Chapter 221: 221-The Alpha King Is Madly In Love With Me

Lara:

"What are you doing?" Zoe questioned. "Eavesdropping on the Alpha King?"

Her voice made me clench my jaw as I turned to face her.

"Oh Zoe," I added, forcing a smile as I turned toward her.

"No," I replied lightly. "I was just going to knock and ask Kash if he was coming to my room tonight."

I kept the smile on my lips, even though underneath it, I wanted nothing more than to ruin her face. I knew I would get the chance soon.

And if I did not, Markus would. I knew he was done with her. The only reason he stayed was because she was the Alpha King’s sister, and breaking her heart would mean trouble with Kash.

"Really?" Zoe remarked. "Why are you always circling them as if they were not married before you? Let them spend some time together."

Her words made my eyes widen.

I folded my arms across my chest, watching her face in silence and disbelief. Then I forced a smile onto my lips, reminding myself that her arrogance would only last a few more days.

Soon, I would take my revenge on her and on everyone who thought they could mock me, belittle me, or taunt me.

"Zoe," I began in a sharp tone, "I know why you are running around Iris, acting all eager. It is because of her children, isn’t it?"

I watched her teeth grind together.

"Yet she does not even let you near them," I continued. "Why don’t you focus on yourself and have children of your own? Trust me, you will need that. Soon, neither you nor Iris will be living here, arguing over time with those children."

That was my way of warning her. She should stop chasing Iris because Iris would not be here much longer.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Zoe muttered. "Does my brother know you really think like this?"

Her words reminded me of the fake friendship we once shared. She had only been kind as long as I had been kind to her.

"Trust me," I replied calmly. "Kash would not care even if I dragged Iris by the hand and threw her out."

That finally caught her attention. Fear spread across her face.

"Exactly," I added. "You should be scared. If Kash will not stop me from throwing Iris out, imagine what that means for you. You are only lucky I have not spoken to Kash about you yet."

That was all I said before I straightened my shoulders and stepped away, leaving her frozen in place.

At least now she understood where I stood with Kash.

That night, Kash did not come to my room. I could only assume Iris had angered him enough to make him stay in the living room.

When I woke up and went downstairs, I found him awake on the couch. I felt bad for him.

"Kash," I said softly as I sat beside him and slid closer. "You should have come to the room. Did she give you a hard time?"

He stood up immediately.

"I am sorry," he told me. "We have to prepare to leave."

I knew he moved so quickly because once he relaxed with me, we would lose track of time. Even after our marriage, we had not crossed that line yet. He had told me he wanted our first time after marriage to be special, after he had dealt with every obstacle in our lives.

Paris was where it would happen. That had been my dream when I was seventeen, and he was going to make it real.

While he got ready, I told the warriors to prepare a packed breakfast for us. We would eat in the car.

It was already late, and Kash had asked my father to finish the crowning quickly. He had even requested a small ceremony, but it impressed my father so much that he decided to make it grand.

By the time I came downstairs with my bags, I noticed Iris standing outside with her children. They only wanted to say goodbye to their father. Lady Vivian and Zoe hovered nearby, holding on to Kash’s attention. His mother was especially clingy.

"Text us when you get crowned," she insisted. "And make sure your warrior keeps us on a live call."

That was the part that annoyed me. I knew that once Kash was crowned over so many territories, she would be praised as the royal mother. She did not deserve that title, but she was his mother, and I was not going to speak badly about her and risk losing him.

As for Iris, she stood off to the side, watching Kash with me. She looked jealous. Seeing that filled me with satisfaction. When I reached Kash, he wrapped an arm around me while still speaking with his mother and sister.

"I will," Kash assured them. "Do not worry. Please take care of yourselves and my kids."

Then he turned to me.

"All set?" he asked with a smile.

I met Iris’s gaze before hugging Kash.

"Yes, I am," I replied. "Let’s go."

As we turned away, I noticed Iris had already looked to the other side.

I watched Kash say goodbye to his children once more, then he stepped away and came straight to the car to sit with me.

His children waved at him, and he waved back, while Iris stood there like a bitter loser. Then our journey began.

But there was one more thing left to handle. While Kash was busy checking his emails on his phone, I typed a message to Markus.

"While I am gone, I want you to work on our plan. Remember the one related to Iris."

I hit send and smiled.

I was not foolish enough to ask Kash to give Markus money for a mansion or to hire him for a job without something in return.

For that, Markus had to complete another task. His mission was to ruin Iris’s reputation so there would be no chance of her ever returning to Kash’s life.
