"Isn't it yours? Then whose is it?" The woman looked surprised.

Chen Feng shook his head. As he turned to leave, the woman called out to him again, "Wait a moment."

Chen Feng looked back at her a bit strangely, "Is there something else?"

The woman elegantly bent her knees and used a tissue in her hand to wrap the fifty yuan bill on the ground before standing up again. She smiled and said to Chen Feng, "Since this money isn't yours or mine, let's wait a bit. The person who lost it might come back soon. Can you please be my witness? I only picked up this fifty yuan."

Chen Feng was speechless. Is this woman foolish? Or just foolish? Nobody would want to do such a thankless task.

Besides, although he had the time, he didn't want to waste it on this.

Just as Chen Feng was about to refuse, an old man hurriedly walked over from not far behind the woman, saying, "Miss, this is the money I accidentally dropped earlier. Thank you so much. Could you please return it to me?"

The woman wasn't actually foolish. She didn't give the money to the old man immediately but asked, "Do you know how much money you lost?"

"Isn't it fifty? I saw it," the old man immediately replied.

The woman shook her head, "No, it's not fifty yuan."

The old man was a bit angry, "I clearly saw it. I saw you pick it up from the ground. Don't think that because I'm over fifty, I have bad eyesight."

The woman continued shaking her head and then pointed to the surveillance cameras not far on the roadside, "There are several cameras over there. Are you sure this money is yours? We can go to the police station to check the footage right now."

Upon hearing this, the old man's face changed, and he said irritably, "Forget it, forget it, just treat it as if I gave this money to the beggar."

After saying that, the old man immediately turned and left.

Soon, several onlookers had gathered around. Seeing the old man's reaction, they all knew he was trying to claim the money fraudulently, and they couldn't help but laugh, showing disdainful expressions.

However, this situation also discouraged others who hoped to take advantage. After all, this beautiful woman wasn't easily fooled, and there were several surveillance cameras nearby.

Chen Feng, however, didn't want to waste any more time here. He turned to leave again, but the woman called out to him once more, "Brother, you need to stay and be my witness."

Chen Feng pretended not to hear. He didn't want to waste time and turned away from the crowd, heading into the market.

This market was large, not only bustling inside but also busy outside, with numerous shops, especially snack stands that took up half of the left street, along with grocery stores and more.

Chen Feng, familiar with the place, came to the snack street and went to a stall selling salted cake. He ordered one, paid via a quick scan, and soon immersed himself in eating, quickly putting the previous incident behind him.

After eating the salted cake, Chen Feng bought a pound of fried rice cakes, which tasted surprisingly authentic, reminiscent of his childhood. He ate several pieces until he felt dry in his throat and then stopped.

Conveniently, there was a convenience store not far away. He went in to buy a bottle of purified water and drank more than half of it in one go. After enjoying the air conditioning for a while, he stepped out.

Walking a little further, he unexpectedly ran into the woman who had picked up the money earlier.

Initially, Chen Feng acted as if he didn't see her and pretended not to know her, which was indeed true as they were strangers.

Just as he was about to lower his head and walk away, the woman, wearing high-heeled sandals, walked up to him with a clacking sound and blocked his path.

"Why did you leave earlier?" The woman looked at him with a slightly aggrieved expression.

Chen Feng was speechless again, wondering if fate was playing a romantic trick on him.

The woman seemed quite charming, but he really wasn't interested. He already had plenty.

Seeing that Chen Feng didn't immediately respond, the woman furrowed her brow and asked, "Do you have a problem with me?"

Chen Feng shook his head and replied expressionlessly, "Picking up money doesn't seem to have anything to do with me, right? Wasn't it normal for me to leave?"

The woman frowned, "Didn't I ask you to help by being a witness?"

Chen Feng replied irritably, "Aren't there cameras there? What do you need me as a witness for?"

"Do you really think I'd waste time going to the police station to check the footage?" The woman looked at him with a strange expression.

Chen Feng felt a bit offended by her look and frowned, "Have you resolved it now? What did you do with the fifty yuan?"

The woman snorted, "There was a donation event by the market, so I just donated the fifty yuan."

Chen Feng laughed, "That's good. You helped the person who lost the money do a good deed. It's much better than letting someone else use it." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"But I think you aren't gentlemanly enough, making me, a woman, stand there waiting. Doesn't that bother you?"

"This really wasn't my business in the first place. Why should it bother me?"

Chen Feng rolled his eyes at her and was about to walk past her, but she blocked him again.

"Do you still have something to say?" Chen Feng was becoming a bit annoyed. This woman was apparently being unreasonable.

"I feel we're fated, bumping into each other twice. Even though my impression of you isn't great, I believe in fate and would like to get to know you. Scan me."

As she spoke, the woman fiddled with her phone, showing her WeChat QR code to Chen Feng.

Chen Feng squinted slightly, feeling something was off, but he didn't want to waste more time. He took out his phone and scanned her code, adding her as a friend.

The verification was quickly approved. While operating her phone, the woman asked seemingly casually, "What's your name?"

"Chen Weidong, and you?" Chen Feng asked just as nonchalantly.

"Tian Xiaoman," the woman replied casually, then put away her phone and said, "Alright, I'm off."

She then stepped past Chen Feng, brushing by him without any intention to chat further.

Chen Feng paused briefly, shook his head, and didn't turn to watch her leave. He continued walking around the market, finally heading into it, reaching the deli section, and buying a sesame oil duck and half a smoked chicken to take away. But given the hot weather, these would spoil quickly if not refrigerated.

Luckily, Chen Feng didn't plan to stay in town for long. He intended to head home right after shopping. The summer heat made staying outside uncomfortable; it was better to relax in air conditioning at home.

Carrying his purchases of deli meats and fried rice cakes, Chen Feng headed out.

Exiting the market, he walked to his parked Cayenne by the road.

Taking out the car key, he pressed the remote and was about to open the car door when he heard someone calling, "Chen Weidong."

At first, Chen Feng didn't react. It wasn't until the voice called "Chen Weidong" again, sounding familiar and not far behind him, that he turned to see Tian Xiaoman standing there. She was holding a sun umbrella, with a small bag on her shoulder and a red plastic bag in her hand.
