Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts-Chapter 382 - 16 Dawn_1
The next moment, the sky fell and the earth sank!
This wasn’t a figure of speech but a literal apocalypse.
The sky splintered like shattered glass, and then a furious consciousness surged forth.
Facing this apocalyptic scenario, Wen Yu remained rooted to the spot. He stared directly at "Kuangliu," asking quickly yet clearly, "Who are you? What did you do to me?"
The "Kuangliu" in front of him couldn’t be the real Kuangliu. The last sentence he had just uttered didn’t contain a hint of despair typical of a pawn. Instead, it was filled with advice. To be blunt, Wen Yu was far more powerful than Kuangliu. Did Wen Yu really need Kuangliu’s advice? Kuangliu was certainly self-aware. So, the man currently sitting before Wen Yu, discussing things like game boards and chess players, could not be Kuangliu!
Hearing Wen Yu’s question, "Kuangliu" let out a cryptic smile. Then, a wave of consciousness was directly transmitted into Wen Yu’s mind.
"Remember what I told you! Become stronger! Become the strongest!"
The next second, "Kuangliu" vanished completely into light!
Then, Wen Yu felt a moment of haziness. Two incredibly potent consciousnesses tangled within his mind, making it buzz as if a battle were raging inside. However, Wen Yu couldn’t sense anything!
Vaguely, Wen Yu heard a faint MEOW, and then he abruptly sat up!
He was in his hotel room. Outside, the sky was beginning to show the first light of dawn.
Daybreak had arrived, or rather, was just beginning.
"Wake up! Wake up quickly!"
Wen Yu forcefully shook Cyclops and Star, rousing the two beasts.
Despite their cute appearance in their miniaturized state, they had quite a temper when awakened.
But Wen Yu didn’t give them a chance to get angry!
"I’ve been played!"
If Wen Yu wasn’t aware he’d been ensnared after experiencing two—maybe three—illusions, then he might as well bang his head against a wall!
Seeing Wen Yu’s serious expression, Cyclops and Star understood the gravity of the situation. They stared at Wen Yu unblinkingly, waiting for him to voice his thoughts.
"Last night, I had a dream. Then I heard a MEOW, woke up, tied a knot in Cyclops’s whiskers, fell asleep again, and had another dream. Finally, I heard another MEOW..."
Thinking of this, Wen Yu carefully examined Cyclops’s whiskers and the butterfly knot tied around them. After a long pause, he shook his head.
"Three consecutive times, all were illusions. I didn’t tie this butterfly knot."
A Level 5 professionist’s memory was remarkable, and Wen Yu’s control over his own body was exceptionally fine. The knot on Cyclops’s whiskers showed subtle differences from his own handiwork! The differences were so subtle that if Wen Yu hadn’t questioned the authenticity of the event, he wouldn’t have noticed anything different about the knot on Cyclops’s whiskers!
To have three dreams in a single night was highly unusual, especially when the last two felt incredibly real. If Wen Yu were to claim nothing was amiss, likely even Cyclops wouldn’t believe him.
After pondering for a while, Wen Yu asked Star, "You really sensed the aura of a divine beast seed yesterday, right?"
Star blinked its large eyes at Wen Yu, then feigned deep thought.
"You either sensed it or you didn’t!"
Seeing Star’s act, Wen Yu’s tone turned stern.
Star, startled by Wen Yu’s sudden severity, pouted aggrievedly. "The aura was faint and intermittent... I’m not sure if it was real..."
Wen Yu felt helpless.
Star didn’t lie. If it said it couldn’t confirm, then it truly couldn’t.
Wen Yu frowned in contemplation for a while, then finally said with hesitation, "It should have been a divine beast seed... I heard a cat’s MEOW in two of the dreams. It might be a feline divine beast seed..."
"Wait, I’m not sure if it was a divine beast seed. A Peak Level 5 mutant cat with a powerful skill set or SSS-Class, even Esoteric Level skills might be able to pull me into a dream!"
"But something is really strange. In the three dream sequences, the first one was different from the latter two. The first dream was just a slightly clearer nightmare. But in the second and third dreams, I couldn’t distinguish between reality and the dream... and there were two cat’s MEOWS."
The more Wen Yu thought, the more confused he became. Eventually, he even began to doubt if he was still dreaming. Consequently, he spent nearly half an hour pondering whether his current state was dream or reality.
After trying various methods to confirm reality—spinning a top, pinching Cyclops, pinching Star, and so on—Wen Yu finally abandoned these chaotic thoughts, grumbling, "That’s why I hate mysterious abilities like these!"
Wen Yu leaped off the bed, holding Cyclops and Star in his arms as he went to freshen up in the bathroom.
The sun was shining brightly today. In the second-floor dining room, Wen Yu carried a large platter of breakfast over to Kuangliu and Claus’s table.
Kuangliu and Claus were conversing happily. Seeing Wen Yu approach, Claus respectfully offered him a chair before turning to leave.
"Wait. Let’s eat together. I see that you haven’t finished your food. Wasting food isn’t a good habit."
Wen Yu smiled and stopped Claus. Before Claus could react, Wen Yu already had him seated at the dining table.
Now, even Kuangliu understood that Wen Yu was troubled... and in a rather foul mood.
Claus didn’t dare to move an inch. Kuangliu, however, asked, "What’s wrong?"
Wen Yu shook his head and responded, "What were you guys discussing just now? You seemed to be enjoying the conversation."
Kuangliu calmly sipped his porridge and replied evenly, "We were discussing what happened yesterday, and what’s to come today and in the future."
"Oh?"
"Claire will be coming in the next few days. And I’ll be going to Washington before the demon plague to help the American military resist it there."
"That’s the instruction Lin Haifeng gave me."
Wen Yu nodded. Kuangliu continued, "The American military wants you to go to Washington too. As for the cost..."
"Claire will negotiate the price with me, right?"
Kuangliu nodded, unbothered by Wen Yu’s interruption. Having faced trials together in the Demon Town Tower, and with their strengths being comparable, there was naturally no need for formalities between them.
"By the way, I have a question for you. Do you have any particular goal?"
