After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 483 - 188: The Farewell Embrace
"We cannot defeat the King of Ash like this," whispered the Goddess of Ingenuity, no longer disguised as branches of the Tree of Omniscience, but instead hiding behind a protruding rock on the ground, quietly peeping at the battle unfolding.
Gods were falling one after another at the hands of the King of Ash. Even though many of them had succeeded in wounding the King of Ash, the reinforcements he got from Ragnarok made him almost immortal, rendering their attacks nearly meaningless.
"Relying on brute force will definitely not defeat Ahtal," came a gentle female voice. The Goddess of Ingenuity, who was crouched behind the rock, suddenly turned her head to see the Love Goddess walking over with a smile, explaining softly to her.
"As Ragnarok approaches, Ahtal’s power will keep increasing. Even if he is sealed, he will break through the seal quickly."
Goddess of Ingenuity: "..."
She was already aware of this information; it meant nothing. The gods feared the King of Ash because he possessed the immense power to burn the world, enough to personally burn down the omnipresent God of Omniscience.
"Phew!" The Love Goddess closed her eyes and sighed deeply before opening them again and gazing earnestly at the Goddess of Ingenuity.
"So I plan for Ahtal to defeat the King of Ash."
"..." The Goddess of Ingenuity’s eyes revealed her confusion, suddenly unable to comprehend the peculiar words of the Love Goddess. The King of Ash was Ahtal; how could he possibly defeat himself?
"Human thoughts are very contradictory, often torn between two appealing choices when in doubt," said the Love Goddess, her beautiful eyes reflecting Ahtal’s fighting figure, a sense of hopelessness surging within her as she viewed the massacre among the gods, seemingly an invincible being, making it impossible even to consider opposing him.
Compared with the gods brave enough to battle Ahtal, she viewed herself as a very cowardly goddess. Without any chance of victory, she dared not face Ahtal, for that would be no different from suicide.
"Deep in Ahtal’s heart, he does not wish to harm the Tree," she explained to the Goddess of Ingenuity, "Otherwise, with Ahtal’s power, he could kill all gods while harming the Tree, without ever needing to pause the destruction."
The Goddess of Ingenuity couldn’t help but ask, "So what are you trying to say exactly?"
"You can understand it as me planning to defeat the King of Ash," said the Love Goddess with a smile, leaving the Goddess of Ingenuity stunned in place.
She looked at Ahtal’s invulnerable figure, then at the weak Love Goddess, and couldn’t help but twitch her lips.
"So, do you also wish to cut off Ahtal’s head and become the savior of this world?"
"As I said, I plan for Ahtal to defeat the King of Ash," the Love Goddess gently shook her head, clapping her hands lightly, "But to achieve that, I need to get close to Ahtal and then deal actual damage."
"Don’t look at me like that," the Goddess of Ingenuity shook her head vigorously, "I don’t have the ability to help you, let alone to harm Ahtal."
"No, you definitely can!" The Love Goddess grabbed the Goddess of Ingenuity’s cheeks, preventing her from escaping, "Use your power to help me approach Ahtal, then block one of his moves for me, buying me a moment’s time."
The Goddess of Ingenuity pointed at herself: "Me, help you approach Ahtal?"
The Love Goddess nodded: "Yes."
"And also block one of Ahtal’s moves?" The Goddess of Ingenuity rolled her eyes, expressing her inner thoughts, "That’s just an impossible task."
As a lesser goddess, she had to accept her reality. Unlike the Goddess of Life or the Goddess of Death, there was simply no way she could confront Ahtal. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Even though she was also a goddess, that did not mean her strength was very formidable. She could dominate ordinary mortals with ease, but could be easily beaten by any demon.
The idea of relying on her weak self to block one of Ahtal’s moves was utterly impossible.
"I have a plan," the Love Goddess said cheerfully, her hands pressing firmly on the Goddess of Ingenuity’s shoulders, looking at her resistant expression as she explained, "After blocking Ahtal’s move, you will have enough time to escape."
Goddess of Ingenuity: "Can you let go of me?"
"Let me finish first," the Love Goddess shook her head, starting to outline her plan, "The God of Beauty and Art and I have formulated a plan. You just need to use your ingenious power to disguise yourself as the All-Knowing Saintess, take me with you to teleport right in front of Ahtal, and then say ’I don’t want to die anymore.’"
She raised her finger.
"Ahtal will definitely hesitate for a moment, and that counts as you blocking one of Ahtal’s moves; after that, all you need to do is run away."
Upon hearing the entirety, the Goddess of Ingenuity, with a face full of resistance said:
"Disguised as the All-Known Saintess... wouldn’t Ahtal come after me to kill me if that doesn’t work? I’d be doomed, right?"
"If the plan works, you won’t need to worry about Ahtal killing you," the Love Goddess smiled, "and if it fails, then you’re just going to die later."
The Goddess of Ingenuity hesitated, but then thought about how the Love Goddess was risking her own life by getting close to the King of Ash. Perhaps it was not too bad to try gambling with her own life.
She bowed her head and said:
"Alright."
"Let’s do it," the Love Goddess grabbed the Goddess of Ingenuity’s wrist, and the other hand held an arrow with a heart-shaped tip. Her plan was actually quite simple... and very risky.
Now she was betting on Ahtal having the notion of not wanting to harm the Tree, harboring deep feelings for the All-Knowing Saintess in his heart; leveraging her and the God of Beauty and Art’s powers to strike Ahtal and fully awaken the human aspect of his heart.
