Chapter 260 - 232 Wataru Playing Final Fantasy Part 3
Wataru continued playing Final Fantasy, ready to face Garland and rescue the princess. The game had already pulled him in with its immersive world and strategic combat, and now, the first real challenge was right in front of him. He smirked as Garland appeared on the screen, delivering his nasty taunt.
"Hahaha! The princess is mine! The king's lapdogs! Do you have any idea who you're dealing with? I, Garland, shall knock you all down!"
Wataru grinned. "Oh, it's time for the first boss fight? Bring it on, scrub!"
The battle began, and Wataru quickly realized that Final Fantasy's combat had much more depth than he initially expected. Having four characters with unique abilities made every encounter more tactical than the straightforward battles he was used to in Dragon Quest. At first, he fell into old habits, spending over an hour grinding for gold to buy weapons and armor for his party at the shop in Cornelia. But his excitement quickly turned to frustration when he entered a dungeon shortly after and defeated a mini-boss, only to receive the exact same weapons he had just spent hours grinding for.
"What the hell!?" he groaned. "I wasted so much time grinding for nothing!" He sighed and shook his head. "Alright, lesson learned. No more pointless grinding. Just explore and keep going."
With that, Wataru changed his approach, and to his surprise, the game rewarded exploration over excessive grinding. He followed the story and ventured to Pravoka, where he faced a gang of pirates. The battle was tough, but after defeating them, he was rewarded with a ship. This opened up the world even more, and he was excited to set sail. From there, he arrived in Elfheim, where he encountered the dark sorcerer Astos, who had cursed the elf prince into an endless slumber. Wataru had to retrieve the Mystic Key from the Western Keep to progress, leading him to a dungeon filled with undead enemies. It was here that he realized just how valuable his White Mage's Dia spell was, as it wiped out multiple enemies at once.
The more he played, the more he appreciated how different Final Fantasy was from Dragon Quest . Instead of grinding endlessly, he found himself exploring new locations, uncovering hidden treasures, and solving puzzles. His journey took him to Melmond, a town devastated by the decay of the Earth Crystal. From there, he ventured into the Cavern of Earth, where he faced the dreaded Vampire. Thinking it was the dungeon boss, he fought hard and defeated it, only to realize it wasn't the real source of the corruption. The true boss, Lich, the Fiend of Earth, awaited deeper in the dungeon.
The battle against Lich was intense. The undead fiend unleashed powerful spells, nearly wiping out his team multiple times. His Black Mage barely survived the onslaught, his White Mage had to use every healing spell available, and his melee fighters had to land their strongest attacks. With careful planning and a bit of luck, Wataru managed to defeat Lich, restoring the Earth Crystal's power.
"This game keeps getting better and better!" he exclaimed.
As he progressed, Wataru reached the Citadel of Trials, a legendary location where only the bravest warriors could prove themselves. After navigating through teleporting rooms and defeating powerful enemies, his party underwent an incredible transformation. Each character evolved into an advanced version of their original class. His Warrior became an Ultimate Warrior, capable of wielding even stronger weapons and get plenty of New Skills. His Black Mage evolved into a Warlock, gaining access to the most devastating spells. His White Mage became a Sage, unlocking the full potential of both healing and support magic. His Paladin transformed into a Grand Paladin, making him an unstoppable force on the battlefield while also Tanky as hell.
"Whoa! My heroes are upgrading their jobs!? That's so cool!" he shouted, eyes wide with excitement. "This is way better than just leveling up!"
Now stronger than ever, Wataru pushed forward, exploring the Sunken Shrine, the Mirage Tower, and the Flying Fortress. Each of these dungeons introduced new challenges, including stronger enemies and intricate puzzles. It was during these explorations that he stumbled upon a hidden cave where he encountered Zabo-man.
Zabo-man grinned and said, "You're very cool for finding me. Here's something special for you."
A notification popped up on the screen: Obtained Z-Weapon!
Wataru quickly checked the item's stats and nearly jumped out of his seat. "Holy crap! This weapon is insane! It's like one of the best in the game!" He equipped it immediately, excited to see how powerful it was in battle.
After hours of adventure, Wataru finally reached the game's final dungeon—the Chaos Shrine. As he made his way through its dark corridors, he discovered the shocking truth. Garland, the knight he had defeated at the beginning of the game, was the true mastermind behind everything. Through a time loop, he had transformed into Chaos, an all-powerful entity that sought to plunge the world into eternal darkness.
"Whoa... this story actually has a crazy twist!" Wataru muttered, gripping his controller tightly. "I didn't see that coming!"
Determined to end the cycle, Wataru's party traveled back in time and faced Chaos in the ultimate battle. The fight was unlike anything he had encountered before. Chaos had no weaknesses and unleashed devastating attacks that nearly wiped out his team. His White Mage worked overtime, barely keeping everyone alive. His Black Mage unleashed the strongest spells available, while his Warrior and Paladin struck with everything they had. The battle lasted for what felt like an eternity, but finally, after a grueling fight, Chaos was defeated.
As the final cutscene played, Wataru watched in awe as the world was restored to peace. But then, an unexpected twist was revealed.
The world was saved, but the Warriors of Light would be forgotten. The endless cycle of Chaos had been broken, and history had been rewritten. No one would remember their names, their struggles, or their victories. They had saved the world, but they would vanish into legend, existing only as a forgotten story.
Wataru leaned back in his chair, letting the weight of the ending sink in. "That... was amazing," he whispered. "The whole story, the combat, the secrets... Everything about this game was incredible."
As the credits rolled, he crossed his arms, deep in thought. "I could replay this with a different party setup... maybe try classes I didn't use this time?" A grin spread across his face. "Yeah... I'm definitely playing this again."
