Ashen Dragon-Chapter 586 - 31 Position_2
Chapter 586: Chapter 31 Position_2
Chapter 586 -31 Position_2
Demons’ offensive was completely disrupted by these dozen or so steam tanks; they scurried around in the smoke like headless flies before being easily killed by any passing tanks.
But Demon Hunting Spiders were far from easy to deal with. As tools of the Abyssal Lords for chasing traitors, these spider monsters’ magical eyes possessed various enchantment effects such as “Dark Vision” and “Penetrate Barrier.”
Soon, these Demon Hunting Spiders had set their sights on the steam tanks navigating through the smoke, their eyes glowing with a ghostly light of preying focus.
“Arr…”
A hoarse growl echoed as the elephant-sized Demon Hunting Spider suddenly leaped, landing on the back of the steel behemoth.
Faced with such high-rank abyssal creatures, the Holy Water smeared on the tank’s surface had a negligible effect and couldn’t even penetrate its shell.
“Boom!”
The steam tank shook violently, its supposedly indestructible metal skin dented inward, and the drivers inside let out frantic screams of panic.
“It’s pounced on us!”
“Stay calm, there’s the emergency protection system!”
“Swish—”
The Demon Hunting Spider repeatedly stabbed its eight barbed claws into the vehicle’s body, producing a grating metallic screech on the armor’s surface.
These creatures were smart; they would look for gaps in the armor and stab their spear-like leg tips into them.
“Clang!”
Bill barely managed to stabilize himself inside the shaking vehicle.
Looking up at the claw that pierced through the armor gap, the Dragon Vein Goblin pointed at the ceiling and cursed wildly, “Damn spider creature! You think you can scratch through the skin of my darling ‘Indestructible’? Keep dreaming!”
After that, the Dragon Vein Goblin even bit down on a cigar.
At the moment the Demon Hunting Spider tried to tear open the armor, the steam tank’s magic-based defense system had already been triggered.
The magic circuits within the armor surged, releasing eye-piercing lightning.
“Zzzt—Boom!”
In an instant, intense lightning surrounded the entire steam tank, and the powerful electrical pulse blew the Demon Hunting Spider clinging to the roof away.
The massive spider creature fell nearby, still encircled by electric currents.
But as an Abyssal Lord’s creation, its life was incredibly tenacious!
The spider managed to prop itself up with its eight slender legs, unsteadily rising from the ground, its compound eyes filled with hatred.
The Demon Hunting Spider gathered its strength, aiming to leap onto the tank again and devour every little person inside the iron lump.
However, for the soldiers inside the steam tank, these few seconds of charging time were their best opportunity—
—the opportunity to kill the Demon Hunting Spider!
The Dragon Vein Goblin spat out his cigar, smoke billowing from his mouth as he manipulated the tank’s direction with his claws, while commanding loudly, “Now’s the time! Blow it up with the main cannon!
“Quick! Seize the chance!”
Almost simultaneously with Bill’s call, the gunner laboriously loaded the huge shell, closed the hatch, and the gun commander rapidly rotated the joystick.
Amidst the sound of gears, the steam tank’s unused main cannon swiveled to aim at the Demon Hunting Spider building up its strength in front.
With a heartrending screech, Bill shouted, “Send this bastard who dares to harm my precious ‘Indestructible’—
—to Hell!”
“Boom!”
A thunderous roar, the thick and pungent smell of gunpowder, and the steam tank itself moved back from the fearsome recoil, shaking and breaking the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
With the high-pressure magic steam boiler’s eruption, the massive, heavy armor-piercing shell was fired at an unimaginable speed from the stout cannon, across the smoke, towards the Demon Hunting Spider’s torso.
At the moment of contact with the Demon Hunting Spider’s body—
“Swish—”
The sharp and hard alloy bullet head effortlessly penetrated the spider’s shell, boring through its abdomen and creating a huge hole.
Following that, shell fragments and the burning armor-piercing core sprayed at high speed into the Demon Hunting Spider’s innards, turning its demonic flesh into a slurry.
Under this tremendous kinetic force, the spider creature, as large as an elephant, was flipped on the spot.
Shattered shards of shell, purple-black blood, and bits of organs splattered everywhere. The remaining charred body dropped and rolled on the ground a few times, twitched, and then lay still.
“Damn spider creature… thinking it can destroy my ‘Indestructible,’ that’s unforgivable!
