Chapter 435: Chapter 224 Ambush, Attack
A violent interrogation subdued those involved in human trafficking, and the Beggar Gang Disciples extracted information on the gang’s members from them and reported back to the General Sect Leader.
"Boss, they operate as a gang, there are six of them. The rest are resting in shifts in the suburbs. Someone is specifically responsible for connecting with Heaven’s Gate members in the Qiliye Mountain Range. They received an advance payment online and kidnapped homeless people as required. After completing the transaction, they receive at least four thousand dollars."
The Beggar Gang Disciple said, "According to them, there are two other teams involved in this human trafficking operation, both small groups of about seven or eight people."
Allen Zhang nodded after hearing this and asked, "Do you know where their suburban headquarters is?"
"We found out. It’s in the Bay Stream District on Highway 696 in the suburbs. They don’t know where the other two teams are, but they are all part of the same circle," replied the Beggar Gang Disciple.
Just then, Bailey arrived by car with Blitz. Allen Zhang greeted them and then said, "Bailey, take a team over there, and dismantle their headquarters. Leave the other two teams alone for now. We’ll head directly to the paths leading through the Qiliye Mountain Range and intercept them midway."
"What about these guys?" the Beggar Gang Disciple asked, pointing to the battered Mexicans.
"Take them to the suburbs and deal with them there," Allen Zhang ordered the execution of the Mexicans.
What’s the use of keeping human traffickers? They contribute nothing of value to society.
"Ok!"
The Beggar Gang Disciples loaded the Mexicans into another transport vehicle, started it up, and left the streets first to destroy the suburban headquarters.
"Thank you very much for saving me, sir," said Black, whose legs were still weak after the ordeal.
"Hurry up and leave this place! Don’t wander the streets after dark; this is our territory," Allen Zhang waved him off as he hastened away without looking back.
After dealing with the street situation, Allen Zhang instructed the Beggar Gang Disciples to get in the car and then drove out of the city towards the Qiliye Mountain Range.
It took about an hour to reach the Qiliye Mountain, the essential path into the mountains. They parked the car in a nearby grove and received a message from Bailey.
The message included a picture of a large fire burning in a wasteland, with an entire cabin consumed by flames and two people hanging from a bamboo pole nearby.
Bailey: Done!! We also rescued two victims from this camp, found a ledger, and 5000 dollars in cash.
Allen Zhang: Well done.
After praising their efficiency, he instructed them to leave the two victims in a safe area on the highway to wake up and leave on their own.
They could split the money among themselves and then meet up here on the mountain road.
Getting out of the car, Allen Zhang took a wire and spike strip from the vehicle and had the Beggar Gang Disciples set up a tire-spiking trap on the essential road. He handed the sniper rifle to Old Jack, putting him in charge of long-range sniping to eliminate enemies.
"This thing is really good, using subsonic bullets. This whole sniper targeting system must be worth at least ten thousand dollars, right? Leave it to me!" Old Jack happily fiddled with the VSS sniper rifle, likening it to receiving refined, well-crafted toys.
Typically a ruffian who preferred pulling bolt-actions and was skilled with AK series and shotguns, along with C4 and Clay Bombs, he was thrilled to indulge in something finer and joyfully took the Beggar Gang Disciples to find a high sniping point.
Allen Zhang also pulled out an M4, attached a suppressor and a 4X scope, and, with the rest of the people, continued to lie in ambush in the nearby woods and bushes.
As time trickled by, about half an hour later, two vans drove up, one after the other. As they navigated the corner on the mountain road, their tires ran over the pre-set trap. The steel spikes were triggered, puncturing the tires with a snap, deflating the front tires of the lead van, causing the vehicle to tilt.
"What’s going on? What happened?"
The bandits transporting the hostages panicked as they felt the vehicle bobbing and tilting.
The driver of the vehicle quickly steered and braked, swinging the vehicle off the road and crashing into a tree nearby.
The men burst out of the vehicle, the hood smoking, and upon seeing the spikes embedded in the tires, couldn’t help cursing, "Which vile person set up this roadblock here!?"
Seeing their comrades caught in the trap, the occupants of the following van immediately tried to detour but had triggered another hidden trap after moving a few meters, spoiling their tires as well.
The group was equally filled with cursing.
"It wasn’t you guys pulling a trick, was it?" those from the latter vehicle alighted with guns, couldn’t help but suspect the earlier group, "Trying to double-cross us here?"
"Fxxkyou! Don’t you see our tires are blown up too?"
The two parties hurled abuses at each other.
The team leader, however, remained calm and rational, quickly alerted his underlings, "Be careful, we might be ambushed! We’ve been here several times before and nothing unusual ever happened; it’s extremely abnormal that our tires burst all of a sudden. There has to be someone around!"
