After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 1093 - 577: Too Softhearted (Part 2)
The university she is currently attending is East Sea Business University, and she’s in her senior year. Surprisingly, she shares the same school with Chen Feng’s cousin, even being her senior. It’s quite a coincidence.
Eventually, she mentioned that during her sophomore year, by chance, she met Wen Jing, and under her influence, she started working as a part-time tour guide together with her.
What she said was undoubtedly the truth, as there was no need to deceive him.
While she paused to drink tea, Chen Feng asked, "Have you ever been in a relationship?"
Jiang Xiaoshan hesitated for a moment before reluctantly saying, "I had one during high school. Back then, I was naive and got deceived by a handsome and academically outstanding male classmate. We had initially agreed to attend university in Xiu Zhou together. However, he scored much higher than me on the college entrance exam, but didn’t make the cut for East Sea University, and looked down on other universities in Xiu Zhou. Eventually, he applied to a university in Beijing. During the first semester, he found himself another girlfriend. If someone hadn’t told me, I would have been kept in the dark."
Chen Feng nodded, then pressed further, "Just that one relationship? Didn’t date anyone in college?"
Jiang Xiaoshan immediately shook her head, "No. After that failed relationship, I didn’t have much confidence in men and love. So, even though many guys pursued me, I didn’t accept any of them."
Hearing her story, Chen Feng somewhat understood the reasons behind her taking up a part-time job. If she hadn’t experienced that failed romance, or if she currently had a boyfriend, she might not have gone for a part-time job.
No woman is naturally inclined to sell her body.
"Are you in dire need of money now?" Chen Feng continued to ask.
"Of course I am, just the rent alone costs me three thousand a month," Jiang Xiaoshan complained, "In addition, there are other living expenses which, even on a tight budget, would sum up to at least three or four thousand. Altogether, my monthly expenses are at least seven to eight thousand."
Chen Feng shook his head and said, "That’s not a small expense. Seven to eight thousand a month—many people don’t even earn that much in a month."
"Everyone has their own way of living. I think I should live a high-quality life, or else this life would feel too much of a failure."
Chen Feng laughed and said, "So you took up a part-time job to sustain this high-quality lifestyle."
Feeling slightly guilty, Jiang Xiaoshan said, "Yes, I had no choice."
Chen Feng didn’t respond further, instead picked up pistachios and began eating. Seeing this, Jiang Xiaoshan quickly helped Chen Feng shell the pistachios, placing them in front of him once shelled.
Chen Feng was not polite either, eating the pistachios while sipping tea.
After refilling Chen Feng’s tea, Jiang Xiaoshan tentatively asked, "Brother, can you sign me directly into your company? Since you’re the boss, signing a person shouldn’t be too difficult, right?"
Chen Feng chuckled, "Of course, it’s not difficult, but we’ve just met. Tell me, on what basis should I break the company’s rules to sign you especially?"
Jiang Xiaoshan bit her lip and said, "I... I can be your woman, as long as you sign me and help me become a star."
Upon hearing this, Chen Feng laughed heartily, "Do you think an owner of a film company like me lacks women? Also, do you think you are worth a lot?"
Embarrassed and annoyed by his blunt words, Jiang Xiaoshan blushed but couldn’t react and had to suppress her anger, muttering, "Then why did you come to meet me? Why are you being so nice?"
Unfazed, Chen Feng shook his head, "Don’t overthink it. I told you from the beginning, I’m suddenly in a charitable mood, wanting to set you on the right path, not because I have any interest in you as a person. I hope to offer you a new way of life, to steer you towards the right path. But there’s no way I can fully pave your way to uprightness, after all, we’re not connected in any significant way, so I’m merely offering you a chance to go the right way."
These words struck Jiang Xiaoshan hard again, leaving her gnashing her teeth and controlling her emotions, softly saying, "You give me hope, yet you can’t give me a guarantee."
"This is something I can’t promise, or guarantee. Even if I agree to sign you, there’s no guarantee you’ll become a star. This depends on your capabilities and luck."
Saying this, Chen Feng took a sip of tea, checked the time on his phone, and said, "Let’s end here today. If you’re interested in becoming a trainee, you can report to Fengmang Film and Television Company in the next day or two. If not, there’s no need to go. I certainly can’t offer you any guarantees."
"What will it take for you to give me a guarantee? I’ll agree to anything I can manage."
Jiang Xiaoshan looked at him with pleading eyes.
Chen Feng stood up, shaking his head, "I’m already being too soft-hearted by coming to meet you and introducing you to the company. It’s impossible for me to make exceptions anymore. If you don’t even have a little bit of confidence in formally signing with my company, then just forget about being a trainee. Just act like none of this happened."
Having said that, Chen Feng turned and walked toward the door.
Jiang Xiaoshan suddenly rushed over, hugging him from behind, pleading, "Brother, please give me a chance, let me officially sign with your company. I’m willing to do whatever you ask."
Feeling her warm body on his back, Chen Feng eventually softened, sighing, "Start in the company as a trainee, and as long as your performance in training is not too poor, there’s no reason for the company not to sign you, unless you’re really inept."
Jiang Xiaoshan did not immediately understand the implication of his words. After pondering for a moment, she rejoiced, saying, "Thank you, brother. I understand, I will train earnestly and practice diligently. I definitely won’t disappoint you."
"Alright, let go of me. Also, settle the bill later."
"Ah... okay, I’ll handle the bill."
Once Jiang Xiaoshan let go, Chen Feng headed straight to the door. Upon reaching the door, he stopped and turned back, "Make sure to cherish this opportunity, report to the company tomorrow at best, and never take a part-time job again. Otherwise, if you become famous, your past clients might expose your dark history."
After saying this, without looking at Jiang Xiaoshan’s expression, Chen Feng left.
With her expression changing, Jiang Xiaoshan couldn’t help but think of those past clients she had, not dozens, but at least a dozen, most of whom had taken pictures with her.
The only consolation was that these pictures weren’t of an intimate nature.
Yet, even so, Jiang Xiaoshan felt some regret. Had she known she might become a celebrity, she certainly wouldn’t have foolishly taken part-time jobs.
