Chapter 46: Shadows of Vengeance

The moment of intimacy shattered as a low, guttural laugh echoed through the ruins.

Lucian and Evelyn turned sharply.

Dorian staggered to his feet, his body bruised, his lip curled into a twisted grin. Blood dripped from his forehead, but his eyes gleamed with something dangerous—something unbroken.

"You really think this is over?" Dorian spat, wiping the blood from his mouth. "You think a little power makes you untouchable?"

Lucian smirked, stepping forward. "No, Dorian. My power makes me unstoppable."

Dorian let out a dark chuckle, rolling his shoulders. "We'll see about that."

Then—

BOOM!

A shockwave burst from Dorian's body, the force sending Evelyn stumbling back. Lucian planted his feet, unfazed, watching as black tendrils of energy coiled around Dorian's frame.

Evelyn's eyes widened. "That's—"

"Yeah." Lucian's smirk didn't fade. "He's finally showing his real strength."

Dorian vanished, moving at an impossible speed.

Lucian barely tilted his head as a fist blurred past, missing him by inches. He countered instantly, delivering a bone-crushing punch to Dorian's ribs.

CRACK!

Dorian coughed blood but retaliated, slamming his elbow into Lucian's jaw. The impact was like a gunshot.

BANG!

Lucian barely stumbled. He licked the blood from his lip, eyes glowing with amusement. "That all you got?"

Dorian growled. "You arrogant bastard—"

WHOOSH!

Lucian vanished, reappearing behind Dorian. Before he could react, Lucian buried his knee into Dorian's spine, sending him crashing through the concrete.

BOOM!

Dust and debris shot into the air.

Evelyn watched in awe, her fingers gripping her weapon. "He's toying with him..."

Lucian stood over the wreckage, watching as Dorian struggled to rise. He tilted his head. "Come on, get up. This isn't even fun yet."

Dorian's breathing was ragged. His eyes burned with hatred. "You think you've already won?"

Lucian chuckled. "I don't think—I know."

Dorian's aura exploded, the ground beneath them cracking and shattering. He lunged—his speed doubling—his fists crackling with dark energy.

Lucian grinned, catching Dorian's fist with one hand. The impact sent a shockwave through the battlefield, but Lucian didn't budge.

He tightened his grip, bones grinding beneath his fingers. Dorian gasped.

Lucian leaned in, his voice a low, chilling whisper.

"You were never my equal."

Then—

He snapped Dorian's wrist.

CRACK!

Dorian let out a scream, staggering back.

Lucian didn't give him time to recover. His fist slammed into Dorian's gut, lifting him off the ground before a final, devastating kick sent him flying through the ruins.

BOOOOOM!

The battlefield fell silent.

Lucian dusted off his coat, eyes glowing crimson. "Pathetic."

Evelyn approached cautiously, her heart still racing. "Is he—?"

Lucian smirked. "No. But he wishes he was."

From the rubble, Dorian's broken form twitched.

Lucian sighed. "Guess I'll have to finish this properly." He cracked his knuckles, stepping forward.

But in the distance—

A shadow watched.

And smiled.
