Apocalyse: Marked by Chaos-Chapter 23 - Flames of Chaos
Chapter 23: Chapter 23 Flames of Chaos
A deafening howl tore through the battlefield.
Olivia barely registered the sound as she staggered, her body screaming for relief. Her vision swam, the world tilting beneath her feet. Her fingers twitched around her blade, but she had no strength left to lift it.
Diana collapsed beside her, barely able to breathe, her wind magic flickering around her fingers before dying out. Luke was on one knee, blood dripping from a deep gash in his side.
Tyler and Henrik stood back to back, fending off the Bowolfs, but their movements were sluggish, their attacks weaker.
The debris began to rumble, shaking violently before tentacles flew out from within it. The Octopus monster resurfaced, its remaining one eye looked mad and held evil intent.
They all turned towards the direction of the sound. Their mouths opened wide in fear and surprise. The weight of the collapsed cave didn't hold him down for a long time.
A deep rumbling vibration spread across the ground, as the monster moved towards them. Even the Bowolfs had to stop for a moment. Their bone-like tails stuck between their legs.
'No... no, no, no.' Olivia's thoughts spiraled in panic.
It seems like she brings nothing but destruction to those close to her. But why? Why did we have to encounter such a situation? She knew she would attract the bad attributes.
She turned to look at the other students. Bella had fallen, her whip lying limply in the dirt. Ellie was struggling to stand, her staff trembling in her grip.
Liam hovered in the air, releasing a massive energy, which disintegrated the Bowolfs into ashes. But his energy began to dim, blood splattered from his mouth, his body teetering dangerously like a candle about to be blown out.
This battle was over. They had lost.
And then... she caught a tiny movement from the corner of her blurred vision.
'Little White.'
He slithered from her pocket, his weak body glowing dimly. His tiny head lifted, surveying the battlefield. He understood their doom, if he did nothing, she would die. But he can't let her die, his efforts all this while will be lost. He will lose the only chance to return home, he will lose the sacred flame.
His eyes burned with resilience, as he weakly slithered towards the Bowolfs cores.
"Little White..." Olivia croaked, barely able to get the words out.
He turned his gaze to her, those bright, intelligent eyes staring right into her soul. Then, as if making a decision, he moved.
Fast.
He shot toward the nearest Bowolf carcass.
At first, Olivia didn't understand what was happening. Then, Little White sank his fangs into the monster's core.
A violent ripple of energy surged through his small body.
One core. Then another. And another. His tiny body devoured them, swallowing their energy whole.

Olivia felt a strange pulse in the air. The battlefield shifted.
The Bowolfs that had been attacking suddenly hesitated. Their glowing red eyes flickered with something that almost looked like... fear? Then, the ground beneath them trembled.
A brilliant burst of white light exploded from Little White's body. The sky above them cracked with power. And then, he changed.
In an instant, his tiny snake-like body stretched, growing rapidly. His white scales shimmered with blinding light. His form elongated, wings of pure white fire unfurled, his eyes now a brilliant gold.
A dragon had risen from the battlefield. The Bowolfs recoiled, snarling in panic. They knew they were prey now.
Little White's roar shook the heavens. A wave of scorching heat erupted from his mouth, a pillar of red fiery flames descending upon the monsters. The Bowolfs howled in agony as they were engulfed, their bodies disintegrating under the divine fire.
The Octopus Monster, now surrounded by the frenzied Bowolfs, tore through them with ease, crushing and devouring them, its power growing with each kill. His soulless eyes held a crazy glint as its eyes locked on the dragon.
Its tentacles swung towards the dragon, but they were disintegrated by its flames. A painful screech escaped the monster's mouth. But it won't give up on getting the dragon's core.
Soon a river of flames engulfed the Octopus monster. Tyler sighed in relief, at last they had won. He weakly built a barrier around them to protect them from the flame and the Bowolf monsters.
A smile tugged on the group's face. They didn't have the time to process the rare transition moment or how strange it was. They just wanted to leave there in one piece, alive.
Little White faltered mid-air, his energy was running out. He knew he wouldn't last long, he only wanted to use the short time he had to defeat the monsters.
The Octopus Monster's largest tentacle struck from the sea of flame, faster than a whip. Catching them all off guard.
It slammed into Little White's side. The dragon let out a pained roar, staggering mid-air.
Olivia's heart nearly stopped. Panic surged through her veins.
"NO! No no." Something inside her snapped.
A raging fire ignited in her veins, something deeper than magic, deeper than fear. It clawed to the surface, wild and untamed.
The moment she felt it, she knew It wasn't normal energy. It was like when she took the test, but this time, It was something far worse, primal and chaotic. Her body moved on its own.
Her vision blurred into crimson and gold. Fire erupted from her very skin, her blade shrouded in an inferno of raw, uncontrollable power.
"Olivia!" Diana called out. The students' eyes widened. Liam created another barrier, blood dripping from his lips as he tried to contain her flames.
The Octopus Monster snapped its soulless black eyes toward her, sensing the surge of raw power, just as she unleashed it.
A blinding storm of black and golden flames exploded from her, racing across the battlefield. The students were blown away by its fury.
Olivia's body was engulfed by the flames of Chaos itself. And everything burned at its touch.
[SYSTEM WARNING!!!]
[The Fire of Chaos has been activated.]
[Host body is unstable. Continued use will lead to destruction.]
[Options:1 – Unleash the full power of Chaos Fire (Fatal Consequences!)
2 – Suppress it (Severe backlash & long-term damage)]
A red system screen flashed in Olivia's blurred vision, the warnings blaring like sirens in her mind.
Raw power surged within her veins, like molten lava coursing under her skin, demanding to be set free. She could barely breathe. She swayed, her knees almost giving out.
The world around her felt distant, muffled as though she were standing at the center of a raging storm.
Her eyes glinted, she had to unleash the power, there is no other way. " I'd be stupid to suppress and suffer long term damage, I'd rather... be free." A pulse of energy rippled outward. Then...
Boom!
A shockwave of raw, searing fire erupted, consuming everything.
[WARNING! Choosing this path will lead to irreversible consequences]
Olivia was done listening. Because beyond the flashing warnings, beyond the roaring battlefield, she saw him.
Little White writhed in the Octopus Monster's grip, its massive tentacles constricting around him, dragging him toward the earth.
Thud.
His once radiant body dulled, the light within him flickering like a dying star. His breaths came in ragged gasps, his massive form trembling on the brink of collapse. He roared, a weak flick of fire flowing from his mouth. He was fading... dying.
She heard his roar and just like that... the last string shattered. Pain, grief, revenge and power coursed through her veins, every step she took, burned everything in her path, a devilish smirk formed on her lips.
For the first time, she felt untouchable. Unstoppable. And she liked it.
