After Zaboru finished his visit with Toki, he decided to stop by Satonaka's Dream Catcher arcade. As he walked in, the familiar buzz of arcade machines filled his ears, blending with the excited chatter of customers. The sight before him made him grin—Satonaka had taken Toki's advice seriously. Rows of ZEPS consoles had been set up in a corner of the arcade, where players eagerly lined up to try out the latest games. It was fascinating to see how quickly arcade owners were adapting to the shift in gaming culture.
"Hello, Satonaka-san," Zaboru greeted with a friendly nod as he approached the counter.
Satonaka, who had been adjusting the settings on one of the arcade cabinets, turned around at the sound of Zaboru's voice. His face lit up with recognition. "Ah, it's you, Zaboru. Come here, boy."
Zaboru stepped forward, and the two exchanged a firm handshake before diving into conversation. "So, Satonaka-san, how's the arcade holding up?"
Satonaka let out a deep sigh, rubbing the back of his neck before offering a lopsided grin. "Well, it's not bad, really. But I won't lie to you, boy. At this rate, arcades might be on their last legs. Home consoles like your ZEPS are pulling people away. The times are changing, and I don't know how much longer arcades will stay relevant."
Zaboru nodded, understanding the concern all too well. The shift to home gaming was undeniable, and it was only going to become more dominant. "Don't worry, Satonaka-san. In the future, I might expand into arcade gaming too. There will always be something new for arcades if the right ideas are put into play."
Satonaka's eyes widened slightly at the statement, clearly intrigued. "If that time ever comes, promise me you'll let me know first, boy."
Zaboru smirked. "Of course. Satonaka-san "
Satonaka leaned against the counter, arms crossed. "By the way, how's your company's security holding up?"
Zaboru's expression turned a bit more serious. "Thanks to your advice, I ended up hiring the Hamazou family. They're expensive, but I have to admit, they really hold their word. I've been impressed with their work so far."
Satonaka let out a hearty laugh. "Good for you, boy. A company like yours needs strong security. You're growing fast, and that always attracts trouble. I just hope you and ZAGE make it big. Though, by the time you reach the top, I might already be six feet under! Hahaha!"
Zaboru chuckled at Satonaka's usual blunt humor. The old man always had a way of making serious matters feel lighter. They continued to chat for a while, exchanging industry insights and personal updates. The conversation drifted from gaming trends to stories of the past, with Satonaka reminiscing about the golden age of arcades and how he had never imagined home consoles would evolve so quickly. Zaboru listened intently, absorbing every bit of wisdom.
After a while, Zaboru checked his watch. He still had a full schedule ahead. "I should get going, Satonaka-san. Thanks for the chat."
Satonaka waved him off with a grin. "Anytime, boy. Don't forget about us arcade folks when you're sitting on top of the world."
Zaboru laughed. "Not a chance."
With that, he bid farewell and stepped outside, the cool evening air greeting him. He climbed into his sleek Silver Wrecker and started the engine. As he drove back to his office, he let his mind wander, reflecting on everything that had happened.
'I can't believe how far I've come. ZAGE isn't even a year old yet, but the progress has been incredible. So many things are happening at once, and if I don't keep moving forward, I might get left behind. I just hope things keep going smoothly.'
The streets were calm as he made his way through the city, humming a familiar tune while keeping one hand on the steering wheel. Streetlights illuminated the roads, and the neon glow of advertisements flickered in the distance. Even in this quiet moment, his mind was filled with ideas—new game mechanics, marketing strategies, and future expansions. There was so much to do, and never enough time.
Once he arrived at his office, he wasted no time diving back into work. The March game releases needed final touches, and every detail mattered. He pored over marketing reports, game test feedback, and promotional strategies, ensuring everything was in perfect order. Hours passed in what felt like minutes, and before he knew it, the clock on his desk read past midnight.
Leaning back in his chair, he stretched his arms and let out a deep breath. The exhaustion was there, but so was the satisfaction. Every decision, every move he made, was building something greater. The foundation of ZAGE was solidifying, and he was determined to make sure it would stand the test of time.
Finally, he decided to call it a night at 23:11. He grabbed his coat, shut off the lights, and stepped outside once again. The streets were quieter now, the city resting before another bustling day. As he walked to his car, he took one last glance at the ZAGE building, a small smile forming on his lips.
'This is just the beginning.'
With that, he got into his Trusty Steed when coming home, The Silver Wrecker the ultimate Bike known to Humankind ready to take on whatever came next.