“It might not be completely dead yet! Let’s go back and check!”
The Dragon Vein Goblin glared at the distant Demon Hunting Spider carcass, hatred flashing in his yellowish eyes as he fiercely manipulated the control stick, driving the steam tank over the spider’s mangled body.
“Clang!”
The already charred and broken corpses became even flatter.
But this Dragon Vein Goblin seemed still not satisfied, rolling back and forth over it several times—until the spider’s form was no longer discernible, resembling more a pancake mixed with shell, only then did it contentedly drive the tank away.
“For the Emperor!”
“For His Majesty Cassius!”
“Let these spider monsters witness the wrath of His Majesty Cassius!”
Soldiers inside the “Emperor’s Fury” shouted out in frenzied cheers as they drove the tanks even more recklessly into the ranks of the enemy.
In fact, these steam tanks were very specifically designed, as evidenced by the massive ramming horns and the powerful armor-piercing main gun—it was clear that these tanks were built to deal with swarms of weak enemies or massive beasts.
And their intended enemy was also very clear—abyssal demons.
In actuality, it was Cassius himself who put forth the design requirements, and the Ashen Empire had been planning for many years for this.
This scene also unfolded in various corners of the battlefield, where steam tanks charged into magic hordes and Imperial Infantry followed behind, capturing one stronghold after another, achieving the effect of infantry-tank cooperation.
“Boom!”
Another earth-shattering blast, a Demon Hunting Spider not far away got its head penetrated, its stinky brain matter and venom splattered.
The headless, massive body tumbled down the hillside and crushed many Coward Demons that couldn’t dodge in time.
“Boom! Boom! Boom!”
The six secondary guns spewed out intense tongues of fire, with gunpowder and flames nearly swallowing up all demons within a hundred meters.
And in that “Conqueror” steam tank, the Battlefield Wheelchair Man frantically pushed the control stick, bursting into wild laughter.
“Hahaha!
With such divine artifacts, who needs a wheelchair gun! What 0818, Type 2, Madison—all trash!
I say this steam tank is the ultimate wheelchair! Long live the Multi-Turret Cult!”
“Long live the Multi-Turret Cult!”
Players inside the tank watched the experience points rack up so quickly on the panel that it blurred, issuing extremely excited howls.
“Aooo—”
However, in the sky, abyssal drakes let out hoarse roars, flapping their broken, ugly wings, flying over the top of the steam tanks, spewing out scorching dark scarlet flames.
“Damn it? This thing doesn’t have anti-aircraft guns!”
“This designer is really an animal, installed nine secondary guns, but not a single anti-aircraft gun!”
“Don’t, it was so hard to finally get to operate a tank!”
“Boom!”
An abyssal drake suddenly dove down, clinging to the top of the turret, clawing at the tank’s armor incessantly.
The Battlefield Wheelchair Man had been too reckless just now and had driven straight into the magic horde; the steam tank’s built-in electromagnetic pulse had not yet recovered.
Moreover, in their overconfidence of the steam tank’s strength, they had ventured too deep, piercing hundreds of meters inside the demon’s position, even the following infantry couldn’t catch up.
As for the abyssal drake constantly shaking the tank, they were almost helpless.
Players even started blaming each other, focusing their fire on the most rash Battlefield Wheelchair Man—because he was the main driver.
“It’s all your damn fault, Battlefield Wheelchair Man!”
“Yeah, you really suck! You’re not allowed in the driver’s seat next time!”
“Go play with your wheelchair gun! I’ve learned a lesson now, you need the big shots to operate such vehicles!”
“Dang, this is our Mechanical God Cult’s private property! We spent big money to buy it!”
Players completely forgot about their own excited charging shouts from before, and now completely blamed the Battlefield Wheelchair Man.
“Aooo—”
Suddenly, a loud roar came from the sky, distinct from the grating screech of abyssal demons, this sound was especially deep and resonant.
“Is that…”
“Holy shit? Saved!”
Players in the tank saw what seemed like the first light of hope and quickly looked out through the observation scope.
That high in the sky was a scarlet deluge made up of bipedal wyverns and fire drakes, appearing from the flank of the battlefield.
That was the dragon horde of the Ashen Empire!
At the forefront of the troops, Alger raised his Everburning Greatsword and commanded loudly, “Red Scale Conquerors, charge!”
“Roar—”
Accompanied by the battle cries of dragons and knights, the scarlet deluge descended, breaking into the battlefield.
