Bai Meiyue was still in a slight daze, as she hadn't been sleeping for the past few days but her mind cleared up when she heard Wan Guofu's voice. She raised her head and turned to look at Wan Guofu and the rest of the team members. They were running downstairs with heavy backpacks on their backs as if they were leaving the complex for days.

Seeing this, Bai Meiyue immediately chased after them. She caught hold of Yang Chunhua, who was running out of the complex sneakily with Liu Mei. "What happened?" she asked with a stern voice while holding Yang Chunhua's wrist.

"Sister Yue." Yang Chunhua looked at Bai Meiyue with a hint of hesitation on her face. She said to Bai Meiyue, "Its nothing —"

"Don't lie to me!"

"Its Master Lei," Liu Mei was the one who replied to Bai Meiyue when Yang Chunhua was hesitating. Yang Chunhua turned to look at the latter when she saw her speak, only for Liu Mei to roll her eyes and say, "Do you think that you can leave without telling the truth to Sister Yue?" She then turned to look at Bai Meiyue and said to her, "Master Lei sent an SOS." She showed the walkie-talkie that the entire team had with them when they went out on a mission.

"It seems like something happened to him when he was returning."

When Bai Meiyue heard that something happened to Lei Qian, she didn't even think twice before running downstairs with the rest of the team. When Bai Jixuan saw his sister running like her life was on the line, he was so anxious that he shouted before he could think things through, "Yueyue! Don't run. Think about the child in your belly!"

Bai Meiyue didn't hear him but Yang Chunhua, Liu Mei and Liu Che heard him.

Where did a child pop out of nowhere?

Bai Meiyue however, didn't know that her brother had disclosed her secret. She ran to the parking lot and got into a car with Wan Guofu.

"You…"

"Step on the pedal." Bai Meiyue turned to look at the man while putting on the seat belt. She was careful not to strangle the child in her belly. "We don't know what kind of condition Lei Qian must be in at the moment. We cannot waste more time."

As much as Wan Guofu would have loved to fight it off with Bai Meiyue, he knew that he couldn't. He stepped on the accelerator and they drove out of the parking lot just in time for Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan to catch the exhaust. They saw the car driving away and suddenly became really worried.

With Wan Guofu driving the car so recklessly, what if he caused the foetus in their sister's belly to be startled?

Worried and anxious, they immediately chased after the two of them.

Bai Meiyue, who was sitting in the car beside Wan Guofu, rubbed her forehead with a hint of annoyance on her face. She wondered what was going on with Lei Qian. She knew that man; he would never ask for help unless he was in real danger. She wondered if something serious happened to him.

And to make things worse, the blazing loudspeaker made her head hurt. One of these days, she was going to make that thing explode! That tormenting thing needed to be destroyed or else she would go crazy.

The safe base had gotten much bigger than it was previously. Even though it was not completely built, it was still being guarded as if it was a fortress. As they drove to the southern exit where Lei Qian was at the moment, the sound of the loudspeaker dulled and turned into an echo.

However, the sound was soon replaced with yells and gunshots. Among them, the sound of someone crying also echoed in the air.

Bai Meiyue frowned when she heard the yells but her furrow between her brows turned even more serious when she heard someone sob. What was going on? Who was crying?

They soon arrived at the sight of the gunfire and found Lei Qian being surrounded by the snipers. He was standing in the centre with everyone pointing their guns at his head. When Bai Meiyue heard the sound of gunshots, she thought that these soldiers were targeting zombies.

She never thought that so many soldiers would actually move to target one man.

Lei Qian, who sent the SOS, was standing in the middle of the circle while looking at the woman who had stopped him from entering the base. He didn't know that just a few days would bring so many changes.

He looked at the woman and said to her in a stern voice, "I told you that I have no intention to follow you, Miss Yu. Please step aside and let me drive past."

He never. Not even in his wildest dreams did he think that he would be intercepted by a woman who would actually demand him to follow her, followed by the words that she had set her sights on him. Did she think that he needed a woman to set her eyes on him? He had already set his eyes on someone else!

"Lei Qian!" Grandma Lei was stunned when she heard her grandson refuse Yu Miaomiao for the second time. She slapped him on the back and snapped at him, "What do you think you are doing? Lei Qian ignored the elderly woman. He knew that his grandmother didn't care about his grandfather. The one thing that she cared about was her comfort. She was worried that if he didn't follow Yu Miaomiao, then she would have to live a life of trouble. Thus, Grandma Lei didn't even think twice before selling him, her grandson!
