After work, start to speedrun the other world-Chapter 394 - 146: The Gravity of Fate
"Ah, right," Hecate set down her teacup, smiling at Ahtal, "she wants to meet you."
Xi Mu asked in confusion, "Who?"
"The woman related to your destiny," Hecate said, her tone calm and soothing yet elusive.
Xi Mu thought for a moment, sighed, and said, "Teacher, there are too many women linked to my fate, I wouldn’t know without you being specific."
"Can you really not figure it out?" Hecate pinched her chin delicately, teasing, "My disciple, you need to focus more on your studies."
"Wait, I know now," Xi Mu forced a smile, abruptly changing the subject, "Teacher, will my fate of becoming a demon proceed smoothly?"
"..." Hecate gently shook her head, feeling a bit helpless at her disciple’s reluctance to study, but she indulged him nonetheless.
"The All Gods will pick the brightest gem from the river of history, bestow upon him the grace to fear nothing, and command him to be your adversary."
"A grace to fear nothing?" Xi Mu’s eyes sparked with anticipation, a black flame seeming to burn within, for he had received the Grace of the Witch of Death, a power that transcended the ordinary.
"Don’t worry, your teacher will grant you the grace to win," Hecate smiled gently, "but not until before your decisive battle with him."
"Why not now?" Xi Mu feigned curiosity, only to see Hecate gently shake her head, gracefully picking up the teacup on the table and watching the ripples in the water.
"If I bestow the grace upon you now, the All Gods will come up with a restraining grace, and you will be completely suppressed."
"To counter me, is it worth making such a fuss?" Xi Mu chuckled in amazement, understanding why Hecate would not grant the grace now; the moment he received it, the flow of destiny would change, and the opponent selected by the All Gods would receive grace that could restrain him.
Thus, Hecate would not grant him the grace now, to prevent the All Gods from giving his enemy a corresponding grace based on the one he already had.
"The All Gods need a victory," Hecate explained, "For this victory, they have woven a fate of inevitable defeat for you."
With the Goddess of Death defeated, the All Gods needed a morale-boosting victory, and defeating Ahtal, the favored of the Witch of Death, was their best choice.
"Then the All Gods will be disappointed," Xi Mu laughed with delight, "My teacher is the Destiny Witch, who can weave my fate."
Hecate smiled amusingly, but still admonished: "Disciple, he will be the strongest enemy you have faced so far; he possesses talent not inferior to yours, wields a Divine Artifact given by the All Gods, and enjoys their patronage as well."
"I really want to face him right now," Xi Mu showed an eager expression, and Hecate, seeing this, did not scold her disciple for his carelessness.
Her disciple, being the most brilliantly talented genius of this era, it was perfectly normal to possess such confidence and pride.
If her disciple were to be timid and hesitant, it would, in fact, be very strange, being the most renowned hero of the ages, not only garnering the attention of both witch and goddess but also having ventured into Hell and personally returned the source of fear to the high heavens.
It would be a miracle in any age to still fear an opponent chosen by the All Gods.
That would indeed be very strange.
As night fell.
Outside the grand library,
Xi Mu looked back at the grand library, then turned and vanished into the darkness to meet the woman linked to his destiny.
This woman was neither Letixia, Yasiraqi, nor Mist, even though they seemed to have a good relationship with him.
But they were not quite related to his destiny.
...
...
Walking through the dim streets,
he arrived at a secluded mansion, where lush vines climbed the rusting railings, and a few azure-feathered birds perched on the roof.
Compared to the cold winds outside, this mansion seemed sheltered from them, not only featuring a green lawn but also bursting with vibrant flowers.
Xi Mu pushed open the door and walked into the mansion.
As if sensing his presence, the mansion’s owner also came out, dressed in nun’s clothes with her eyes veiled by silk.
"Lord Ash, you have finally decided to meet me," the veiled nun raised her hand, gently resting it on her full bosom, her voice touched with emotion.
She knew Ahtal had returned to the Magic Kingdom before, but he usually went to see Hecate and never even asked about her.
This made her feel as if Ahtal had forgotten her.
"Sorry, I’ve just been too busy," Xi Mu said, using the kind of excuses a man might offer his wife, as he approached the veiled nun, "When teacher mentioned a woman related to my destiny wanted to meet, I thought of you right away."
He reached out, brushing back the hair from the veiled nun’s forehead.
"I guess I wasn’t wrong?"
"Lord Ash, you were not wrong," the veiled nun bowed respectfully, feeling suddenly elated, although she had the impression that she was very easy to please, the fact that Lord Ash had no need to placate her meant those words must have come from his heart.
"What did you want to see me about?" Xi Mu withdrew his hand and walked further into the mansion, while the veiled nun pursed her lips and followed in Ahtal’s footsteps.
After preparing tea and snacks for Ahtal in the living room,
"Lord Ash, do you want to become a demon?" the veiled nun asked Ahtal, then nodded on seeing his response.
