Chapter 779: 267. Initiate the acquisition of Breton Bank_2
Dick first congratulated Donnie but then became somewhat embarrassed as he spoke, “However, dear Donnie, I think you’ve invited me to Atlantic City because you want to know who is acquiring stocks of Sinclair Oil Corporation, right?”
“Even though we are friends, there are still rules in business that must be adhered to, so I’m afraid I might disappoint you!”
Donnie waved his hand with a smile, “My friend, rest assured, I’m not here to inquire about who’s buying Sinclair Oil’s stocks, but rather to make a deal with you!”
Dick’s interest was immediately piqued. With the Trident Shipyard beginning construction in Cape May, it was clear to anyone with eyes that Donnie now had complete control of New Jersey. Given time for development, it wouldn’t take long
for the consortium under Donnie’s name to become the New Jersey Consortium.
This entity could stand shoulder to shoulder with America’s top ten consortia.
He too wanted more collaboration with Donnie, which would be very beneficial for Breton Bank.
“Haha, if that’s the case then that’s wonderful. I wonder what kind of deal you would like to make with Breton Bank, Donnie?”
“Not with Breton Bank!” Donnie said with a laugh, shaking his head. “I want to make a deal with you, Dick!”
Dick, having no idea what Donnie had in mind, smiled and asked,
“What deal? Just spell it out, Donnie. As long as both parties can profit, I have no problem!”
Donnie nodded and revealed his plan, “I want to acquire all of the Breton Bank shares that you hold!”
The previously smiling Dick now wore a look of shock and disbelief.
“Donnie, that joke isn’t the least bit funny!”
Donnie waved his hand, “I’m not joking with you. Considering our collaboration over the past two years, I’m willing to offer you a fair price!”
At this moment, Dick felt like he was in the midst of a raging storm, with myriad thoughts racing through his mind. He definitely couldn’t sell his shares of Breton Bank.
With Breton Bank developing so well, how could he possibly sell it?
“Donnie, I cannot accept this deal. Breton Bank is an asset of the Dick Family; it cannot be sold under my watch!”
Dick plainly refused Donnie’s acquisition offer.
Donnie’s expression did not change despite Dick’s refusal, only smiling and saying, “I know Breton Bank is doing very well right now, but its development is based on the cooperation with Atlantic City.

If you lose Atlantic City’s cooperation, have you thought about the consequences, Dick?”
Dick of course knew the consequences. Cancelling the cooperation with Atlantic City would not only directly cost Breton Bank a third of its business, but more importantly, all the development plans previously laid out by Breton Bank would need to be rethought.
Perhaps it would take Breton Bank the next ten years to recover from this loss.
“I’m aware, but my stance is very firm. Donnie, I can’t accept selling Breton Bank shares to you, even though I am aware of the consequences that would bring!”
Donnie shook his head, somewhat disappointed, “Dick, our cooperation these past two years has been very pleasant, and so I do not wish for you to suffer financial losses over this. If you sell Breton Bank to me, you can completely use the money for other business ventures, and I assure you, I will provide you with certain assistance in your other businesses!”
Clearly, Dick had no intention of accepting Donnie’s goodwill and, after thinking for a moment, refused even more firmly Donnie’s idea of acquiring Breton Bank.
“I’m very sorry, Donnie, but I can’t accept your suggestion!”
Donnie also shook his head in disappointment; obviously, their negotiations had not reached a satisfactory conclusion for him.
Initially, Dick had planned to enjoy two days in Atlantic City, but after his talk with Donnie, he checked out of his room at the Surf Hotel immediately and headed straight back to New York.
Upon his return to New York, without any rest, he immediately called two guests.
The current president of Sinclair Oil, Lazar Madison, and the vice president, Archibald Roosevelt, along with his wife, Madeline, sat in his study and began discussing the matter.
Lazar Madison and Archibald Roosevelt were the ones who had previously asked Breton Securities to buy into Sinclair Oil’s stocks.
And their acquaintance was, in fact, made through Donnie.
