Chapter 417: Chapter 156 We’re Slandering You, Can You Please Not Be So Happy_2

The man dressed as a butler feigned calmness, "You... would you really do that?"

"You can try," Xi Mu sneered, "In thirty minutes, see if the Elf Kingdom still exists."

He brushed past the man dressed as a butler.

"I’ll be waiting for your challenge at the royal palace. If you can’t defeat me in thirty minutes, then all of you... will die."

It was a bluff, meant to force them into initiating a decisive battle.

The man dressed as a butler was convinced of this, believing that Ahtal, being who he was, could not possibly annihilate a whole nation; such a disrespect for life would never earn him the favor of the Goddess of Life. Therefore, Ahtal must be deliberately performing for them.

However, if Ahtal did indeed strike, it wouldn’t harm his spirit, yet it would lead to the destruction of a city inhabited by more than thirty million people.

...

...

The royal palace.

The guards clutched their spears tightly, feeling their palms sweat, as they looked at the demon entering from the outside of the great hall. For the first time facing a demon, they felt as if their hearts were being gripped and they were about to suffocate.

Despite having hundreds of colleagues in the great hall, all elite members of the Elf race, this did not mean they felt confident in facing a demon.

Guards.

Nobles.

The Elf Queen.

Not daring to utter a single word, they could only quietly watch Ahtal approach until he was near the Elf Queen.

Xi Mu lowered his head to look at the petite, blonde girl on the throne, who had her hands in front of her knees, clutching them tightly as she defiantly raised her face to meet his gaze as if saying she wasn’t afraid, maintaining the dignity befitting a queen.

"Quite brave, befitting the Elf Queen," he said as he reached out and grabbed the collar of the Elf Queen’s dress, moving her aside like a kitten by the scruff of its neck and placing her beside the throne, before he himself sat down on it.

The Elf Queen said nothing, just furiously glared at Ahtal with accusing eyes, yet dared not say a word.

"Glaring won’t kill me," said Xi Mu, propping his chin with one hand, as he handed a dagger to the Elf Queen, "Why not try stabbing me with this?"

The Elf Queen subconsciously took the dagger, then her gaze fell on Ahtal’s neck, followed by an urgent cry from someone else.

"Your Majesty, you absolutely must not!" A grey-haired old man with a face full of wrinkles suddenly knelt down, anxiously explaining to the Elf Queen, "Provoking Ahtal could bring unprecedented disaster to our Elf race."

He wiped the cold sweat off his forehead.

"Behind Ahtal is the Witch of Death," he declared.

The sound of the dagger falling, "clang," the Elf Queen lowered her eyelids, and she became meek, no longer daring to shoot any accusing glances at Ahtal.

"After all, I killed your disciple and daughter," Xi Mu inquired curiously, "Don’t you want revenge?"

You killed the former Elf Queen’s daughter and... disciple," the Elf Queen explained, "I have only recently taken office."

"Is that so?" Xi Mu nodded slightly, surprisingly patient in communicating with the Elf Queen; this was because the current Elf Queen was crafted exquisitely, as well as because players starting off in the Elf race could meet the future Elf Queen in the early stages, experiencing an engaging quest storyline.

Furthermore, due to the Elf Queen’s likable character design, he was willing to engage in conversation with her to pass the time.

Before long.

"Lord Ahtal, why do you indiscriminately slaughter the innocent?" the Elf Queen asked, expressing her doubt, "You don’t seem like the type of man to do such things."

After her conversation with Ahtal, she found the entire process to be quite pleasant and relaxed, not noticing that Ahtal was an extremely dangerous and extreme man.

So, she felt there must be some misunderstanding.

"There is no misunderstanding," Xi Mu smiled back, "In a few more minutes, I will burn the Elf Country to ashes."

He spoke in a casual tone.

"All of you will die."

The atmosphere froze at this instant.

Everyone present looked at the demon seated on the throne with horrorstricken eyes, wanting to loudly curse, yet fearful that disaster might arrive prematurely.

However.

"Is that so," the Elf Queen suddenly smiled faintly, her demeanor revealing that she took Ahtal’s threatening words lightly.

She faced Ahtal with a questioning gaze.

"I just remembered something delightful."

