Alpha's Hidden Precious Luna-Chapter 32
Lily POV
I sat back in my chair, trying not to think of what Briella had said in the corridor. She was right anyway; I didn’t deserve to be here.
The room was quiet, with only the soft hum of the air conditioning breaking the silence. Suddenly, the door opened and Kai came in leaving the door slightly ajar as he entered. I could hear the faint sounds from the rest of the building but they felt distant, as if I was in my little world with Kai.
I glanced over at him, finally allowing myself to truly appreciate his appearance. His features were strong and chiselled, with a jawline that could have been sculpted from stone. His dark hair was neatly styled combined with the tan color suit he had on which looked like it was sewn with his body in mind. His amber eyes stared quietly at me. He was handsome... too much.
I’d been too nervous in the car, sitting so close to him, to take in the details. Now, with a bit of distance, I could see why so many people were drawn to him. He wasn’t just attractive – there was something about him that commanded attention, something that made it hard to look away. Did everyone feel this or was it just me?
With the way he was dressed, was he going to take Briella out for dinner again?
As if sensing my gaze, Kai turned to face me, his expression unreadable. I quickly averted my eyes, feeling my cheeks flush. I didn’t want to be caught staring.
Kai cleared his throat and unbuttoned the top button of his casual – it was a casual gesture but it made me want to drool. I forced myself to focus on something else – anything else but the way the tendons in his neck moved or how his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. I felt the heat rise in my cheeks again and mentally queried myself.
What was I doing having such thoughts about the Alpha, he was way out of my league.
“So,” he said, breaking the silence. “How have things been going for you this week?”.
I straightened in my seat, grateful for the change in subject.
“Well, it went well. A few days ago, I went with Celeste to a car repair shop and he was nice to me. His name is Jake and he was nice to me. Everyone has been nice to me too. I finally registered at the pack’s college and I started my first classes today. So far, I’m adjusting to everything nicely and everyone is so nice to me,”. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
“Celeste took you to Jake’s shop?” he asked suddenly sighing. “Why would she do that?”
“It was my car, she –,”.
“You should stay away from him and his shop,” He said before I finished speaking “Did you hear me?”
“Y-yes Alpha. It’s just that he was nice to me and...”.
“So, you make friends with anyone nice to you? Didn’t you hear what I said? Stay the fuck away from him. Okay? I don’t want to see you going there. If there’s something wrong with your car, someone else will take it there for you,”.
“Okay, Alpha!” I answered surprised at the way he seemed annoyed. “By the way, I also met your cousin, Kevin. He helped me a lot today,”.
“You met Kevin?” he asked again, his brow furrowing into a deep frown.
“Yes!” I answered.
“You should stay away from Kevin too,” he said quietly “Avoid him at all costs,”.
I thought about the warning from my classmate about Kai’s cousin and wondered why everyone was asking me to stay away from him. “Yes, I...I’ll keep my distance,” I said choosing my words carefully.
He seemed satisfied with my response, but the tension in his expression didn’t entirely ease plus he was staring at me again. After a while, I decided to break the silence.
“Alpha, I also wanted to ask when I’m going to take the physical test that you told me about. The one that I need to complete to fully become a member of this pack,”.
“Oh!” he cleared his throat adjusting his tie. “How about this weekend? Are you busy?”
“Of course, Alpha. This weekend is perfect. I’ll be on my way then. I wouldn’t want to impose on any of your work,”.
As I gathered my things to leave, I saw him walking over to me. His movements were slow and deliberate and his gaze was fixed on mine. He stopped just in front of me, his presence suddenly overwhelming. I looked up at him, my breath catching in my throat. What did he want now?
“Give me your hand,” he said.
I blinked in surprise but I opened mechanically, holding out my hand towards him. His land was large and warm as it enveloped mine. I felt a strange jolt of energy at the contact, my pulse quickened and I struggled to keep my composure.
“I think it’s time to admit you to the pack’s mindlink. It’s easier and safer this way,” he explained, his gaze never leaving mine.
I nodded and lowered my gaze. Our palms began to heat up and soon I didn’t know if it was my palm or Kai’s palm that was sweating. I wanted to pull out at some point, but he held me firmly and didn’t allow me to leave. After a few minutes, I felt a strange sensation, like a gentle pressure pushing its way into my mind. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it was unfamiliar and I struggled to adjust to it.
I could feel Kai’s presence more strongly now, I could feel his heartbeat and his pulse – it was as if a door had opened between us.
After a moment, I heard his voice in my mind. It was clear and distinct. “You can mind link me whenever you need to now. This will also allow you to communicate with other members of the pack and hear urgent messages, okay?”
My eyes widened in surprise. In my old pack, I was never admitted to the Pack’s mind link, not even the communication route between my sister and my father. They told me I was wolfless and that I didn’t have the talent or the right to access such a privilege. Now, I knew it was only a lame excuse, anyone could be admitted into the mind link portal.
“You’re part of this pack, Lily. Don’t forget that,” Kai’s voice came again.
My breath caught in my throat. The connection felt both intimate and empowering. I nodded, unable to find the words to respond but I didn’t need to. I could feel Kai’s acknowledgement through the mind link. Like an assurance that I wasn’t alone.
“I know this is all new to you, but you’re doing well and you should always respond to me when I try reaching out through the mind link okay?”
I felt a surge of warmth at his words – it was as if he was being grateful to me and not the other way around. I looked down at my hand, still tingling from the contact, and then back up at Kai.
“Thank you,” I said quietly. “For everything,”.
His smile widened just a fraction and he nodded. “You’re welcome, Lily,”.
It was one thing to admit me into the mindlink but I also knew few wolves had access to mindlinking the Alpha directly. Even in my old pack. The only people who had direct mind links were my sister, my father’s Beta and a few elders in the pack. So, it was strange that I was getting a direct mind link to Kai, himself.
Or maybe this was how it was done in this pack!
