America 1919-Chapter 933 - 318, Intricate Interests Connection_3
"If the information is accurate, then we have nothing to worry about!" Andrew Mellon mused.
The other two thought for a moment and also agreed with Andrew Mellon’s statement.
"I can assure the three of you that this information is absolutely genuine. I believe after Christmas, everyone should be able to receive this news!"
Donnie reassured them.
Ultimately, after discussing, they decided that once the actions in Europe began, they would immediately start their acquisition targeting the Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium.
After concluding this matter, on the surface, the three parted ways together, but by evening, Andrew Mellon and Old Rockefeller had returned to Block Manor.
They wanted to inquire about the situation in Europe.
Regarding Europe, their understanding was only partial; they didn’t know the entire plan. However, through the past few days of discussions and their personal analyses,
they could piece together a general picture.
Donnie and Morgan were seemingly preparing to ally with Europe’s Rothschild family to launch a sweeping harvest against the speculators currently frenziedly driving up national bonds in Europe!
"Gentlemen, I cannot disclose specific timings to you regarding this matter because it pertains to my cooperation with Morgan. If it were Jack sitting here today, I wouldn’t reveal any information to him either!"
After learning of their intentions, Donnie stated bluntly.
Clearly, the two families were very interested in this matter.
"Donnie, you should know that even if you don’t tell us about this, we can still participate in the matter. Perhaps by then, it might create some trouble for you all!"
Old Rockefeller said casually. freēnovelkiss.com
Donnie sighed. The strategy he had previously used against the Rothschild family was now being leveraged by Old Rockefeller against him!
However, Donnie wasn’t Rothschild. Smiling, he replied, "I completely believe that, but I also believe that even if the two of you join, there will certainly be some losses on your part unless you’re willing to abandon your plans to acquire Kuhn, Loeb."
In Donnie and the others’ plans, the actions in Europe and the United States were nearly simultaneous.
Donnie and Morgan, having prepared in advance, naturally set aside funds for Europe’s operations, but Rockefeller and Mellon were different. Without knowing the specific timing, they couldn’t have funds ready before the crucial moment arrived.
The actions in Europe were no small amount. Without knowing the exact timing, they could only prepare the funds in advance and refrain from making any moves, which, for any family, was an extremely extravagant requirement.
If they attempted to act preemptively, they would have to go up against Donnie, Morgan, Rothschild, and even the European speculators simultaneously.
A strength of that scale was beyond what those two families could bear.
Andrew Mellon deliberated for a while and suddenly smiled. "Donnie, in recent times, you’ve been allocating a large amount of funds to Florida and starting construction on your own arms factory. I suspect your cash flow must be a little tight. Why don’t the three of us partner privately? You can act as the representative of our two families, and we’ll entrust the funds to you, with a promised share of the profits for you once this plan succeeds. How about that?"
To claim a share of the matter, the best option for Mellon and Rockefeller at the moment was to establish a separate partnership with Donnie.
So, Old Rockefeller immediately nodded and said, "I support this plan!"
Looking at these two old foxes, Donnie showed a bitter smile. "Gentlemen, if I really did this, would you still cooperate with me individually in the future? Even if we cooperated, would you still trust me?"
Donnie’s words plunged the two into silence. Experienced as they were, they fully understood Donnie’s point.
If Donnie agreed with them on this matter, he would, in essence, be betraying his agreement with Morgan and the Rothschild family.
In their world, trust wasn’t the most sacred concept—everyone understood its limitations.
Yet sometimes, upholding the semblance of trust still mattered. After Donnie made his stance clear, neither blamed him; instead, they gained some respect for his decision.
Because in rejecting them, Donnie had forfeited potential profits of at least tens of millions of US dollars!
Such enormous benefits were not something easily turned down!
"If today I could sacrifice the interests of my partners Morgan and Rothschild for my own benefit, then tomorrow, I might just as well sacrifice yours."
"So, gentlemen, stop contemplating this issue. The United States is vast, and there are plenty of opportunities to make money—fixating on one matter is entirely unnecessary!"
Donnie advised them.
Andrew Mellon and Old Rockefeller left Block Manor. Although they verbally acknowledged Donnie’s reasoning, Donnie didn’t believe this meant they would genuinely abandon the pursuit.
From Donnie’s perspective, they would likely continue to watch the European bond market closely. Unable to join forces with Donnie, Morgan, and Rothschild as major players, they could always bet as outsiders. While the returns would be smaller, gains were still gains.
However, Donnie didn’t dwell too much on this matter. He felt greatly satisfied with his decision to reject Andrew Mellon and Old Rockefeller’s proposition.
With this principled stance, in future negotiations with these two families—even for ventures that might not seem immediately promising—they would seriously consider and probably agree due to this display of integrity.
If Donnie truly adhered to his own professed principles, he wouldn’t have involved Walker in this matter!
