Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 64: Lunara’s Desperate Call
A notification came in as soon as she alighted from the car. She took her device out and was happy she had finally got the message too.
However, she was surprised when she found out the text message came from the visitors’ management system and her approval was needed urgently. She wasn’t expecting any visitors so she declined immediately. She was sure her mate got the notification too. If he had wanted to see the visitors, they wouldn’t have sent it to her.
A call came in shortly after she declined. It was an unsaved contact. She shrugged and received the call. Hoping it was from the visitor’s administrator.
"Emma, where are you?" A familiar voice asked. She recognized her voice at once and smirked. The spasm in her voice made her sound strained and strangled.
"Do you know the number you just dialed belonged to the same she-wolf who stopped being your sibling nine years ago when she visited one of your aunts and lost her virginity to a random he-wolf she met in the territory?"
"Emma, where are you?"
"Go...to...hell!" She screamed and hung up. The call came in again and she restricted it and walked towards the lobby. Part of her wanted to hear what she wanted to tell her, but she had known them since she was a pup. They are very selfish. They only care about their happiness. She resisted the urge and headed towards the study chamber.
She tried to write, but there was no inspiration. Everything she went through when she was with her pack-kins came back and began to mess her mind up. Tears covered her eyes immediately.
She pulled her device closer when it began to ring again. The caller was the only person she wanted to see and talk to. He really knows when to call her. She wiped her tears and received the incoming call.
"My Moonblessed," his soothing voice sank deep into her ear and she sniffed.
"What is it?" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"I want to hold you right now," she whimpered like a pup.
"Come to the administrative chamber," he said calmly.
"Okay," she sniffed again and left the study chamber.
She drove down to the skyscraper. The elevator opened before she could pull the stylus pen. She turned and walked into the elevator. She didn’t even press the right floor. However, it stopped on the twentieth floor.
Her tears increased as she walked towards the administrative office. She doesn’t know why she always feels like a pup each time she sees Brandon or thinks of him. Knowing that she has him always forces tearsof joy out of her eyes.
He opened his arms for her with a smile as soon as she walked into the office. She threw herself at him and hid her face in his chest. He held her snugly and rested his head on her firmly. His guards were also in the chamber, but she didn’t even mind. There was silence in the chamber as he continued wiping her tears.
"Moonblessed, you don’t belong to their pack. It’s just you and me in our sweet pack. Soon we are going to welcome heirs into our pack that will love us genuinely. Some will look like you and some will look like me," he said after wiping her tears and began to kiss her lips. The velvet warmth of his kiss began to restore peace to her wolf. She rested her head back on his chest and held him tight when he took his mouth away to receive a call that had been bothering him.
"Hi, moonpup, what’s up?"
"I’m good and you?" a familiar female voice said.
"I’m fine. What is going on there?"
"What did you tell your other sibling? She has been acting weird since morning."
"Nothing, moonpup. How is mother?"
"She and father have been in a closed-door meeting and they kept mentioning your name."
"Where is your other she-wolf sibling?"
"She left the den hurriedly as if someone was after her. I’m the only sane person here. How is your mate?"
"She is fine."
"Where is she?"
"Where she has always been -in my heart."
"I can’t wait to see her on the Sun cycle."
"I’m sure she can’t wait to see you too."
"See you then," she said and hung up.
"Your sibling?" Emma asked.
"Yes"
"I can’t wait to see her."
She stood up from his wolf when her phone began to ring too.
"What is happening?" She frowned a bit as she received her mother’s call. Brandon fixed his eyes on the monitoring device.
"Emma, Lunara wants to talk to you."
"Mother, if you give her the device, I’ll hang up. I believe she must have told you what she wants from me."
"Yes"
"What does she want?"
"She wants you to come back to our pack."
"Really?"
"Yes! Emma, she is sorry for throwing you out," mother said and waited for her response.
"Mother, please tell her to move on. I have moved on already. I don’t want to be part of your pack again. I have a pack now."
