America 1919-Chapter 1720 - 646: Where There Is Light, There Is Darkness (Part 2)
Donnie felt no sense of error regarding his decision.
In this world, every event has both a bright and a dark side!
Everyone knows those oil tycoons in the Middle East are so wealthy they’re swimming in oil.
But they never pay attention to the workers living in the shadows of these countries.
Take Dubai, which is widely known.
Everybody knows it’s the city of the wealthy.
And it’s precisely because of this, people from all over the world want to seek fortune in Dubai.
But the outcome?
Dubai has a complete underground industry chain, where many workers have their passports confiscated by their upstream, turning them into illegal workers.
The conditions they live in can be described as dog kennels.
Moreover, every year in Dubai, many people die due to such conditions.
Dubai tacitly approves of this.
Later, although some human rights organizations pushed for policies to protect laborers in these Middle Eastern countries,
in reality, the policies exist but are not truly implemented.
Some are born into privilege in Rome; this world is unfair!
After settling this matter, Donnie decided not to deal with other issues in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Murphy Mancini and George McKaw are responsible for things over here, and Donnie is rather reassured.
Of course, Donnie’s reassurance doesn’t merely come from their reports; he also has multiple channels informing him of the situation in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
After a few days of rest here, the negotiators from Germany and the Soviet Union arrived at Blue Mountain City.
They are, respectively, Joachim von Ribbentrop, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs,
and Vyacheslav Molotov, the Soviet People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs.
George McKaw personally represented Donnie at the port to welcome both men and their negotiation teams.
Joachim von Ribbentrop and Vyacheslav Molotov were then invited to Donnie’s palace in Blue Mountain City.
At this moment, Donnie was reading their profiles. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Joachim von Ribbentrop was born into a military family in Germany, joining the German army during World War I.
After the war, he married Annalise Henkel, the daughter of the German champagne magnate Henkel, entering high society.
In 1925, he was adopted by an aunt with a noble title and gained a noble name prefix.
In 1932, he joined the Party under the little mustache, becoming a National Congress Member within a year, a Party Guard colonel, and a diplomatic advisor to the little mustache.
In 1935, he represented Germany in signing the "Anglo-German Naval Agreement," allowing Germany’s naval tonnage to be 35% of the United Kingdom’s, creating conditions for Germany’s naval expansion.
Last year, he went to Paris to sign a so-called friendly agreement with France, the purpose of which was obviously to drive a wedge between Britain and France!
Vyacheslav Molotov, on the other hand, is a staunch revolutionary worker of the Soviet Union.
He has worked with two Soviet Union leaders and is also a die-hard supporter of the current Soviet leader, the man of steel.
During the purge initiated by the man of steel, Vyacheslav Molotov firmly stood by his side and is now the second-in-command in the man of steel’s regime!
After reading their profiles, the two men arrived at Donnie’s study.
Donnie stood up to welcome them both.
"Gentlemen, this time, our Venus Bank is merely acting as an intermediary. But this is ultimately your countries’ matter, so henceforth, our Turks and Caicos Islands will only provide the best negotiation conditions for both sides.
As for other things, it depends on your negotiations."
Joachim von Ribbentrop smiled and said, "Mr. Block, before I came, our leader specifically instructed me to express our gratitude to you in person, thanking you for your contributions to Germany, and to reaffirm that the great German nation will always regard you, Mr. Block, as our best friend!"
Donnie smiled and said, "Minister, you are too kind. Please convey for me to Mr. Mustache, what he has brought to Germany is something I greatly admire personally, and I look forward to meeting him again!"
Joachim von Ribbentrop laughed heartily, saying, "Of course, our leader often tells me that conversations with you, Mr. Block, always help clear up his doubts!"
The polite exchanges between Donnie and Joachim von Ribbentrop made Vyacheslav Molotov raise an eyebrow slightly.
Although this negotiation appears to be a matter between them and Germany.
The negotiation venue is, after all, in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and this is Donnie’s turf.
If Donnie leans towards Germany, it will indeed make them a bit tense.
Moreover, the Soviet Union doesn’t want their relationship with Venus Bank to become strained!
The Soviet Union is indeed vast and resource-rich, and their heavy industry is developing rapidly, but they still have many issues with their modern commercial systems.
Their economy can’t solely rely on internal consumption for growth.
At least according to their plans, the future Soviet production volume won’t be entirely consumed internally.
So they will need external partners.
In this regard, they prefer to cooperate with Venus Bank.
Though Venus Bank’s headquarters is in the United States.
Over the past few years of observation and investigation, the Soviet Union has confirmed one thing: if Venus Bank and the United States are regarded as two powerful entities, that’s not a problem.
They want to regain control of the Baku Oil Field, yet they also desire more cooperation with Venus Bank in other areas.
"Mr. Block, before I came, our leader instructed me, hoping to invite you to visit us in Moscow, where our Soviet Union will greet you with the highest respects!"
Donnie nodded and smiled, "I’ve always wanted to visit Moscow and would love to meet Leader Zhukhashvili!"
Vyacheslav Molotov laughed heartily and said, "Our leader will surely be very happy to hear your decision, and when I return, I will certainly tell him your decision!"
Donnie nodded; for him, a visit to Moscow is indeed necessary.
In the long future, the Soviet Union will remain one of the world’s strongest nations.
Moreover, the situation between the Soviet Union and the United States and Europe is quite different; under the Soviet Union’s current policies,
their power is more centralized, and under such circumstances, achieving something in the Soviet Union without visiting is unrealistic.
Most importantly, the Soviet Union holds immense energy resources.
Donnie is well aware that given the relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States, he cannot establish a monopolistic presence in the Soviet Union.
But Donnie can choose to support some spokespersons.
That night, Donnie hosted a small dance party at his palace for Joachim von Ribbentrop, Vyacheslav Molotov, and their negotiation teams.
Neither Donnie nor either side wishes for the matter to be known before reaching a conclusion.
Thus, it was only a small dance party!
Both parties came to this negotiation hoping to achieve an agreeable result.
Therefore, their meeting was unexpectedly harmonious instead of confrontational.
In such an atmosphere, Vyacheslav Molotov sought out Donnie alone.
"Mr. Block, before I came here, our leader especially mentioned one matter concerning the Baku Oil Field, and I hope to find a time to discuss it with you in detail."
This was another reason for Vyacheslav Molotov to come to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
They not only hope to sign a "Non-aggression Pact" with Germany, but also wish to resolve the ownership issue of the Baku Oil Field through Donnie.
Donnie wasn’t surprised at this and said, smiling, "Of course, but I believe we should first wait for your negotiations with Germany to conclude before discussing our matters.
What do you think?"
"Certainly!" Vyacheslav Molotov laughed heartily.
