Ascension of the Sylvan Cosmos-Chapter 408. Wall Forest Peculiarity.
Chapter 408 - 408. Wall Forest Peculiarity.
While Liu Shu's rested and was pampered by her lovers, she decided to start expanding through the Wall Forest. Unlike the previous , the Wall Forest had no World Trees that ruled it. Of course, the entire forest was deployed interlocked, and the plant life was not easy to subdue. Liu Shu was not intimidated, though.
When she started her advance, Liu Shu chose the middle area. This way, she would be able to enter the area controlled by the Celestial Lotus Empire once she crossed over. If she went directly west from where her main body was, she would enter Nexus Territory.
Liu Shu's roots advanced through, sometimes meeting some resistance. However, after reaching her current , the strength of her entire body was ridiculously high. Her
, even before any buff whatsoever, was over 45,000. That number was extremely ridiculous for someone at Level 60. As a reference, an average Level 60 human in the same would have around 19,000
.
Liu Shu hummed happily, her delivering the imagery of the Wall Forest quite clearly. 'A pretty forest! There is no involvement of external forces. Oh? A group of strange deer is giving birth! Ah... There is a predator watching them...'
Liu Shu saw the predator appear, and the deer all fled quickly. Of course, there was one that was left behind. 'That's... Well. Not being able even to open your eyes before you are devoured is quite a cruel fate.'
The forest was both wondrous and cruel, but that didn't make it less beautiful. Nature's cycle was something that all creatures could not escape. Some meet their end sooner rather than later.
'Hmm~, there is nothing really special about the Wall Forest other than the number of beasts and it being very big. So strange that no other World Tree had tried invading it. With its composition, it is not hard for it to become fragmented as World Trees in different parts of the continent start invading it. What makes it so special?'
Once she was halfway through, Liu Shu's root net paused. Feeling the atmosphere around her, her gaze became deep and pondering. 'Ho~?'
Had she not been attentive, she would've missed the very strange event that just happened. However, Liu Shu was quite sure of what she saw and felt. 'It twitched.'
What twitched? Everything. As if it were a massive behemoth about to wake up, all the roots that Liu Shu could sense twitched simultaneously once she arrived at the halfway point of the Wall Forest.
Liu Shu looked at one of the trees deeply and analyzed it.
***
Name: -----
Titles:
Race: Wall Forest Tree.
Level: 49
***
Liu Shu looked at another one of the trees, and the same information appeared, but with different levels. Still, the title was there. The more she looked, the more her confusion deepened. All of them had that one title.
'? What is that title? System? Wisdom?'
The description of the title popped into her eyes.
: All trees born from this type of tree will have this title. All creatures with this title are part of a large whole. When large connected parts are affected harshly, all trees will retaliate as one creature.
"Woah... That's a crazy title."
It looked relatively simple. However, if all trees in the Continent-dividing forest had this title, it would be a big problem. If everything awakens and attacks at the same time, millions of trees would attack Liu Shu simultaneously. Liu Shu was slightly bothered by this fact. "So, if I continue advancing, I will be attacked at the same time by all fauna and flora here. That's a big problem. I don't want to be on the receiving end of that attack."
After thinking for a little while and not finding a solution, she looked around her domain and found Verena. The mature Sylvan was sipping tea with Eila and Galia in Fortuna City. The tea was naturally made of Liu Shu's leaves. Being a massive tree had the advantage of producing a ridiculous amount of leaves.
"Verena, I am in trouble. Help me, pleasee~."
Verena's lips arched faintly. She could sense the lack of urgency in the tone, so she was not too worried. Still, she could naturally not ignore her dear daughter-in-law's plea. "Tell me, love. What's wrong?"
Liu Shu commented. "I've pierced through the and reached the middle of it. However..."
After explaining everything, the three Sylvans became thoughtful. Liu Shu complained and used one root to coil around Verena's waist. "Help. Give me ideas. I don't want to have my roots ripped apart by a hungry forest."
Eila took a sip and smiled. "Even World Trees are fearful of the forest. Truly magnificent.
Liu Shu pouted. "What do you know? This forest is like a big World Tree! I can't think of a single normal thing about an interconnected forest!"
Galia blinked and asked, curious. "Why not assimilate it, Liu Shu?"
Liu Shu commented. "Didn't you want me to enter the Celestial Lotus Empire territory as quickly as possible to help them? Assimilating a forest as big as the Wall Forest will take around three years!"
Galia was speechless. "Only three years?"
"Only!? That's enough for me to Level Up once naturally!"
This time, the three Sylvans were stunned on the spot. Verena asked, incredulous. "There is no way, right? How many Experience Points do you earn passively each day?"
