the call connected, Robert Johnson urgently demanded through the phone.

On the other end of the line, Mark Wilson was silent for a moment, as if afraid of being overheard, lowered his voice, and cautiously said, “Old Robert, I’ll report this to you in detail when I get back. Right now, I’m at an abandoned factory not far from Hope Orphanage, called Star Electronics Factory. I’ve already located the target and am preparing to take him down. Get over here quickly to support me!”
Normally, Robert Johnson didn’t have much affection for Mark Wilson’s voice, but at this moment, he found it to be a heavenly sound.
“Don’t worry; just stick close to him until we arrive, and be careful not to be discovered by the target!” Robert Johnson instructed with a mix of excitement and tension.
After hanging up, Team Leader Robert Johnson quickly stood up and resolutely issued orders to the task force members who had been on standby, as well as the city’s detectives: “Tom, Emily, you two stay with the task force and keep your eyes on the live feed, monitoring any movements inside. Everyone else, come with me, target Star Electronics Factory!”
“Yes!” The group responded in unison, their voices full of determination and courage.
Meanwhile, in a room on the second floor of the abandoned plant, Jack was intently watching Alicia Linder’s every move on the semi-transparent screen before him when a daring thought suddenly crossed his mind.
Could I recruit her to join me?
If he had Alicia Linder, the acting captain of the crime investigation team, as an insider, he could gain more internal police information, allowing him to take the lead in operations and prepare comprehensively in advance.
Moreover, according to detailed information provided by the system, Jack knew that Alicia Linder, like himself, had an unswerving pursuit of a certain matter, exuding a strong sense of justice. Such a person, once successfully recruited, could surely play a significant role in the so-called “Judgement” actions in the future.
Thinking of this, Jack, who originally planned to evade the police officer’s tight surveillance outside the room and escape swiftly before the police arrived, changed his mind. He decided to leave a clue for the police, laying the groundwork for future contact with Alicia Linder.
With a firm decision, Jack’s eyes returned to focus on the live stream.
On the live screen, Alicia Linder had gradually composed herself and, in the blink of an eye, transformed back into the Los Angeles policewoman, with her usual gallant demeanor and decisive actions. Her gaze sharp as a knife, she began to carefully survey the entire room.
The room they were in was not large, yet it was chaotically filled with various kinds of clutter. Particularly, five strange restraint devices fixed to the floor and walls, occupying about one-third of the room space, stood out starkly.
The key was only as long as a finger. To find five keys within three minutes in this room crammed with clutter seemed daunting, near to impossible.
Alicia Linder knew how tough this task was but showed no sign of backing down. She took a deep breath, walked steadily to Oscar, bent over, and began to inspect the locks on the five iron rings carefully, trying to find some clues amidst them to turn the crisis into a chance.
Alicia Linder stared at the lock, her brows knit into deep lines. The lock was peculiarly designed, triangular, quite different from the locks commonly seen. The keyhole sat on the front side of the triangle, a standard circle, yet strangely, the circle had five different shaped protrusions. Take the lock near Oscar’s chin, for instance; the protrusion is triangular, seemingly designed to deliberately cause difficulty.
Oscar watched Alicia Linder, standing in front of him with full focus on those locks, anxious as an ant on a hot pan. He knew that time was ticking away, and without urgency, they could both perish here. So, with a sob in his voice, he urged desperately, “Officer Linder, there’s no time! Quickly follow the rules and find the keys, or we’re both done for!”
