Almighty Father System-Chapter 404: Courtroom Showdown.

Leo finished instructing Artemis and sat down on the chair whilst he sorted up the set of documents that Fragrance gave him. Today was just the day where he needed to submit the affidavit and make the opening argument for the court to accept the trial and then on the next date, he will slam Simmons.

The bailiff said, "All rise."

The people stood up as the judged walked in from the side door and took his seat on the high chair behind the table. The people bowed slightly before sitting down and the Judge said, "The prosecution may begin."

Leo stood up from the chair and then he walked over to the reader below and said, "Your honor, I am Leo Cardinal, and I would be representing Miss Holl in your court. These are my credentials and the affidavit."

The judge raised his head and looked at Leo in surprise as he asked, "Why is Miss Holl not using a certified lawyer?"

Leo replied calmly, "The certified Lawyer she appointed is unable to be a part of this trial due to some personal circumstances and so she agreed to let me handle it."

The judge looked at Artemis and asked, "Miss Holl, do you realize that if Mister Cardinal lost the trial upon the acceptance, you cannot blame the court?"

Artemis stood up and nodded as she said, "I trust him to be my lawyer, Sir."

The judge nodded and then he went through the documents for a couple of minutes, from both the sides before he said, "The prosecution may state the opening argument."

Leo took a deep breath and he stood up before he said, "Your honor, the incident before us happened on the twenty third of the last month when my client was heading back from her part time job. Mister Carter forcefully abducted her and violated her dignity.

Your honor, not only is this a matter of abusing a minor, but also a matter of how Mister Carter shamed the humane element of our species. It may sound like I am exaggerating the facts but Your Honor, this man who committed such a heinous sin, did not repent and even tried to buy my clients silence with some monetary gains he offered.

We would like to seek justice in your honorable court so that the sinful of the society can be punished. As for the dignity of my client, she did nothing wrong, and so she is still the dignified person that she was before and the one who should be ashamed is Mister Carter. We only seek a fair chance to do justice by Miss Holl, and also setting a precedent where many others like her could get the justice that they deserve."

The judge looked at Leo and one thing was confirmed, they were not going to take a step back. The defense lawyer had a pale face because he was somewhat twisted with rage and shame. His clients image was stained as a sinner of the human race. The argumentative weight has shifted and he could not think of a way to say anything.

The Judge asked, "Mister Carter, what do you plead?"

This was one of the basic questions that the judge would ask, if the defendant pleaded guilty and confessed of his crimes, then his punishment would be lenient but Simmons had no such thought, he was shocked when he spotted Leo in the court as the lawyer, but listening to his opening statement, it was now proved that the Cardinal could not do anything to him apart from talking big.

So, Simmons stood up from the chair and said, "Your Honor, I plead not guilty."

Leo smiled and then he provocatively looked at the man but didn’t say anything. Fragrance on the other side clenched the documents she was holding in her hands. She could see the expression of disdain that Simmons was projecting toward Leo.

She turned to look at her brother and found him smirking calmly. The judge asked, "Since the defendant has pleaded not guilty, the court will hold trial three days later. None of the parties involved are allowed to go outside the city."

It was a criminal case from what Leo understood, but when Fragrance broke up with Simmons before she was heading out to file a complaint in the police station, Simmons had also faked his health status and called in for the anticipatory bail. So that was why he was sitting outside the prison and this was also why the judge gave the warning.

The two parties nodded, and the judge wrote down the judgement before he said, "The court is adjourned for five minutes."

Bang!

The gavel hit the desk and then Leo said, "Artemis, let’s go, that was all for today."

Artemis stood up from the chair and then just when they were about to leave, a discontent voice sounded from the side, "I told you, take the money but you decided to fight it out with me, you will not get anything now, nor money nor the respect."

Leo turned to look at Simmons and then patted Artemis on the head before he said, "Mister Simmons, I wonder if someone did the same thing to your sister, mother, or wife, would you take the money and sit back in that cozy chair that you have at home?"

His simple retort caused Simmons face to twist and he was about to say something when Leo said, "I have about ten thousand methods to deal with you but I have chosen the path of law. If you try to poke me one more time, then I will also not handle things like this."

His cold voice, and the indifferent gaze caused Simmons to falter, he realized for the first time the aura that Leo commanded. He took a step back and Leo left the court hall with Artemis and her family.

When they came out of the hall, Leo said, "Mister Holl, I would like to invite you to stay at my house for the time being."

Mister Holl was shocked, and he was about to say no when Fragrance said, "Mister Holl, my brother is not doing this because he pities you, it is because he is worried about your safety. We cannot be too sure that Simmons will not make any move against you."

Leo nodded and said, "This arrangement would only last till he court gives out a judgment."

The family of three were surprised, and then Leo said, "I live with my family and such surroundings would do good for Artemis."

The couple finally agreed, Artemis was of same age as Symphony so Leo didn’t have much trouble with her either. Just when he was thinking about how to proceed about the case, he heard a loud cheerful voice, "Baba!"

Leo was stunned, he could not mistake this voice, he turned around to follow the voice and locate its source, and sure enough, he saw Lily dashing towards him with wide steps. He was surprised, and before he could react, his little angel jumped in his arms and the young man held her in his embrace before he asked, "Baby, what are you doing here?"

Lily chuckled and said, "Baba, today the principal escorted our class to spend a day in the court and see the various departments and also to talk and learn from a few lawyers. Just now when you were in the court hall, we saw you through the screen. Everyone was so shocked to see you, it was simply too awesome."

Leo chuckled and asked, "Well, now would you like to go back home with us, or would you go back to school first."

Lily shook her head and replied, "No, the tour has yet to end."

Leo nodded and replied, "Fine, I will pick you up when the school ends. Now, go and learn. Be obedient to the teachers and don’t run around."

At this moment another voice echoed, "Indeed, little girl. You should not run around after all the world is a dangerous place."

Leo turned to look at the person and instinctively he reached out to grab the man by his neck before lifting him up in the air. The whole crowd was shocked to see this. Fragrance rushed over and said, "Brother!"

Leo woke up from his rage and retracted his hand letting the man fall to the ground. Then he looked directly in Simmons eyes as he said, "You don’t get to talk to my daughter, you don’t get to think of my daughter. You don’t get to exist within several hundred meters radius of my daughter, do you understand that, you crawling disgusting piece of filth?"

He was literally enraged, and had it not been for Fragrance’s reminder, he would have snapped the neck of the man and killed him. This may seem too volatile, but the person he was dealing with was a rapist and how could Leo let this guy near Lily even if it was in context with hatred?
