Assassin at Range: The Sniper's Lethal Power-Chapter 115 - : This is My New Mount
Boom!
The calm ground suddenly erupted with a series of explosions. Amidst the flying debris, a massive shadow shot up from the earth, stretching its form in the air.
Some players who were grinding nearby nearly jumped out of their skins when they saw this. When they looked up to the sky, their legs went weak.
A shadow so large it blocked out the sun, crimson eyes that seemed to carry a tangible sense of pressure.
"Where did this giant dragon come from?" one player exclaimed.
The first instinct was to run.
But then, they realized something was off.
This was a boss. Why run?
Upon a closer look, though, they realized they still needed to run.
This was a Dark Gold Grade Boss at level 30. The poor guy, this little Cardami player, was about to go head-first into it.
However, the appearance of such a boss in the wild would certainly be worth a lot of money.
With that thought in mind, the player quickly opened their friend list and sent the news out.
In a very short time, Eldoria City was in an uproar.
Countless players began to gather at the teleportation circles, eager to become dragon-slaying heroes.
Drake was no exception. Upon receiving the news, he immediately instructed his team to stop grinding and prepare to test their luck. He quickly opened his friend list and sent a message to Blackshade: "Another Dark Gold Boss appeared! And it’s a dragon!!!"
A moment later, he received a reply.
[That’s my new mount.]
???
Drake stared at the message with a bunch of question marks above his head.
One of his assassin teammates excitedly spoke up, "When are we heading out? I can’t wait to bathe in dragon blood!"
The archer, seemingly deep in thought, remarked, "I heard that dragons have a habit of kidnapping princesses. So, if we go, should we fight the boss first or save the princess? What if the princess falls for me, do you think I should say yes?"
Cleric Sophie thought for a moment and said, "If she does take a liking to you, it’d certainly be good news for IFA."
While they were discussing, Drake sighed, looking downcast. "Forget it, let’s keep grinding. No need to go."
The archer was quick to protest. "You can’t stop me from chasing love just because of your heartbreak! I’m doing this for the guild!"
Sophie suddenly had an idea. "Is it Blackshade? Has he already reached the boss point?"
Drake nodded but then shook his head. "Yes, it’s Blackshade, but this time it’s different. He said that dragon is his new mount."
???
Sophie and the others stared at him, utterly confused.
What the hell was going on with this situation?
Drake finally made a decision. "Since it’s been said, let’s not join the chaos. Anyway, tomorrow is the grand opening of Blackshade’s shop, so he’ll be back by then. We can ask him for more details then."
The three teammates exchanged glances, and it seemed like that was the only option.
...
Out in the wilds of Eldoria City.
The player who first discovered the Shadow Dragon was having a serious existential crisis.
He had been so excited when he first saw the Shadow Dragon.
But before he could even calm down, he saw a figure appear on the dragon’s back. After that, the Shadow Dragon took off without a second thought.
When other players arrived on the scene, there was no trace of the dragon. They quickly began to scold the player.
"Oh, so now you’re playing the ’wolf is coming’ game, huh?"
...
Meanwhile, the Shadow Dragon was feeling a bit nervous.
It had gotten so excited earlier that it had blown up the dungeon, completely forgetting that My Lord Shadow was nearby.
As soon as it burst out of the ground, the realization hit. It quickly looked around, its eyes wide with concern.
If My Lord Shadow had been caught in the explosion, there was no way it would escape unscathed.
Thankfully, the Dragon God Oath hadn’t backfired, which meant that My Lord Shadow was still alive.
While it was frantically scanning the area, it heard Tristan’s irritated voice from its back.

"Why did you have to blow up the dungeon the moment you came out? If I hadn’t reacted fast, we’d probably be buried under all that rubble by now!"
At the mention of this, Tristan’s teeth ground together in frustration.
Shadow Dragon Seltus had clearly underestimated its own power. As soon as the seals were broken, it unleashed all its strength, immediately shattering the rocks that had been suppressing it.
Any one of those flying stones could have emptied Tristan’s health bar in an instant.
Luckily, he had the Shadow Prism, which not only protected him from the damage but also allowed him to fly into the air.
In the end, he used Shadow Leap to get onto the Shadow Dragon’s back and both of them soared out of the dungeon together.
Just as they exited, Tristan received a system notification.
"Ding, you have tamed the Shadow Dragon. The Shadow Dungeon will now be permanently closed."
"Ding, you have gained a special mount, unlocking the mount interface. You can summon or dismiss Shadow Dragon Seltus through the Dragon God Oath."
Because of his decision, the Shadow Dungeon, which was supposed to be a dungeon instance, was now gone.
Luckily, the other players had no idea about these changes. Otherwise, Tristan might have had some unpleasant questions thrown his way.
"Hey, you just destroyed the dungeon! Where are we supposed to farm for gear now?!"
Soon enough, Tristan dismissed those thoughts and focused on riding the massive dragon.
Shadow Dragons were not conventional mounts. There was no saddle on its back, and its scales were smooth, making it difficult to stay on without some skill.
Luckily, the Shadow Dragon knew that Tristan was on its back, so it slowed its flight speed and used Umbra Energy to form a barrier that blocked the oncoming wind.
Tristan nodded. "You’re thoughtful."
Shadow Dragon responded, clearly pleased with the praise. It turned its head and said, "My Lord Shadow, you flatter me. This is only what I should do."
Seltus was very clear about its position.
Once it had decided to submit to Shadow, it would follow through completely.
Although Tristan’s level was still low, the previous battle had left a deep impression on the Shadow Dragon.
If not for its quick thinking and offer to become a mount, it might very well have been dead by now.
Instead, it was now flying in the air, feeling the joy of life once more.
After flying aimlessly for a while, Shadow Dragon asked, "My Lord Shadow, where are we going?"
Tristan glanced at the map. "Let’s fly north for a bit."
He planned to land outside Eldoria City, then take the teleportation circle back to Davi City. Tomorrow was the grand opening of his shop, and he couldn’t afford to be delayed.
As they flew, Shadow Dragon hesitated for a moment, then bravely said, "My Lord Shadow, I feel that your control over Shadow power! isn’t quite proficient yet."
It quickly added, "I’m not doubting your power, I just want to see if there’s any way I can help."
Tristan was intrigued.
Although the Shadow Dragon’s Umbra Energy wasn’t as strong as Shadow power!, it still had its merits. If he could master a bit of it, it could be useful.
After thinking for a moment, Tristan said, "That’s true. I just recently acquired Shadow power!, and I haven’t had anyone to guide me. There’s still a lot I don’t understand."
"I see."
Shadow Dragon seemed to understand and reassured him, "Don’t worry, My Lord Shadow. Shadow power! has been lost for many years, and its inheritance has almost disappeared. But if you search with dedication, you’ll surely find some traces."
Tristan then asked, "You said Shadow power! has been lost for many years. Do you know what happened?"
Shadow Dragon, with its inherited memories, might know some hidden secrets.