"I’ll be discharged tomorrow. Can you come and take me to our pack?"
"I’ll send our driver."
"Emma!"
"Fine, I’ll come and take you back to our pack."
"Good, see you tomorrow then," she said and hung up. She turned and fixed her surprised gaze on her mate.
"Emma, we are going to the park tomorrow; have you forgotten?"
"No, but we can take her pack and drive down to the park from there."
"Tomorrow is for just you and me. No guards, no maids," he said, holding her cheeks. She nodded, looking into his eyes.
"I guess I should inform her."
"No, don’t talk to any member of your pack again. They don’t want you to be happy," he said and fixed his eyes back on the monitor. She relaxed on his wolf and watched as he directed a team of researchers.
He took her back when he closed for the day and didn’t let her out of his sight until dawn.
They arrived at the general park at exactly 10:00 am on Saturday. Brandon looked around his wife’s favorite spot and felt nostalgic. He could also feel the soft wind with the end-of-the-winter feel that filled the general park the first day he met her. He couldn’t believe it had been ten years and a month already.
He slid his arms around her waist and rested his jaw firmly on her shoulder. Tears of joy began to drip from her eyes.
He lifted his jaw off her shoulder when he saw Brooklyn running towards them like she did the first day they sat together. Emma turned and faced him.
"Brooklyn wrote three letters to me last moon-cycle, but someone hid the letters. One of my sibling’s devoted servants found them and sent them to me. I called her and invited her," Brandon said. Emma quickly lowered her gaze.
"She cried when I left with Mr. Richard. I never knew she went as far as trying to reach you. Who told her where to address the letter?"
"She visited me when I came back from Springfield territory."
"What?"
"Yes"
"Oh my moon goddess! She knows where you live?"
"Yes"
They lifted their faces and saw Brooklyn walking coldly. She was not happy again. Her disappointment was also apparent. She fixed her gaze on Brandon as she hugged her friend coldly. She was expecting to see Oliver and not Brandon.
"What is it, Brooklyn?" Emma whispered into her ear. She kept looking around as though she was expecting someone.
"Hi, Brooklyn," he smiled and waved. Brooklyn waved at Brandon without smiling back. He spread the beach mat he was holding and they sat down. Brooklyn’s face began to change when Brandon took out banana bread with peanuts - the same kind bread they ate ten years ago and the same kind of wine and fancy cups.
"Thank you, Brooklyn, for the letters you sent to me. I’m sorry I didn’t see them on time because I’m not living with my pack-kins anymore."
"I didn’t send any letters to you."
He removed his sunglasses and smiled. He knew she would recognize him since she knew his father.
"Oh yes, you did."
"Oh my moon goddess!!" Brooklyn screamed happily and began to shed tears. Her moonally, Emma, pulled her closer and wiped her tears.
"You didn’t tell me he was back."
"I just found out."
There was a long silence and Brooklyn couldn’t control her emotion. He saw genuine love for her moonally in her eyes.
"Are you guys married?"
"Yes," Emma responded.
"If I had known, it wouldn’t have taken you three good years to get her back. I would have talked to her." Brooklyn said.
"Your friend is strong-willed. She wouldn’t have believed you anyway. If I had talked to you, she would have believed you told me everything I knew about her." Brandon said.
"You’re right," Brooklyn grinned with tears in her eyes.
"Moonblessed, would you help me with the bread knife?"
"Sure"
Brooklyn fixed her teary gaze on her moonally for a while and returned her gaze.
"Now, I’m happy she is safe now."
"I’m safe with her too."
"Is she aware?" Brooklyn asked after some minutes.
"No"
"Why?"
"She won’t believe me."
"She needs to know you have a wedding next month. It’s all over the internet and newspapers already and....and... how are you going to handle both of them?"
"Don’t worry, Brooklyn; everything will be fine," Brandon said. Brooklyn nodded and fixed her eyes on her moonally again. She already knew that Lunara’s obsession will put both of them in danger.