"What's impossible? I earn 452 Experience Points daily. So I can Level Up in three years!"
All of them were speechless. Galia rubbed her forehead. "How is that possible? Not even humans earn so many Experience Points passively. And they are the ones with the highest Experience Point earning rate among all intelligent creatures."
Liu Shu exclaimed. "Woah~. Then, why are they not that powerful?"
Galia commented faintly. "That's easy to guess. Their lifespan is too limited. A creature gains vitality depending on how fast it Levels Up. If they reach level 50 during their early adulthood, a human can live upwards of 170 years. Humans who reach Level 75 while being relatively young can live for almost 250 years."
Liu Shu commented, speechless. "So little? Why do they die so quickly?"
Galia chuckled. "Well, in exchange for their short lifespans, they are incredibly fertile. If two humans are serious about having children, they can have around eight children in 9 years! That's the gestation period of a normal Sylvan."
Liu Shu muttered. "Wow. So, one Sylvan born per eight humans? That's a lot indeed."
Galia added. "The rates are more skewed. After all, Sylvans do not always give birth to Sylvans. They can give birth to plants and other beings."
Liu Shu giggled. "Like me! I am currently pregnant with Verdantia's child!"
Verena's hand tightened, and the teacup shattered. "E-Eh?"
Liu Shu commented, not knowing that she was sentencing a certain Life Sylvan to death. "Verdantia and I had intercourse, and now I have a big belly! Hehehe~. I wonder what I will give birth to."
Verena stood up slowly with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Love, where is my daughter? I have some words to share with her."
"She is my with the other three, why?"
Verena chuckled. "Nothing, baby. You don't need to worry about these things. I just want to have a small chat with my daughter."
Eila and Galia took a sip, and the black-haired woman sighed. "She has the guts to attack everyone's darling. She will go far places."
Galia looked at the menacing aura emitting from Verena and took another sip of the delicious tea. "She might go nowhere... Her journey ends here, poor thing."
Verena smiled. "Perhaps not her journey, but the one of that delinquent branch. I might snap it for a while so that she doesn't do anything similar."
Eila and Galia flinched. The mental image was truly painful.
"Hm... I don't understand, but what do I do about the Wall Forest?"
Galia commented. "Assimilate it, Liu Shu. The West Side is difficult to save even if you open a path. It would be better if you could take over the entire Wall Forest. We could use it as a trap in our future tactics. Giving up a chance to cripple the Nexus to save the Celestial Lotus Empire territory on the other side is... well, not ideal."
Liu Shu muttered. "But the Big Sister World Trees over there... Will they be able to resist? The Nexus has already gathered and is about to start an offensive, right?"
Galia smiled. "If you want them to resist longer, we can send some reinforcements. Still, the mainland has already been informed and will probably send reinforcements. Moreover, the Covenant is thirsty for revenge. After the blow in the Wild Continent, I heard that they've multiplied their efforts against the Nexus' main continent. That will keep the Nexus tied down for a few decades." Galia spoke softly. "If you can take over the continent in the next twenty years, the Nexus won't even be able to react."
"Twenty years, right?"
Liu Shu became thoughtful. "Should we send our flying division to cause some trouble? If I summon Arboreal Winged Serpents as support, they will be able to bombard the Nexus comfortably."
Eila smiled. "We'll take your suggestion into account. Now, go and start devouring the Wall Forest. We'll wait for you to swallow it completely. The faster you do it, the quicker we'll be able to help those on the other side."
Liu Shu's heart became determined. She spoke firmly. "Okay! I will try to assimilate the Wall Forest in less than three years!..." Liu Shu paused and commented. "But can I start after my Avatar gives birth? I won't be able to focus on the Avatar much otherwise."
Eila snorted. "What are your Sylvans there for? Let them accompany your Avatar. Once you are about to give birth, they will be in charge of helping you. Don't worry. Tell them to come down, though. We have a few words to tell them."
"Okaaay~."
Liu Shu's opened her comfortably closed eyes, and she smiled at them. The Sylvans smiled back, but their smiles quickly froze when cute Liu Shu spoke. "Verena and the others want to see all of you! Go down and wait for them where our Daughter Houses are."
Cinderielle coughed. "Daughter Houses... I think we need to name them, no?"
Harmonixia chuckled. "We should. What should we call those big girls? They've grown big enough to fulfill their role as a small house, but they still are quite young to take shape."
Tempestria looked at Verdantia's stiff face and smiled. "Afraid?"
Verdantia almost teared up. "Mom is going to kill me."
The other three felt somewhat sympathetic. Placing her hand on Verdantia's shoulder, Cinderielle smiled. "Good luck, sister!"
