Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 283-Some Fool She Is
Lara:
The next day, after I woke up, Kash’s mother came straight to my room and told me to go to the hospital with him. Even though I felt perfectly fine, she told me not to argue and to use the opportunity to spend time with him.
So I agreed. Strangely, Kash did not refuse. I knew he would never neglect his responsibilities, but it was easier to get his attention this time, all because of Iris’s rude and selfish behavior.
How long could anyone tolerate a woman like her?
We went for the checkup, and everything was normal. The doctors said I was doing well, but I barely listened. I already knew that.
Instead, I admired Kash’s handsome face. Every time we passed a group of she-wolves, they looked at him with dreamy eyes, knowing they could never have him. It made me feel fulfilled.
I wanted to get rid of Iris so I could have him all to myself.
When we returned home, there she was. Iris stepped out from the backyard with Markus right behind her.
I held back a smile when Markus rushed past her into the mansion, looking like a culprit, as if they had been caught doing something.
The fact that Iris had fallen for our plan amused me. Lately, she had been acting intelligent, but she was still the same naive and pathetic girl who wanted to stay in everyone’s good books.
Kash seemed upset when he saw her with Markus. But he walked past her without a word and headed inside.
I exchanged a few words before going in. I heard her footsteps behind me.
When we entered the mansion, chaos greeted us. The children were full of energy.
I considered building a cage filled with animal toys just to keep them contained. Once Iris was gone, I would discipline them. That was my first plan.
For now, I had to tolerate them and avoid them as if they did not exist.
"I am so glad you are back. I have prepared a huge feast for lunch to celebrate our return and to show everyone that no one can steal our safe place from us," Lady Vivian announced.
She was sitting in the living room when Kash approached and sat beside her. I quickly took the seat on her left, making sure Iris was left to sit alone on another couch.
And she did.
"If you are happy, that is all I want," Kash told his mother, referring to the feast.
"Well then, go ahead and freshen up. Then come to the dining room, okay?" Lady Vivian instructed.
I had a feeling she wanted me to stay behind to speak with her.
I watched Iris and Kash exchange judgmental looks before they both stood and walked toward their bedroom. They tried to appear calm, but the tension between them was obvious. I could sense that something was brewing. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"So, what did the doctor say?" Lady Vivian asked, turning her full attention to me.
"She said I am doing well," I replied with a smile, wondering when she would mention Markus and Iris so I could add my own commentary.
"Amy, Colin, come to the room. I have to get you changed," Iris called out.
The moment she appeared, we both bit our tongues. We watched silently as she pulled her children closer and led them away, throwing us a glance as if to say she knew we had been talking about her.
Once she was gone, I looked at Lady Vivian again.
"Did something happen?" I asked, acting clueless. "Why is she looking at you like that?"
"That is because she is—she is messy by nature," Lady Vivian replied.
She adjusted her posture and secretly took my hands in hers. Stress was written all over her face.
"I am afraid you were right," she whispered, keeping her voice low.
"About what?" I asked, pretending not to understand.
"Markus and Iris."
I widened my eyes as if shocked.
"Wait, what makes you say that?" I questioned.
"Earlier, the two of them went out to talk. It was odd. They were gone for a long time. One cannot help but wonder what they were doing. And the disturbing part is that they returned just as you did, almost as if they were trying to slip into the mansion unnoticed. I do not know how to explain it, but I saw Markus run inside."
She struggled to find the right words to describe what she had seen and how uncomfortable it made her, while I acted as though I had something important to reveal.
"Oh, about that. We actually caught them coming out of the backyard," I said.
At that, Lady Vivian slowly covered her mouth, disbelief evident in her eyes.
"Yes, they were coming out of the backyard. When they saw us, Markus rushed away from her, and Iris looked anxious. The way she approached me, trying to be sweet, it felt like she was trying to get into our good books so that no questions would be asked. It was so odd. And now that you are telling me they were together for that long, that does not sound good at all."
I spoke as though shaken, watching the color drain from her face and her fingers twist together anxiously.
"I cannot believe she is doing this to my son and my daughter," Lady Vivian uttered, tears forming in her eyes before she forced them back.
"It is okay. We will keep an eye on her, alright? And do not tell Zoe anything yet. We need solid evidence before we accuse the Alpha King’s mate or his mother of anything." I paused.
"And I hope maybe—maybe it is just fear. Maybe we are reading too much into it."
I sighed, pretending to be deeply worried. She immediately took my hands and rubbed them gently between hers.
"No, you are not supposed to take stress. You are right. We will handle everything," she assured me.
Then she leaned in and hugged me.
That was when Iris stepped out again with her children. The moment she saw us together, I noticed fear creep onto her face because I was smiling.