"Is it because your wife is about to give birth?" Xi Mu inquired, only to see the Elf Queen start slightly, as if questioning whether she had heard incorrectly.

She simply believed that Ahtal had no intention of annihilating Elf Country; otherwise, Ahtal would not have deliberately set a timeframe but instead could have simply unleashed Dragon Breath a few times while being sealed by the barrier, and that would have been the end of the Elf Kingdom.

And at that moment.

"Elf queens usually give birth by themselves," a light chuckle spread through the great hall, capturing the attention of everyone present.

The newcomer was not alone; leading the group was a gaunt man with a masked face, holding poisonous daggers in both hands.

Behind him were two others: a man festooned with fine needles and a fashionably dressed woman with scissors in hand.

"God of Assassination, God of Stitching, Goddess of Tailoring," Xi Mu stood up from the throne’s armrest, "So it’s just the three of you gods here to confront me?"

"For the sake of Elf Country, we must step forward," the God of Assassination said, flipping the dagger in his hand and continuing to provoke Ahtal’s state of mind.

Despite the fact that it was their plan that left Ahtal trapped in Elf Country and faced with such circumstances, they portrayed themselves as though they were the Saviors.

This definitely can...

"Then you’d better work hard," Xi Mu said with an anticipating smile, raising a finger as his aura turned more dangerous than ever, "because if you can’t defeat me, the Demon King, everyone here will die."

God of Assassination: "..."

Why so cheerful, when we are inverting black and white? Why does this make us feel even more excited?

"Clap!" Suddenly, the sound of clapping rang out, and all eyes turned towards the source, only to see the Elf Queen with her hands together, lips murmuring a Spell.

The scenery of heaven and earth transformed abruptly, shifting from the original Elf Kingdom to an unknown forest, with the Elf Queen standing upon a colossal tree’s outstretched palm.

Elf Paradise.

This was the inner kingdom of the Elf Queen’s heart, theoretically the most suitable realm for Elves to live in, yet now it had become a battlefield for gods and demons.

"Boom!" Towers of black flame erupted skywards, swiftly engulfing the lush forest.

Perched on the treant’s palm, the Elf Queen pursed her lips, straining to maintain her inner kingdom, to prevent their battle from spilling over and involving more innocent Elves.

"Hahaha... Make an effort, gods," Xi Mu laughed maniacally before swinging the Great Sword of Death, the black flames slicing the ground asunder.

"Stitch!" An unexpected voice broke through, and space seemed to be pulled together by invisible threads; suddenly, the Goddess of Tailoring, who was previously at a distance, was drawn close, her scissors thrusting towards Ahtal’s neck.

"Tailor!" The sharp scissors cut through space, but Ahtal, who had anticipated, tilted his head to dodge.

Was it a power related to fate?

Meeting Ahtal’s cold gaze, the Goddess of Tailoring felt a surge of urgency. Despite having several plans in place, the mere preliminary clash was already very pressuring if all she needed was to test Ahtal’s strength.

If she were accidentally killed, that would be disastrous.

"Stitch!" That steady male voice came again from afar, as space was stitched up once more by invisible fine threads, causing the Goddess of Tailoring to vanish from the spot instantly.

"How is it?" The God of Stitching asked the Goddess of Tailoring as she reappeared beside him, his expression changing drastically as he promptly activated his power, whisking the Goddess of Tailoring away.

The moment they disappeared, the ground where they had just been was engulfed by scorching Dragon Breath, and a black mushroom cloud rose, darkening the sky.

"Cough cough cough!" The Elf Queen knelt on one knee, her slender hand tightly covering her lips, yet unable to stop the blood seeping out. Blood spilled from her eyes, nose, and ears, staining her clothes crimson.

It was only a probing exchange, but she was already struggling to hold on. If things continued like this, the kingdom in her heart would inevitably collapse.

What to do now.

"Give me your hand," a gentle female voice came from beside her. The Elf Queen looked towards the sound and saw a young girl cloaked in a gray mantle extending a hand that was delicate as jade.

"Who are you?" She asked, yet still grasped the mysterious girl’s offered hand, which felt incredibly soft but also reassuring.

It was as if holding that hand meant there was nothing to worry about.
