Awakened: SSS Ranked Soul king-Chapter 124: Wrong
Hunter had organized an assassination attempt on Thane. Though he failed, it was still a big problem—especially now that Thane was the new Raven’s Lord.
"A mission, huh?" Thane’s lips curled into an evil smile as he turned to the door beside them.
There, a beastvered in metal armor—with horns curved to form a moon-like shapeuld be seen. The moment it felt Thane’s gaze, a bolt of dimfort shot through its body, forcing it to stand up.
The circular shape on its head soon glowed with resplendent light as the creature’s eyes went blank. In the next few snds, it walked out of the main hall and roamed to the room beside them, where it picked up a human.
"Let me go!" The human struggled but was eventually brought into the hall in the maw of the beast.
"Damn," someone murmured, watching a level‑10 slayer—capped at red—being handled like a rag doll, which sent shivers down the spine of everyone around.
Especially the Blacksteels and the Nu.
They were more closely involved in the assassination than anyone else here.
"Hello, little brother, how has hiding away been for you?" The moment the assassination orchestrator was verified by Robin, Thane set out to deal with him.
At that point, Hunter had no reason to hide, but Dorn made sure he did anyway—so he never got his revenge.
This was a good avenue for that.
"Thane, this is unnecessary. Hunter is just misguided… his brother is dead and he blames you. You have to understand," Dorn stepped in to calm the tension.
During their journey back from the mountains, Viper was captured by a roaming flying beast. They tried to pursue it, but it soon flew into the mountains. Going back was not an option, so Dorn decided they would leave Viper behind.
Thane immediately blew a fuse, lashing out at Dorn and a few others. At that time, the team stillnsisted of around 13 members, of whom 6 chose to follow Thane.
Against Dorn’s wishes, they set off into the mountains to save her and were thoroughly wiped out—leaving only two people alive.
Among them was Hunter’s brother, Fern.
Hence, the grudge between the two.
"Fern followed me because he believed in me… you’re forgetting that he’s also my brother!" Thane barked, his tone laced with killing intent.
He loved all his brothers, no matter how shitty they were; Fern had followed him, so he took his death very seriously.
"Shut up! If he were your brother, he wouldn’t be dead—and that bitch wouldn’t be here!" Hanging from the beast’s maw, Hunter seethed with anger. Thane had gone to save Viper and returned with only Viper—it was clear what had happened.
He sacrificed his brother to save the bitch!
"Idiot! Shut your mouth!" This time, Dorn was the one to blow a fuse.
This whole thing was Hunter’s fault; if he had stuck to the original plan, this wouldn’t be happening. Thane wouldn’t be looking for revenge.
"I won’t shut up; if he wants to kill me, let him do it! It wouldn’t be the first time he killed a sibling!" Hunter clearly hated Thane, to the bottom of his heart. He wanted nothing more than to gut him—successor or not.
"Killing a sibling?" Thane’s expression turnedld as he looked across the room; his gaze landed on Victoria and herhort.
"What a great idea!" Thane said loudly. He stood up and walked toward the exit of the hall, leaving everyone stunned.
The surprise was not limited to the Blacksteels and the Nu; even Victoria wasnfused by this.
They had a plan pertaining to the Hunter situation—to remove the tension between both parties, he would be imprisoned. Yes, removing a level‑10 slayer from their ranks would reduce their effectivenessnsiderably.
But having Thane looking over his shouldersnstantly was a no‑no. He was the pillar of their assault. If Hunter successfully stabbed him in the back, they would all lose.
"Follow him!" Freda barked, causing the three clans and everyone around to promptly stand up and follow Thane.
The man was acting erratically; they had to make sure he didn’t losentrol.
And so, Thane walked through the streets of the shelter with a giant beast beside him and a young man with green hair being dragged along.
"What’s going on?"
"Isn’t that Lord Thane?"
"Hmm, those three clans are up to no good once again."
The slayers still in the city watched as Thane walked toward the castle. Some even left what they were doing to follow him.
Some time later, they arrived at the main entrance of the castle, where some sentinels were already waiting with a wooden block.
Thane scaled the stairs, and without a snd thought, the sentinels grabbed Hunter and placed his head on the wooden block.
"A sin against humanity, betrayal, lies, and attempted murder. You, Hunter Blacksteel, are the worst of the worst. You do not deserve a future with us, you do not deserve a future with this city, and because of that…
I sentence you to die."
Before anyoneuld say anything, Thane caused a massive blacksword to appear in his hand and swung it down at Hunter’s neck.

Right before their eyes, his head was chopped off by the swing of a great sword. Thane’s great sword.
Thane had executed Hunter.
Thane had executed his stepbrother.
The surrounding slayers broke into murmurs—some feeling remorse, others glee. Forget what Hunter did; the Blacksteels and the three clans were in clear defiance of the new state of things.
They had to be taught a lesson.
"This is not right," not everyone was angry—Guilliman, who was in the crowd, wore a frown on his face.
It wasn’t just him though, Victoria and the rest of thehort looked glum, even Viper.
This was not okay at all… killing one’s own blood was taboo, especially in this manner. The Thane they knew and loved would never do something like this.
It wasmpletely overboard.
