Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 195: Daddy...!
Chapter 195: Daddy...!
Ace steps inside, expecting the usual evening bustle, detectives wrapping up their shifts, chatter in the air, papers shuffling, the hum of activity still lingering.
Instead, he’s met with silence.
He slows his steps. His brows furrow.
The entire place is dim, the usual bright overhead lights turned off, leaving only the faint glow from outside.
Kieran said he would be around, why is the place looking like this?! Everyone can’t have gone home.
Something’s off.
"Alright..." Ace’s voice echoes slightly, his eyes scanning the space. "What the hell is going on?"
"Why the are the lights off?" he mutters, his voice cutting through the silence.
"Sam?"
Before he can take another step, determined to go to Kieran’s office, the lights suddenly flicker back on.
And there, right in the center of the space, is Kieran.
On one knee.
Ace freezes.
His breath catches in his throat, and for a moment, it’s as if the world itself has stopped.
The noise of the city beyond the building fades, the people around them blur into the background. His heart pounds erratically in his chest, too fast, too loud.
Kieran is... there.
On his knee.
Looking at him as if he is desperate to say Something, but nothing comes out of his mouth.
The weight of the moment crashes down on Ace all at once, and he doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t even know if he can move.
Kieran stares at him, his face unreadable at first, but then he exhales, a shaky chuckle escaping him. He swallows hard before speaking.
"I don’t know what has happened," he admits, his voice quieter than usual, rough with emotion. "I feel mad at myself because I can’t believe I had planned to say so many things in this moment, but it seems like all the words have disappeared."
Ace remains frozen, his hands clenched at his sides, feeling his heartbeat in his ears.
"And I feel like just going ahead and asking you for permission to let us completely belong to each other won’t be fair," Kieran continues, chuckling, almost nervously. "Seriously, I have been regarding the words to say in this moment for almost a year now. Not like I had to rehearse to know what to tell you, but because there is a lot to say that it might take me forever, so I had to pick a few to say..."
He exhales , shaking his head at himself. "Oh jeez! I’m rambling, aren’t I?"
Ace blinks, his vision slightly blurred. He only realizes he’s crying when he feels the dampness on his cheeks.
Kieran looks up at him, his gaze steady now. The hesitation, the nervousness, it all fades as he focuses on what truly matters.
"Ace, I know I have told you this so many times, but if I have to repeat it a thousand times, then that’s fine," Kieran says, his voice steady now. "I cannot imagine myself without you, words can never actually bring out what I feel inside. But I’ll still use them anyway... I cannot imagine myself without you, Ace. That’s why I’m asking you right now, to let us spend the rest of our lives together, officially."
Ace takes a slow step forward. Then another. His legs feel heavy, his chest tight.
When he’s close enough, he crouches down in front of Kieran, his eyes never leaving his.
"You don’t have to say anything for me to know how you feel," Ace finally speaks, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don’t have the words either..."
Kieran watches him, not moving, not speaking, just waiting.
Ace swallows, trying to steady himself. Then, taking a shaky breath, he finally whispers, " Well... Yes."
The second the word leaves his lips, the air itself seems to shift. Kieran chuckle, his hand instinctively reaching out to Ace’s cheek, "Yes What?" He jokes.
"Yes, Kieran, let’s spend the rest of our lives together. I’ll marry you."
For a heartbeat, nothing happens.
Then, all at once, the space erupts with cheers, applause, excited shouts from those around them. Music begins to play, the sound of celebration filling the air.
But none of it registers for Ace.
Kieran takes his hand, and with an almost reverent touch, slides the ring onto his finger.
The moment Kieran slides the ring onto Ace’s finger, a breathless hush settles between them.
Then, without hesitation, Kieran reaches for him, one hand cradling the back of Ace’s head, the other wrapping securely around his waist, pulling him close like he’s something fragile yet essential, something he never wants to let go of.
Their lips meet, and the world around them fades.
It’s slow at first, deep and consuming, a kiss filled with years of unspoken emotions, of battles fought, of love that refused to wane.
Kieran tilts his head, pressing in, savoring the warmth, the softness, the way Ace melts against him, fingers gripping his jacket.
