Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 50: The Escaping Fallen Beast
Su Yining heaved a sigh of relief. Thanks to her cue, Yuanyuan opened the message she sent him on time. It was really exciting to help them solve a case. So exciting that she almost forgot to harvest the rice!
Luckily, Xie Ziyuan also could read her ugly drawings, which she had taken a picture of and sent it through the chat. She had sent him another location. It was a butcher house with some suspicious creatures inside.
There were ferocious, completely animal-like creatures inside cages and bound by chains. Then, a small suspicious lump of a dark item, seemingly rotten, wriggling.
Even through a pixelated image, she could feel a slight nausea hit her.
At this moment, Ma Yongcheng burst open through the door, slamming the monkey beastman inside. The latter crashed into a fallen beast.
"Help!" The monkey beastman squaked, horrified at the sight of a fallen beast rising to its feet and stalked him. He froze in his place in fear before he desperately crawled away.
Inside the butcher house—the place where they usually store and chop their games—all the fallen beasts stirred. They faced the beastmen with bloodthirsty eyes, lacking any human emotions.
Soon, the fallen beasts roared and sprang toward them. The cages shook violently and the chains rattled, creating a lot of noises.
The village’s resources were scarce, but they still had two cages and some chains. Two fallen beasts were confined inside their cages while the rest were chained. Previously, they had used the chains for half-dead fierce beasts.
There should be four fallen beasts in total, but...
"Where is the other one?" The beastmen were horrified when they only saw three.
The monkey beastman had landed on the last chained fallen beast, lucky enough to have escaped its range the moment it lunged toward him.
The other fallen beast who had escaped should be the second one bound by chains.
They all glanced at the surroundings, afraid that the escaped fallen beast would jump out at them any moment.
"it must have escaped!" The beastmen’s hearts were filled with fear and trepidation.
Elder Peng frowned. He didn’t hesitate to order the present beastmen, "Search through the entire village."
They all nodded, and the strong beastmen began to work. Some stayed in the butcher house, opening all the rooms including the underground ice cellar. The remaining beastmen searched in the vicinity and other places.
Leng Chuan swept his gaze at the busy beastmen, furrowing his brows. He dragged the monkey beastman, making the latter hissed and wailed in pain. "What are you going to do with these two? You can’t possibly just let them go, right?"
The remaining beastmen looked at Elder Peng. Because it concerned the safety of all the beastmen, this time they were on Leng Chuan’s side.
On top of that, the evidence they had shown was enough to make them believe Lu Qingtang was actually innocent.
Of course, some people were still stubborn at heart, believing Lu Qingtang was still at fault regardless. They would find excuses like it must have been because of her the mastermind was targeting these beastmen. After all, they all had contact with her previously.
Elder Peng paused for a moment, then told them. "Just tie them. We will handle those two later after the escaping fallen beast is caught."
The beastmen executed his order, taking the monkey beastmen from Ma Yongcheng and Leng Chuan’s hands, tying the pair of horrified beastmen. Their hands and feet were bound together, their mouths gagged.
Leng Chuan raised his eyebrows when he saw this. "Why do you need to gag them? The fallen beasts are also noisy but you do not gag them."
The beastmen were unsure, but since it was Elder Peng’s order, they could only find a reason. "What do you know? Monkeys’ screeching voices are hurtful to our ears, worse than fallen beasts’ roars."
He nodded noncommittally, shifting his attention to Xie Ziyuan, subconsciously straightening himself like a soldier seeing their superior.
Ma Yongcheng, in his fury, had joined the search party.
"You two, come with me." Xie Ziyuan told them in an indifferent tone as soon as Ma Yongcheng returned.
"Tang’er..." Ma Yongcheng subconsciously called his wife’s name, now a little unsure.
"You go, I can protect myself and the kids." Lu Qingtang waved her hand. "I have already recovered."
In the end, Lin Yu’an stayed with Lu Qingtang. He was secretly clutching the dagger in his waist. His other hand tightened on his crossbow. Leng Chuan and Ma Yongcheng followed Xie Ziyuan.
The beastmen felt awkward around Lu Qingtang, so most of them just left her alone and didn’t disturb her. However, they were also curious where Xie Ziyuan’s party had gone. Unable to resist their curiosity any longer, they followed the silver wolf’s group.
Even the somewhat frantic Zhao Chunmei was nowhere to be found.
Xie Ziyuan stopped after he walked a short distance. He turned his attention to the corner of a house. In a flash, his figure appeared in front of that house and slammed it open.
There was a figure crouching inside.
A familiar wolf with red eyes appeared in front of the crowd, who were still panting as they tried to catch up with Xie Ziyuan.
"There you go, you found your missing fallen beast." Xie Ziyuan said disdainfully and stepped to the side so that all beastmen could see.
Strangely enough, there was a stunned look on the wolf beastman’s face. However, what made it more odd was that...
He was back in his beastman form, with beast tail and ears but a human figure. Fallen beasts were usually feral and uncontrollable, complete beasts in form and mind. Obviously, he was a little too calm. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The beastman’s face paled, realizing what was about to happen. He sprang to his feet, and at this moment, the creature near his feet was revealed for all to see.
A wriggling dark item, full of maggots black substance. The creature was too small to be a former beastman—it was a fierce beast species which had turned into a zombie.
Fierce beasts were more immune to pollution substance, but it didn’t mean there weren’t any fierce beast zombies. They were just more rare.
By instinct, even fierce beasts sometimes knew to deal and bury their fellow fierce beast which had turned into zombies. After all, they were also detrimental to the environment.
At this moment, Zhao Chunmei burst into the room, shielding her husband who were trying to escape from Ma Yongcheng and Leng Chuan. "He is not a fallen beast! You are not allowed to take him away!"
