Ashen Dragon-Chapter 618 - 58 Confronting the Three Gods_2
Upon seeing the divine incarnation covered in wounds, all present felt a peculiar wind surge, a bright white aurora flashing past, and all the anguish dissipated at that moment.
That was Ilmat, the God of Tears, the Lord of Fortitude, filled with kindness and compassion, a deity who frequently took upon Himself the suffering of mortals.
"My friends, the disaster that tormented the living has just ended, and the enemy from the Abyss has thus been vanquished.
This should be a time to pray for blessings for the innocents who lost their lives in this tragedy. Why turn your swords on each other?"
The voice of Ilmat, soft as a weeping tone, floated around the ears of those gathered like a breath of spring or a bath of holy water, significantly calming their minds.
The Heavenly Legion simultaneously lowered their weapons, looking reverently towards the distant incarnation of Ilmat, praising in unison.
"Praise be to the God of Tears."
"We sing of You, great martyr, Your goodness and tolerance make us feel unworthy."
The incarnation of Ilmat painfully turned its head, slowly lifting its broken, bruised arm, a gentle glow emanating from his eyes.
"Lord Tyr, why be so aggressive?
This Red Dragon has utterly slain an Abyssal Lord. He rightfully deserves the affirmation of the Gods, and... my praise."
Tyr’s anger on His face then eased slightly. He placed the Hammer of Justice at His side as if pondering Ilmat’s suggestion.
Cassius looked at the incarnation of Ilmat, limping across the ground, seemingly frail, a solemn light flickering in his pale golden pupils.
This God of Tears was not as benign and gentle as He appeared. His ability to subtly change the thoughts of the masses was already worthy of Cassius’s serious attention.
"One to play the good cop, the other the bad cop? It seems their objective is quite clear... it’s the Ancestor Dragon Corpse beneath my feet.
It’s about time for the Platinum Dragon God to make an appearance."
Perched atop Dragon Blood Mountain Peak, Cassius quietly listened to Ilmat’s words, like soft weeping, and thought to himself.
"Roar——"
Indeed, accompanied by a long roar, the biting North Wind blew over, and a glimmering light appeared on the horizon.
A slender, sinuous Platinum Dragon gradually revealed its form, its eyes radiating a blue light like the midsummer sky.
"It is Lord Bahamut!"
"Ah, the Lord of the North Wind!"
"Praise You! Great Father of Platinum, Master of Dragons!"
The Gold Dragons, Silver Dragons, and Brass Dragons at the edge of Ancytica immediately extended their necks in howls, issuing cheerful roars in unison, their wings flashing a metallic luster.
Under the pressure of the Dragon God, the Blue Dragons of the Faria family, the White Dragons with Ancestral Lineage, and the Sub-dragons with blood of the five-colored dragons all bowed their heads as well.
But in their gaze was not only reverence but also a veiled hostility.
"The hypocrite again! The deceitful, fickle old Dragon!
If it weren’t for Him, Lord Cassius would have already returned to the embrace of the Dragon Queen, joined with me, and birthed a powerful offspring!"
Christina ground her teeth in silent curse.
However, she would never dare to actually speak such words, even a Five-colored Evil Dragon would outwardly respect the Dragon God.
People, dragons, and angels with different thoughts raised their heads to see the fifty-plus-meter-long Platinum Dragon gracefully flying, swooping through the billowing clouds, and soon arriving in the skies only a few kilometers from Cassius.
The eyes of Bahamut’s incarnation swirled with blue light as He gazed at the Red Dragon perching on the mountain peak before He slowly spoke.
"Cassius, we meet again. I’m pleased to see you’ve maintained your sanity, not blinded by that power, and even killed... an Abyssal Lord.
Your emergence has surprised me; the Material Plane has not seen a giant dragon as powerful and with such a splendid record of battle for a very long time."
The Red Dragon slightly opened its wings, then nodded politely, saying, "Good day, Lord Bahamut. Compared to You, I have only done some trivial deeds."
He shook his head, his gaze also sweeping past the incarnations of the God of Justice and God of Tears: "I also greet You, Lord Ilmat, and... Lord Tyr.
Thank you for descending incarnations and lending a hand during the Empire’s critical moment of Abyssal invasion, alleviating much of the pressure off me in killing Gelrazax."
The face of Ilmat’s incarnation, constantly weeping for all living beings, slightly lifted into a gentle smile, while Tyr’s incarnation hovered in the air, clenching the Hammer of Justice, with a stern and impassive countenance, only snorting coldly.
Bahamut nodded lightly, His gaze then shifted to the majestic mountain beneath the Red Dragon, and the howling North Wind emerged from his mouth: "Cassius, you should know why we are here.
This is not about interests, it’s merely a piece of advice from an elder of the same race to a junior:
The greed for power is endless. You will often have to pay a heavy price for it: sanity, personality, memory, and even... the soul. I believe you’re well aware of this."
The Platinum Dragon flapped its wings, the bright silver of its broad wings shimmering in the sunlight. He raised a foreclaw, and a fierce image of a Red Dragon appeared in his palm.
"And Karex’s strength, even among my brothers and sisters, is the most uncontrollable. A slight misstep and you will be consumed by Him—"
Bahamut’s incarnation clenched its giant claw, the image abruptly ended, leaving only lingering flames.
