Chapter 2113: Chapter 2090: Old Subordinates

People always have a strong curiosity about things that almost took their lives, along with a sense of relief from surviving a disaster. In short, under the combined influence of various emotions, they definitely want to go back and have another look.

The five of them, filled with curiosity but trembling, cautiously approached the place where they had been stealing vegetables. They saw that the missile’s tail was no longer emitting smoke, its tail fins nearly burnt off, and most importantly, the missile showed no signs of exploding.

Standing tens of meters away and taking a few glances at the missile, Phoenix said solemnly, "This is the luckiest moment of my life."

Gao Yang waved his hand and said, "Let’s move forward a bit. Take a clearer look."

As they walked a bit closer, they found an old man standing next to the missile, squatting beside it, seemingly fiddling with something.

"Don’t move, step away from the missile!"

After shouting a few times to get the old man away, they stood next to the missile. Wizard sternly said to the old man, "It’s dangerous here. You must leave immediately."

"This thing smashed my tomatoes, those damned Fascists actually fired ballistic missiles at residential areas."

Gao Yang looked at the old man with surprise. For an old farmer to immediately recognize what it was did indeed astonish him.

"Why are you looking at me? Isn’t this a ballistic missile?"

"Uh, yes, let me take a look. This is a Dot-type Missile. Fortunately, it didn’t explode; otherwise, your house would be gone."

After Gao Yang calmly said this, the old man puffed out angrily, "Dropping such a thing, how should I deal with it? I can’t just leave it here. What if it explodes? Yet, if I try to move it, it might explode too. Damn it."

Cui Bo raised his head towards the old man and chuckled, "Uncle, can I eat a few of your tomatoes?"

"Oh, take as many as you like. I’ve grown plenty and can’t finish them all."

Wizard waved his hand and said to the old man, "Leave here. We will check it out."

The old man waved his hand and said, "Be careful, you guys."

The old man left, and Wizard held his chin, studying the missile carefully for a moment before declaring in a deep voice, "This is a Dot U-type Missile."

Gao Yang laughed and said, "Regardless of what type of missile this is, I only know that the Government Forces are in trouble."

Wizard looked at Gao Yang, and Gao Yang smiled, "It’s quite simple. After all, this is a civil war. If the Government Forces were handling things easily, they wouldn’t choose to use ballistic missiles. They hadn’t used them before, but are using them now, indicating they have no other means left. So perhaps the battle for Donetsk will end soon." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Wizard nodded and said, "Makes sense. Using missiles means they know conventional troops can’t capture Donetsk. But using ballistic missiles also means the battles in the following days will be intense. It seems we’re going to have to prepare for a mad assault from the enemy."

Pursuing victory or using a trump card, subsequent attacks must follow. Ballistic missiles can be used as a final resort when there are no other options, much like the missile city assaults in the Iran-Iraq War. But more often, using ballistic missiles marks the prelude to a large-scale attack.

Missiles can knock out large concentrations of enemy troops or critical logistical bases, or airports, causing as much damage as possible and weakening the enemy’s continuous combat ability, facilitating subsequent air strikes or large-scale ground offensives.

So looking at Ukraine’s situation, the Government Forcesn’t using ballistic missiles couldn’t be for indiscriminate city assaults; it’s just the prelude to a new round of attacks.

After briefly chatting, Wizard started contacting the command center. The Government Forces’ use of ballistic missiles was a big deal, and he needed to discuss it with Nate. Meanwhile, Gao Yang and the others started to continue picking tomatoes.

This time it wasn’t stealing, it was with the owner’s permission, so they weren’t hit by a second missile.

Although it was brief, staying near an unexploded missile was always frightening, so Gao Yang and the others quickly left the vegetable field and proceeded with their journey to the artillery position.

As they walked, Wizard’s face looked a bit serious. Gao Yang handed Wizard a tomato and asked, "Do you need to go back and arrange the defense or something?"

Wizard shook his head and said, "No need. My mission is to assist you in selecting the artillery you want. Our defense lines don’t need significant adjustments. The enemy can’t breach it."

Since Wizard said it wasn’t necessary, Gao Yang wouldn’t insist either. The five of them correctly determined their direction again, crossed the bushes and paths, and quickly reached the artillery position they were looking for.

"Who goes there, stop! Or I’ll shoot!"

A sudden shout rang out. Wizard raised his hand to signal Gao Yang and the others to stop, then shouted back, "Friendly forces, don’t shoot."

Gao Yang and the others stood still for a moment as two armed sentinels emerged from the bushes, sizing them up.

"I’ve notified your commander that we’re coming to the position. Here are my credentials."

As the deputy commander of Angel, Wizard was naturally a senior officer of this armed group. The sentinels below might not all recognize him. Just as he was about to show his identity, one of the sentinels suddenly asked, "Are you Colonel Ram?"

Gao Yang hesitated for a moment and then said, "Uh, I am."

The sentinel immediately put away the gun, signaled to the others that everything was fine, and then promptly saluted Gao Yang, shouting, "Sir, I’m a warrior from the 1st Battalion, 1st Company of the Kharzisk Group. I’ve seen you before."

Gao Yang suddenly perked up, returned a salute, and shouted, "Oh, I remember. I’ve seen you before. You were with Vorvitsky back then. How’s your company commander doing?"

Strictly speaking, this warrior could be considered one of Gao Yang’s former subordinates.

While defending Khartsyzk for Angel, Gao Yang promoted a batch of officers on the battlefield and executed a deputy company commander, directly promoting a brave university student as the company commander. This soldier had seen Gao Yang in action and thus recognized him, but not Wizard.

"Our company commander is right behind, sir. Please come with me."

They began to walk forward, Gao Yang nudged Wizard with his elbow, winking and looking smug, whispering, "Your soldiers don’t recognize you but know that I’m their commanding officer."

If Gao Yang were still commanding these soldiers for Angel, he wouldn’t act like this. But he’s left them now and won’t return to compete for men with Angel, so he could freely taunt Wizard.

Wizard glanced sideways at Gao Yang and muttered, "Boring."
