After My Death, the Love-struck CEO Begs for Reconciliation-Chapter 29 - 30:
Serena Sullivan finally escaped.
In that mental institution, under Julian Lancaster’s orders, she was forced to ingest various medications every day, undergoing treatments she could never understand.
She wasn’t allowed to see anyone, sustaining her life only through IVs. She felt she was going crazy; she felt Julian was crazier, how could he push himself to this extent because of her?
So she took advantage of the nurse’s shift change, tore off the restraints on her, and escaped, fled from this prison built for her.
But she was too nervous to notice a black Maybach not far from the hospital. Its owner stared at the woman’s panicked back and made a phone call.
Caleb Crawford was drowning his sorrows in a bar. The last time, he’d been tricked by Serena Sullivan, believing in a sincere reconciliation. Full of joy, he rushed over, only to be beaten for three days and nights by the five burly men Serena had summoned, leaving him with no unscathed skin when he came out. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Caleb, you want to be with me?" Caleb’s head was stomped to the ground by those men, as he watched Serena Sullivan walk over with a cold smile, her seven-centimeter stilettos pressing on his palm.
"You’re not worthy."
Those three careless words executed his true feelings.
"Make it discreet, don’t kill anyone."
Since then, he could no longer find his footing in Keston, so he moved to the adjacent Zenton, working as a bartender in a bar. When Julian Lancaster’s call came, he was evidently shocked.
"What’s the matter?" His tone was unpleasant; he wanted nothing to do with these lunatics anymore.
On the other end of the call, there was prolonged silence, so long that Caleb thought it was a mistake. Just as he was about to hang up, cursing, Julian’s hoarse voice came through.
"Do you want revenge?"
Serena Sullivan had just rounded a corner, ready to seek help from people by the roadside. However, the man on the roadside seemed to have been waiting for her a long time and eagerly invited her into the car.
Serena was forcibly pulled inside before she could think. She finally realized something was wrong, but days of torment had drained all her strength.
Serena Sullivan was awakened by the movements on her body. She opened her eyes, shocked to find herself in a hotel with her mouth taped shut and the person moving on her was Caleb Crawford, who had lost a hand.
Seeing Serena’s fearful gaze fixated on him, Caleb panted angrily and glared at her, "What? Don’t recognize your old flame?"
"What are you looking at my hand for, isn’t this your doing?"
Back then, those men mocked him for daring to covet Julian Lancaster’s woman, forcibly breaking one of his hands. And now, the instigator was showing a fearful look at her own wrongdoing.
Caleb sneered, about to proceed, but Serena suddenly grew fierce. Her survival instinct didn’t allow her time to think; in panic, she grabbed the ashtray from the bedside table without recognizing it and smashed it onto his head.
Caleb fell in pain, Serena suppressed her discomfort, intending to dress and rush out, but was grabbed by the nearly frenzied Caleb.
