Alpha's Secret Bride-Chapter 101: Carrying His Heir Into Exile
She came back the next moonrise hopefully Ken will repeat what he said yesterday but he didn’t even say a word. Emily keeps trying as she continued playing with different kinds of toys with Ken. Sometimes, Ashley would condescend low and even crawl with them. Ken loved riding on his back while Emily watched or join them and they kept doing it for him. He began to adjust gradually. From smiling to laughing out loud and running to Emily each time he saw her.
On the eight day, she went to work as usual and proceeded to their chamber. He stopped what he was doing and ran to her as soon as she walked in. She hugged him and fondled his hair. His father kept smiling and peeking at her and she frowned a bit. She noticed he had been staring at her a lot and it made her uncomfortable.
"He spoke last moon-fall!" He broke the good news to Emily.
"Oh my moon goddess! What did you say?"
"Exactly what you heard," he grinned. "He wants you to accompany us to the beach today."
"Are you sure he really said that?" She asked, looking at Ken to answer the question. Ken looked at his father instead and smiled.
"Big Ken, isn’t that what you told me last moonfall?" Ashley asked.
"That’s what I said," Ken responded and smiled. She couldn’t believe her ear. She quickly lifted him.
"That reminds me, he said something to me two moons ago through the window but I wasn’t sure he’s the one."
"He’s the one, I couldn’t believe it until he spoke again last moonfall,"
"Ken what did you...?"
"I said moonfall Em.. ily."
"I’m gonna throw you away you know," she said jokingly. He screamed happily and she brought him down.
"The big question now is; will you go with us?"
"I...won’t be available in the moon-fall," she said.
"Are you going anywhere?"
"I..."
"Please Em...ily" Ken pleaded with a smile, moving his hands in a circular motion twice. She found his gesture very funny and difficult to resist.
"Okay," she returned his smile and shrugged. He ran to her and hugged her. He rested his head on her lower abdomen and put his tiny arms around her waist. His father burst into laughter.
"I’m going to meet you guys there in the early moonfall."
"No, we are going together." Ken let go of her and folded his hands across his chest as though he was commanding her.
"What?" She grinned.
"Emily, can we go together?" Ashley asked politely.
"It’s against the Double Moon’s policy."
"I’ll talk to the Beta."
"Yes, he will talk to the Beta," Ken said, and she found his words amusing.
"Alright," she agreed and began her work. Ken kept following her around in the name of assisting her, but he did not know he was creating more work for her. He bombarded her with questions and she answered the ones she knew and laughed at the ones she didn’t know. The chamber was quite messy and she guessed he and his father engaged in another round of play when she left yesterday.
She never knew they came with armed security until it was time to go to the beach. The beach was just a few feet away from the resting den and they walked towards it. Wolves kept staring at them as though they were one happy pack-kin.
One of his security warriors spread the beach mat for them. Ashley sat down and urged Emily to do the same. She quickly looked away and focused on Ken who was building different designs of sandcastles already. She joined Ken and they began to build pack houses. Ashley kept telling them who had the most beautiful sandcastle.
"Let’s do a treasure hunt," she whispered into Ken’s ear.
"What’s a treasure hunt," he whispered.
"I’m going to hide things in the sand and drop a hint for you. Once you decipher the hint, you will find all of them."
"Wow!" He grinned.
"Shall we?"
"Let’s start already," he grinned. They walked around and picked some cool-looking stones. She blindfolded him and hid the stones. Ashley kept staring at them.
She never knew they had special mindlink for signs. Ken found the stones without looking at the hints. They tried the game again and again and it didn’t take him time to find them. The fifth time, Emily looked into his father’s eyes and understood he was talking to him without opening his mouth.
"Oh...it’s you!" She screamed. Both of them began to laugh. She even forgot he was a high-profile fang regent.
They joined him on the mat when two workers brought food and drinks. Ken ate more than his stomach could contain and began to feel dizzy. It was almost six-twenty already.
"I want to sleep," he announced and lay on his father’s back.
"Emily, please, take him back to our chamber. I’ll join him later."
"Can he stay alone?"
"Oh yes, he can. He is a heavy sleeper."
"Alright, Ken, let’s go." She held his hand and two security warriors led them back to the resting den and disappeared as soon as they entered the chamber.
She quickly bathed him and tucked him in. He demanded a bedtime story. She joined him on the bed and began to tell him stories. She slowly relaxed his head that he placed on her shoulder on the bed when she noticed he had slept off and tiptoed out of his suite, holding her footwear in her hand. She slowly whined the door handle and jilted.
"Are you leaving already?" Ken asked. She rolled her eyes and grinned.
"No, I....just want to check if your father is coming," she lied and closed her eyes. He smirked and began to walk back to his junior suite. Emily slowly shut the door and followed him. She couldn’t leave him all alone in the chamber. She was afraid he might go dumb again. She climbed the bed again and pulled him in for a cuddle. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. After a few minutes, they dozed off.
She woke up when a hand patted her feet gently. She slowly put Ken’s head on the pillow and got down hurriedly. She checked the time, it was a few minutes past eight already. She began to look for her footwear. Ashley squatted and brought them out. She quickly put her legs in her shoes and began to walk towards the door.
"Emily, wait!"
"I’m sorry, I’m late."
"Don’t worry," she said, and continued walking.
"I’ll tell my driver to take you home."
"Thank you."
"I got these for you," he said and pointed at two grocery bags that were on the table.
"Thank you."
"You are welcome."
She turned to leave, but his words stopped her again.
"Emily, I really appreciate everything you did for my Ken. I’m going to reward you immensely. Thank you very much. Here is a cheque," he said, but she hesitated. He moved closer and put it into her handbag and zipped the bag.
"There is an emergency and I am expected to come home immediately. We will be leaving tomorrow. I wished I was informed earlier, I would have loved to go with you. Nevertheless, we will come back in one or two full moons and you must go with us."
She lowered her head and felt as if her pack-kin were leaving. She had grown fond of them and she didn’t know the extent everything had gone until that moonfall. Honestly, if he had informed her earlier and asked her to go with them, she wouldn’t have given it a second thought.
The news he just broke weakened her. She stared in the direction of Ken’s suite and tears covered her eyes. He pulled her closer to his chest and began to wipe her tears. She held him tight, wishing the emergency had never occurred. Before they knew it, they were on his bed making love. She couldn’t remember who initiated it, but it was the best moment of her life. He held her hand when she was about to go and promised her that they would come back next moon and she must go with them.
She came back to work the next day and they were gone. She cleaned the chamber with tears in her eyes. She found a folded piece of paper in the trash can and opened it. It was a short note from Ashley. She guessed he wanted to drop it on the table for her, but wasn’t sure if she would be the one that would clean the chamber. There was nothing much in the letter. It was just "I love you, Emily," but it meant a lot to her.
That week was the worst week she had ever experienced. She was hoping the following week would be fine, but the boring life continued. The third week came with moonrise sickness and nausea. Her stepmother quickly noticed she was with a pup. She reported her to her father and she was rejected and thrown out.
She rented an apartment with the crowns of silver Ashley gave her and resigned from her job. The Beta tried everything possible to retain her but she was ashamed to face her coworkers especially the jealous ones.
She kept calling her favorite coworkers, asking if they had come, but they never returned. She was heartbroken.
She applied for Visa. Her thirty-day Visa, which was valid for ninety days, came out and she left the territory with the last silver she had with her.
"The pup within her had grown for five moons and she was just Nineteen winters plus then. She travels to Santorini in search of her pup’s father. Unaware of the obstacles that awaits her.
