America 1919-Chapter 932 - 318, Intricate Interests Connection_2
Old Rockefeller said anxiously.
The Warburg brothers mobilized Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium’s funds into Florida’s real estate market, and those present were aware of it.
In reality, they had some reservations about Donnie revealing this matter to the Warburg brothers.
After all, given the current development trend, land prices in Florida continue to rise. If they act at this moment and Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium sells off its land holdings in Florida and withdraws its funds, it would undeniably be a highly unfavorable situation for them.
"Gentlemen, you think Florida’s land is like goods from the Apollo Chain Convenience Stores – that they can sell it whenever they please. Those are plots of land worth tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars—estates! It’s practically impossible for them to liquidate all of it in such a short time."
Donnie reiterated his viewpoint.
"Besides, don’t forget, if not for the decision to have them transfer their cash to Florida, that money would still be liquid and readily accessible to them. Wouldn’t that have been even more troublesome!"
The three saw Donnie’s displeasure and promptly sought to reassure him.
"Donnie, don’t be angry. No one is suggesting that you’ve done anything wrong!" Andrew Mellon explained.
Jack Morgan chimed in: "That’s right."
Old Rockefeller also placated him: "Donnie, we’re just trying to get your perspective on when would be the optimal time to take action based on your understanding of Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium’s current situation."
Seeing their conciliatory tone, Donnie calmed down and said, "If you’re seeking my advice, then I repeat: we should wait until the Rothschild family moves first, and only then act. This is the best way to ensure that the Warburg family loses all external support."
This timeline had actually been decided when they first began discussing their plans, but since the Rothschild family has been waiting for the crop of "chaff" to mature, they hadn’t taken action yet.
Furthermore, during this period, Donnie’s relationships with the Warburg family and the Rothschild family had grown increasingly close, making the trio anxious about the matter.
It wasn’t that the three lacked sophistication—it was simply because acquiring Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium was such a massive undertaking. Even though they were among the most powerful figures in contemporary America, the scope of it deeply concerned them.
"What we’re most worried about is the possibility of the Warburg family withdrawing their investments in Florida during this time!"
Jack Morgan finally voiced their true concern to Donnie: "Donnie, you know as well as we do, the endeavors over in Europe, if successful, represent an immensely lucrative gain!"
Are the returns on Florida’s real estate investments substantial?
At least for now, the returns appear to be quite generous.
But those returns, compared to the gains from the European public debt markets, are essentially on a similar scale. Moreover, considering the relationship between the Warburg family and the Rothschild family, Jack Morgan was worried that if the Warburg family abandoned their investments in Florida and shifted them toward Europe to partner with the Rothschild family in exploiting those "chaff" crops, it would make their fund mobilization efforts all the more efficient!
Donnie replied with a smile: "I don’t think there’s any need to worry!"
After giving his conclusion, Donnie continued explaining to Jack Morgan: "Jack, when you chose not to invest in my military industrial complex earlier, besides believing that the returns from my plans were slower, another reason was that Morgan already had other arrangements for its capital, wasn’t it?
With arrangements already in place, it would’ve been difficult for you to reallocate those funds to the military industrial complex.
Similarly, the Warburg family is in the same situation. Although investments in Europe are indeed profitable, don’t forget that the Warburg family has already shifted the focus of their family operations to the United States.
And their abilities do not permit them to handle both the United States and Europe simultaneously.
Given such circumstances, they would naturally not withdraw their funds from Florida. Also, based on my understanding of the Warburg family, those brothers are likely considering how to turn Florida into the Warburg family’s own Florida."
"Right before I came to Washington, I received news in Atlantic City that Paul Warburg has already started opening a branch of New York National City Bank in Florida. I wonder if this development eases your worries a bit more?"
Andrew Mellon, Old Rockefeller, and Jack Morgan showed astonished expressions upon hearing this.
It wasn’t Paul Warburg’s actions that surprised them but the fact that this information was revealed by Donnie.
Dividing Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium was now the most critical task for the three families, so they paid close attention to the Warburg family’s activities. Yet, even with such focus, they hadn’t acquired this intel.
It was Donnie who informed them of this news.
Was Donnie’s intelligence network already so frighteningly powerful?
Or was it that Donnie had leveraged his relationship with Janine Warburg to uncover this information?
But they also realized that such matters were not questions they could directly pose to Donnie.
