After my divorce, I started to have good luck-Chapter 1092 - 577: Too Softhearted
In the tea room, soothing music plays, and outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, cars come and go, creating a sense of peace amidst the hustle and bustle.
Chen Feng looked at Jiang Xiaoshan’s bright eyes, just about to respond, when a knock on the door sounded.
Then, the waiter came in carrying a pot of tea and a plate of pistachios.
After the waiter placed everything down and left, Jiang Xiaoshan couldn’t wait to ask again, "Brother, you still haven’t answered me yet?"
Chen Feng looked at her leisurely and shook his head, saying, "You’re quite oblivious."
Jiang Xiaoshan was taken aback, then quickly reacted, immediately extending her hand to stand up, bending halfway to pour tea for Chen Feng.
"Brother, have some tea." Jiang Xiaoshan said with a sycophantic smile, her voice soft and tender.
Chen Feng smiled, picked up the teacup—it was a bit hot—and blew on it, taking a small sip before nodding slowly, "I really am the boss of Fengmang Film and Television Company."
Upon confirming her suspicion, Jiang Xiaoshan suddenly felt like she had been hit by a pie from the sky, overwhelmed with surprise but forgetting how to react.
"I’m the company boss, but I don’t usually manage the daily operations. So, at most I can give you an opportunity, but whether you can grasp it depends on your ability."
After Chen Feng said this, Jiang Xiaoshan finally snapped back to reality. She immediately stood up, walked over to Chen Feng, and before he could react, sat down beside him, wrapping her arms around his waist and leaning against him.
"Brother, I’ll do whatever you want, I’ll follow your lead."
Jiang Xiaoshan’s sudden embrace caught Chen Feng off guard; it was too straightforward, too direct—are all girls like this now?
"Alright, sit back down."
Though slightly enjoying the feeling of having a soft beauty in his arms, Chen Feng wasn’t the type of man who hadn’t seen beautiful women before, so he immediately put on a stern face and reprimanded her.
"Brother, I’m being serious, I’ll do anything, I’ll listen to you."
Jiang Xiaoshan thought Chen Feng was pretending to be serious, and she posed like a seductive woman, writhing in his arms, while one hand reached directly downward.
Chen Feng frowned and grabbed her mischievous hand, his face sinking, and said irritably, "If you do that again, I’m leaving."
Seeing Chen Feng’s expression, Jiang Xiaoshan doubted it was fake and froze.
"Brother, what’s this...?"
Jiang Xiaoshan was a bit confused: Chen Feng had agreed to meet her, and had just said she should seize this opportunity. Wasn’t it clear he intended to exploit her?
But now he’s suddenly acting so serious.
"Sit back down."
Chen Feng again commanded sternly.
Only then did Jiang Xiaoshan, full of doubt, reluctantly sit back across from him.
"Let me be clear, I’m not interested in you or Wen Jing. The reason I’m giving you an opportunity is I hope you can turn over a new leaf and stop doing side jobs. Consider it my goodwill towards you. Of course, whether you can seize this chance and meet our company’s signed artist requirements depends on your talent and effort."
Chen Feng’s words were too blunt; the term "turn over a new leaf" was quite hurtful, and Jiang Xiaoshan’s smile vanished, her self-esteem feeling stomped upon.
"You might have misunderstood, I’m really not doing the kind of side jobs you think. Wen Jing and I just work part-time as tour guides, nothing else."
Jiang Xiaoshan certainly wouldn’t admit to doing such side jobs, or else it would be too degrading; she’d deny it vehemently at this point.
Chen Feng didn’t argue with her anymore, just smiled at her and said, "Whether you did those side jobs before is irrelevant; what matters is now and the future. I know young, attractive girls like you are easily dazzled by this flashy world, chasing high material consumption and a refined life, which is understandable. But selling your body and dignity for a better life is definitely wrong. That’s why I’m offering you this opportunity."
"I’m really not..."
Jiang Xiaoshan wanted to deny further, but Chen Feng raised his hand to interrupt, "Alright, regardless, are you taking this opportunity or not?"
"Of course I am." Jiang Xiaoshan nodded frantically.
"That’s settled. I’ll give you a chance to join my company as a trainee. After one to two months of training, you’ll undergo our company’s evaluation; if you pass, you can become a signed artist. If not, you’ll be eliminated."
"Brother, does there have to be elimination? Can’t we skip that part?" Jiang Xiaoshan pleaded with a flattering voice, "I promise I’ll train hard, practice diligently, until I meet the company’s signed artist standards."
Chen Feng shook his head and said, "The company has its rules, and I must respect the current leadership managing the company. If you’re still unqualified after training, it might mean you’re not fit for this industry and should consider switching to another legitimate career, which might still have prospects." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"But I really want to be a star." Jiang Xiaoshan clasped her hands together, looking pitifully and eagerly, "Brother, why not give me a backdoor, sign me directly; I promise I’ll work hard for you, earn money for you and the company."
There’s no denying that being pleaded by such a youthful and beautiful girl was quite delightful. Under her pleading and plaintive gaze, Chen Feng took a sip of tea slowly before speaking, "Besides your name, I don’t know much about you, so I can’t vouch for you. Introducing you as a trainee is already showing great kindness. Not everyone gets such an opportunity."
"Yes, yes, I definitely know this opportunity is really precious. I’m also very grateful you’re giving me this chance. Furthermore, I can share my own story, so you know more about me."
Chen Feng nodded and said, "Alright, then tell me about yourself. I want to hear the truth; if you lie, I won’t be interested in listening anymore."
He was bored at home, hence deciding to meet her, and since he was here, he naturally wanted to learn more, mainly about her past.
It’s not that he’s interested in her as a person; rather, he’s intrigued by her past life, just treating it as listening to a story.
"Of course, I’ll definitely tell you the truth." Jiang Xiaoshan quickly assured.
Chen Feng looked at her, half-smiling, and said, "I hope you mean what you say; remember, I like honest people."
Jiang Xiaoshan felt a slight blockage in her heart but still said, "I promise what I’m about to say is all true."
"Alright, go ahead." Chen Feng urged.
And so Jiang Xiaoshan began to tell her story.
She was born in Jiangxi Province, in a small county town. Her parents were honest office workers, her family wasn’t wealthy but could be considered middle-class. She was an only child and loved singing and dancing since childhood. In elementary school, her parents even sent her to a youth center to learn dance. Her academic performance was consistently above average, steady, including the university she was admitted to a few years ago, which was also above average.
