After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 416 - 156: We’re Slandering You, Can You Not Be So Happy About It?
The Demon left.
Only then did the elves in the square come to their senses and begin to flee in panic, retreating toward the outside of the Elf Kingdom. Otherwise, they might all be killed by Ahtal in one go. Although the process of Ahtal’s killings seemed to follow certain rules and didn’t look like indiscrimate slaughter, under uncertain circumstances,
no one dared to bet that Ahtal wouldn’t start killing everyone.
"We must leave quickly," said a flat-chested female elf, pulling her younger sister by the hand as they escaped toward the outskirts of the Elf Capital.
However,
"Bang!" Her forehead suddenly hit an invisible barrier, and the rebounding force made the flat-chested female elf fall seated on the ground.
"What on earth is going on?" She covered her forehead with one hand, the corners of her eyes welling with tears, and she struggled to stand up again, reaching out to touch the invisible barrier in front of her.
"Who set up this barrier?"
"It must be Ahtal," whispered the loli elf beside her, "set up to prevent us from escaping."
"Does Ahtal really want to kill us?" The flat-chested female elf’s eyes revealed despair. She used to admire Ahtal very much and hoped to have the opportunity to speak with him, thinking Ahtal was her ideal type of man.
But when Ahtal truly appeared, she realized that he was a heartless Demon of Slaughter, and even pleading desperately was useless.
"Sister, let’s escape underground," the loli elf suggested calmly, "On the surface, we might all be killed."
"Right." The flat-chested female elf also came to her senses, pulling her sister by the hand as they made for the underground shelter.
Wherever the two sisters passed, there were elves in panic. The guards who used to protect the capital could only barely maintain the current order and did not dare to confront the demon Ahtal.
But one couldn’t blame the capital’s guards; confronting a demon was far beyond their capabilities.
Shortly after,
"Splat!" Hot blood gushed out, splattering the stone pavement red. Xi Mu shook the Great Sword of Death and glanced at the terrified elf sisters not far away.
He recognized the elf sisters. If one chose to start in the Elf map, they could have many interesting plots with them early in the game. If a player had enough patience, they could even win the hearts of both sisters.
But now he had no interest in triggering the sister’s plotline.
Withdrawing his gaze, Xi Mu continued to wander the Elf Kingdom, hunting the avatars of the God of Assassination. Unlike ordinary gods that could only burst experience once, the God of Assassination was a bit different, as long as it was an avatar of the God of Assassination, it could maintain experience points.
Although these experience points were much less than those from ordinary gods, accumulated they were quite significant; a good appetizer for the slaying of the Ice and Snow Goddess.
"Survived?" The flat-chested female elf blinked, only to find her sister suddenly pulled on her hand.
"Don’t worry about it so much, maybe he just thinks you’re too insignificant to kill," said the loli elf while dragging her sister toward the underground shelter, not thinking for a moment that because Ahtal had spared their lives, he might not be a bad person.
What mattered most now was staying alive.
...
...
In a secluded residential area.
In the corridor,
"You really are cruel," a woman elf dressed as a young matron said as she walked cat-like, holding daggers smeared with lethal poison, "You used to be a hero, and now you are massacring civilians without restriction."
"Have you got something wrong?" Xi Mu tilted his head, looking at the scantily clad elven matron, his lips curving into a malicious smile, "Why apply the standards of a hero to me? I became a hero merely because I did what a hero was supposed to do; it doesn’t mean I am a hero. Whether or not I am one doesn’t matter as long as I can achieve my own goals."
He disappeared in an instant, his outstretched palm pressing against the elf matron’s cheek, pushing her down and unleashing black flames that engulfed her corpse.
"But even if I say this, you won’t give up your mistaken notion, right?" Xi Mu straightened up and raised his hand toward the sky, swirling black flames obscuring it, turning the Elf Kingdom suddenly dark while the temperature soared in an instant, creating the illusion of being in a desert.
"In thirty minutes, I will turn the Elf Country into ashes, unless you can stop me."
"Hey, are you serious?" A male elf, dressed as a butler, walked out with a befuddled expression, "Burn down the Elf Capital in thirty minutes?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"I am already a Demon; isn’t it normal to destroy a few countries?" Xi Mu replied with a puzzled tone, "Do you think I would care about their lives and deaths?"
The butler-dressed man: "..."
The situation was a bit different than expected. After Ahtal discovered their assassination plans, they immediately changed their strategy, deciding to attack Ahtal on a psychological level, to slander him, making the once hero become a reviled and feared presence, thereby unbalancing Ahtal’s mental state.
The plan was going very well, just a bit unforeseen, as Ahtal turned out to be more extreme than they had anticipated.
Now he was set on destroying the entire Elf Kingdom.
"Daydreaming counts as part of the time, you know," Xi Mu said with a wicked smile, leaning in to whisper to the butler-dressed male elf, "A merciful god surely wouldn’t want innocent people to be involved, right?"
