Chapter 155: .Chaos in the city.

The town is already stirring.

The early morning rush has begun, workers heading to their jobs, shop owners setting up displays, students drowsily making their way to school.

Oblivion of what is happening in the city.

Blake moves like a shadow through the dimly lit streets, her breath ragged, her muscles tensed.

The air carries a thousand scents, but none of them register. All she knows is hunger. Rage. Chaos. Primal hunting desires.

She sprints across an empty intersection, her claws clicking against the pavement.

A delivery truck rounds the corner, headlights cutting through the fading darkness.

The driver barely has time to register the figure before her body slams into the front of the vehicle.

The impact is deafening.

The windshield shatters.

The truck swerves violently, tires screeching as it crashes into a parked car. Alarms wail through the street.

A second later, the driver’s door swings open, and a man stumbles out, clutching his head. His face is bloody, dazed. He looks toward the wreckage, then...

Blake rises.

She shakes off the broken glass, her golden eyes burning beneath the city lights. The driver freezes. His mouth opens, but no sound comes out.

She moves and lunges toward him.

He doesn’t even get the chance to run. Her claws slash across his chest, sending him sprawling onto the concrete. Blood splatters in thick, dark arcs.

Screams ring out.

Pedestrians stop. Some stare in horror. Others bolt, shoving past one another in blind panic. A woman drops her coffee, the cup rolling away as she shrieks and turns to flee.

A man pulls out his phone, trembling as he fumbles with the screen, trying to call for help.

But Blake is already moving again.

She leaps onto a nearby car, her claws leaving deep gashes in the hood. The driver inside scrambles to lock the doors, but it doesn’t matter. She isn’t after him.

Her gaze snaps to a cyclist skidding to a stop in the middle of the street. A second later, she pounces. The man throws his bike aside, turning to run, but she’s faster. Her claws rake down his back. He collapses, sobbing, blood pooling beneath him.

More screams.

A car slams on its brakes, nearly hitting a group of people running across the road. Another vehicle swerves, smashing into a lamppost. Glass and metal scatter across the pavement.

The city spirals into chaos.

Blake inhales, the scent of fear thick in the air. It fuels something deep inside her. Something primal.

But then... Sirens.

A sharp, wailing sound cuts through the madness.

Police cars flood the streets, red and blue lights flashing against the surrounding buildings. Officers pour out, weapons drawn.

"Put your hands up!" one of them shouts. But seeing Blake’s face and how she looks generally, he flinches, fear gripping him.

But still it’s his job to protect the citizens, so he forces himself to face that.

Blake doesn’t understand.

Another officer speaks into his radio. "We’ve got a situation..."

She moves.

A single leap, and she’s on top of a police car. The windshield cracks beneath her weight. The officer inside scrambles out, his gun shaking as he aims.

A gun shot is heard and next second, Blake disappears in the thin air. Disappears out of their sight.

She vanishes into the alleyways, weaving through the narrow paths between buildings.

The officers give chase, their footsteps pounding against the pavement. Flashlights sweep the darkness. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

But Blake is faster.

She climbs. Her claws dig into brick and metal as she scales the side of a building, reaching the rooftop in seconds. Below, the police search blindly, their voices frantic.

The rooftops blur beneath her as she leaps from one to another, her body moving with unnatural ease.

And as the sun rises over the city, Blake disappears into the morning light, leaving behind only blood, wreckage, and the lingering scent of fear.

The city wakes to chaos.

Early risers heading to work stop in the middle of sidewalks, staring at the enormous screens hanging from skyscrapers, where breaking news flashes in bold, urgent letters.

Cafés, usually filled with morning chatter, fall silent as customers clutch their phones, eyes glued to live broadcasts.

"We interrupt this program for an emergency update. Authorities have confirmed multiple attacks overnight, carried out by an unidentified creature. Witnesses describe it as neither fully human nor animal. Officials urge all residents to stay indoors until further notice."

Inside a convenience store, a man buying coffee freezes mid-sip. The cashier’s hands tremble as she clutches the counter.

"The creature was last seen moving toward the city center. Surveillance footage has been retrieved..."

The screen switches to a grainy video. A figure, impossibly fast, darting between cars.

One unlucky driver slams the brakes too late, the dark shape collides with his windshield, sending glass flying. The footage cuts out.

In another clip, a woman runs screaming, her face twisted in terror. Behind her, a shadow moves, then a flash of golden eyes.

People murmur in disbelief.

"What is that thing?"

"Did you see its eyes?"

"Is this some kind of joke?"

The news anchors don’t look like they have answers. Their voices are tight, strained.

"At this time, local law enforcement is working closely with emergency services to contain the situation. There have been unconfirmed reports of casualties..."

The broadcast is interrupted by a new video, this one clearer, filmed by a shaky phone.

A police car swerves, trying to block the street. Officers step out, weapons drawn. "Stop right there!"

The creature doesn’t stop.

A blur of movement- then a scream.

A body hits the pavement.

The officer doesn’t get back up.

The screen freezes on a single, horrifying frame: claws glinting in the streetlights, blood splattering across the asphalt.

Someone in the convenience store drops their drink. It shatters against the floor.

The tension spreads like wildfire.

Throughout the city, businesses close their shutters, pulling down metal barriers. Schools send emergency alerts, telling parents not to bring their children in.

The subways halt, leaving stations packed with confused commuters.

On the roads, drivers stuck in traffic check their phones and suddenly decide to turn back.

Panic settles over the city like a thick fog.

In the mayor’s office, an emergency meeting is underway.

"This can’t be real," a city official mutters, running a hand through his graying hair. "Are we seriously saying there’s a monster loose in the city? Like there’s a supernatural being that exist in real life?!"

A police captain slams a file onto the desk. "Tell that to the families of the people who just died."

Silence.

The mayor exhales sharply. "Where is it now?"

"We lost track of it."

The room tenses.

"What do you mean, lost track?"

The officer tightens his jaw. "It was last seen near the intersection of Fifth and Grand. It attacked a civilian, then disappeared. They searched the area, no sign."

A younger official, pale-faced, speaks up. "So it’s just... out there?"

No one answers.

The mayor presses his fingers against his temple. "Alright. Shut down public transportation. Tell everyone to stay inside. We don’t let this thing spread any further."

A grim nod passes around the room.

The city is now officially under lockdown.

As afternoon approaches, the panic only deepens.

News helicopters hover over the city, broadcasting eerie footage of empty highways.

Normally packed streets are deserted, aside from the occasional police car speeding past.

Online, speculation spreads like wildfire.

Some say it’s a wild animal, escaped from a secret lab.

Others whisper of government experiments gone wrong.

A few, the ones who saw the golden eyes and the way it moved, begin to say something even more chilling...

That whatever it is, it isn’t human.

The city stays tense as every form of a police searches out there. Dreading, panicking, fearing for their own lives.