The background is still noisy, but they don’t hear a thing.
The moment is warm, filled with laughter, love, and a sense of unity that makes everything feel just right.
Kieran still holds Ace close, their foreheads nearly touching.
But before they can sink further into their moment, Jun steps in, quite literally wedging himself between them.
"Alright, fiancés, we know you better than you know yourselves. If we don’t stop you now, this is going to last until tomorrow." He grins, crossing his arms, utterly amused.
Kieran groans, realizing how lost in the kiss they had been. His hand is still at the small of Ace’s back, fingers lingering like they don’t want to pull away just yet.
"Oh? You think we’re that shameless? Let’s not forget who exactly is shameless between us." Ace raises a brow, though his lips are still curved into a soft smile. He already knows the answer before Jun can even respond.
Jun scoffs dramatically. "Oh gosh! Will you ever stop mentioning that?! It was just one time! And we were just kissing."
"Kissing?" Ace repeats, giving him an incredulous look. "You literally started undressing each other in the car!"
A few people snicker, and Jun visibly winces. "Yeah, whatever," he mutters before Rey, his greatest betrayer in moments like these, decides to chime in.
"We’re not any different from the two of you," Rey says nonchalantly, smirking as he folds his arms.
The moment is light, full of familiar teasing, until the sound of tiny, quick footsteps comes from behind. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
The detective who had taken Billy outside now walks back in, but before she can say anything, Billy, a small bundle of excitement, spots Kieran and Ace.
His eyes light up instantly, as if nothing else in the world exists.
He tugs his tiny hand free from the detective’s grasp and takes off running toward them, arms outstretched.
"Daddy!" His little voice is full of joy, echoing through the space as he practically launches himself forward.
Kieran and Ace catch him at the same time, their arms securely wrapping around the little boy as he buries his face between them. The sight is enough to make half the room melt.
Billy’s dark curls are slightly tousled from playing, and his round, rosy cheeks are plump with happiness.
His bright eyes, so full of life are fixed on them like they are his entire world.
His little arms hold onto them tightly, his small hands clutching onto Kieran’s shirt and Ace’s jacket at the same time.
"Hey, Billy," Jun says, crouching down slightly, pretending to pout. "So today you’re not seeing me because I don’t have yogurt and sweet things you love eating, huh? Alright, I see how it is..."
The fake sadness in his voice makes Billy blink in confusion.
He turns his wide, round eyes to Jun, his little lips forming a tiny pout as if he’s seriously considering what he just heard.
Then, after a second, his tiny legs shuffle over to Jun, his arms reaching up toward him.
"Un...cle Jun... love... you..." Billy mumbles sweetly, his words not clear.
He wraps his small arms around Jun’s leg in an attempt to comfort him.
Jun dramatically gasps before scooping him up with ease, holding him high. "You really do love me, huh? At least someone here does!" he jokes, grinning at Ace and Kieran.
The room erupts into laughter and admiring smiles.
Even those who don’t typically fawn over children can’t help but be taken by Billy’s charm.
He’s just that kind of kid, the one who makes the world a little brighter simply by being in it.
The unexpected party becomes even more lively. Anyone would think this has been planned for weeks.
Someone turns the music up, the mood shifting from sentimental to outright celebratory.
Drinks are poured, laughter rings through the space, and the excitement of the engagement buzzes in the air.
It isn’t long before Sam, ever the instigator, smirks and calls out, "So... when are we coming for the wedding?"
The question is lighthearted, clearly meant to tease, but Kieran doesn’t hesitate for even a second.
He tightens his arm around Ace’s waist and, without missing a beat, says, "Suddenly, I can’t wait anymore... So in three days."
The entire room stills for a moment, as if everyone collectively misheard him. Then, the reactions explode all at once.
"Three days?!" Ace blurts out, turning to Kieran with wide eyes.
"Three days?!" Jun echoes, looking just as surprised.
Even Rey lifts a brow.
"Yes," Kieran answers firmly, looking at Ace, his expression unwavering. "Why wait? In fact, that’s way too long."
Ace’s heart stumbles in his chest. Kieran looks absolutely certain, no hesitation in his voice, no uncertainty in his eyes. He really can’t wait.
