With Evelyn no longer obstructing its path, the monster withdrew its serpentine tail and hurled it in my direction.

At that moment, my body was sliding toward the monster's underbelly. However, the advancing tail forced me to abandon my plan and swiftly drive the katana into the ground.

I came to an abrupt halt, my body ceasing its movement an inch away from the spot the creature had struck with its tail.

Without affording me a moment of respite, the monster raised its serpent tail and struck it at me. I rolled aside to evade the impending blow, but the creature retracted its tail and launched yet another assault.

As the monster focused on me, Evelyn leaped from the pillar where she had taken refuge and swung her kusarigama. The sharp end of the weapon spun from her left to right, tracing two blurred circles that looped around her like electrons orbiting the nucleus of an atom.

As she descended upon the monster, she unleashed the sickle end of the Kusarigama. The blade sliced through the thick hide of the creature's left rib, releasing a flow of green blood.

The monster emitted a high-pitched scream, its gaze fixed on Evelyn as she descended onto the stone pavement.

While the monster was distracted, I rolled and stood up, taking several backward steps to put some distance between myself and the creature.

The monster let out another piercing scream and shook its colossal legs, trying to crush Evelyn beneath their overwhelming weight.

Seizing the opportunity presented by the chaos, I advanced toward the disoriented monster and leaped four meters into the twilight sky.

As my body hurtled toward the mosquito-like head of the creature, it extended its needle-like proboscis, which elongated to ten times its original length, its sharp tip precisely targeting my heart.

Evelyn rose to her feet, her body drenched in the blood that had poured from the monster's belly, and she walked over to stand beside me.
