After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret-Chapter 30: Hannah Grant’s Space
"What are they thinking, wandering around in the rain like this? Do they have a death wish?"
The driver, Lewis, switched on the car’s hazard lights, hoping the three of them would notice.
They had come specifically to inspect the final cleanup in this area, just in case any survivors had been missed.
"They don’t look like survivors."
Elijah Young observed them for a moment. The three of them were clearly very well-equipped.
Two of them walked with a light spring in their step, not looking distressed in the slightest.
And it seemed the trio had noticed their vehicle as well.
One of them, a tall guy, even waved at them, hopping up and down to get their attention.
From inside his raincoat, Leo Hale gave the car a thumbs-up.
As they’d been walking, they saw that all the survivors on this road had already been evacuated. This made him deeply appreciate the rescue team’s efforts.
Too bad the people in the car couldn’t hear his praise.
"Turn off the hazards. They don’t need our help."
Elijah Young was speechless.
’Are these three just messing around?’
"Alright, let’s get a move on."
Nina Jacobs’s ears were filled with the sound of Leo Hale’s shouting.
That was obviously a rescue vehicle, and the people inside were probably asking if they needed help.
But Leo Hale had mistaken it for someone waving hello to him.
"Leo’s been like this since he was a kid.
Sometimes he just focuses on completely different things than everyone else."
Chelsea Walsh was panting with exhaustion. She realized she was the weakest of the three.
’Looks like I’ll have to start working out more.’
Fortunately, they hadn’t walked much farther before Nina Jacobs, as if by magic, produced a car from the side of the road. Only then did Chelsea feel like she had been brought back to life.
After struggling out of his raincoat, Leo Hale also breathed a sigh of relief.
"The rescue teams are arriving in waves. The situation should start improving now, right?"
"Yeah. Once this acid rain is over, I’m definitely treating you guys to a big meal. You can all try my cooking," Chelsea Walsh added, full of anticipation.
In their minds, the disaster had to end someday. Once it was all over, things would gradually return to normal.
Nina Jacobs drove on in silence.
Meanwhile, Leo Hale and Chelsea Walsh were lost in their daydreams about the future.
Just then, a figure up ahead slammed into the front of the car with a THUD.
"Did we hit someone?"
Leo Hale and Chelsea Walsh both broke out in a cold sweat.
"It hit my car," Nina Jacobs said calmly.
"...Is there a difference?"
Leo Hale felt they were in big trouble.
But then Chelsea Walsh looked behind them in horror.
"It’s getting up!
It’s coming over!"
’Who gets sent flying by a car and just gets back up?’
"You’re right. That’s not a person anymore."
Nina Jacobs had already seen the situation behind them in the rearview mirror.
That was clearly a zombie.
A zombie that had crawled out of the standing water on the ground.
That’s why it suddenly appeared in front of her car.
So she revved the engine, threw the car in reverse, and slammed back into it.
The tires rolled over the zombie’s head, and Nina Jacobs saw her system’s Experience Points slowly increase by 1.
Chelsea Walsh was too scared to speak.
"Just like that mutated friend of yours. Once they’re dead, they’re dead."
Leo Hale was beginning to accept the reality of killing zombies.
"Really?"
Chelsea Walsh’s voice was still trembling.
But Nina Jacobs felt something was off.
The way that zombie appeared just now was too strange.
’Maybe the apocalypse is speeding up...’
"You guys, look at your phones! How is this person’s hand shooting sparks?!"
Chelsea Walsh had just been trying to distract herself with her phone when she came across an incredible video.
"Oh, that?
Nina Jacobs can do that too."
Leo Hale wasn’t surprised at all.
In fact, he’d seen videos like that early this morning.
Not just in Drakonia, but in countries all over the world.
"What did you say?"
Chelsea Walsh’s eyes suddenly lit up.
’Starting a fire without any fuel or special equipment... What kind of god-tier ability is that?!’
「Prosperity Gardens, Villa 32.」
Renee Strong had also awakened a Superpower.
Just like in her previous life, she had a Healing Element Superpower.
After discovering her Superpower, Renee Strong finally breathed a sigh of relief.
’Deep down, she was still afraid she wouldn’t awaken a Superpower in this life.’
After all, Liam Grant hadn’t shown any signs of a Superpower yet.
"Brother, I have a Special Ability now, too!"
Hannah Grant burst through the door with a BANG and shouted in delight.
Liam Grant also hadn’t expected his younger sister to awaken a Space Superpower.
"That’s great!"
Renee Strong was very happy.
’Doesn’t this mean we don’t have to worry about finding a Space Superpower User anymore?’
"Hannah, how big is your space?" Simon Abbott didn’t forget to ask.
"How big?"
Hannah Grant closed her eyes and felt it for a while.
However, her answer left the others extremely disappointed.
Hannah Grant’s space was too small.
"Is it only the size of a bathroom?"
Renee Strong found it hard to believe.
In their past life, they never worried about Nina Jacobs’s space being too small.
But now Hannah Grant’s space probably couldn’t even hold a tenth of the supplies in their villa.
"Hannah is still young. Superpowers can be upgraded."
Liam Grant firmly believed that Hannah Grant would definitely not lose to Nina Jacobs.
After all, in their previous life, Nina Jacobs’s Space Superpower had upgraded particularly quickly.
Hannah Grant lowered her head and said no more.
Actually, her space was the size of the small bathroom in their old home.
It was just that the gazes of Liam Grant and the others were too eager just now, and she couldn’t bear to disappoint them.
"This is a good thing. As long as you become a Superpower User, the future holds infinite possibilities. But Strong, are there still no leads on Ian Chandler?"
After sending Hannah Grant away, Simon Abbott asked.
For the past two days, they had focused all their energy on finding Ian Chandler.
But they hadn’t found any leads among the survivors.
They were beginning to wonder if Renee Strong had misremembered.
Renee Strong shook her head in disappointment.
She was sure she hadn’t remembered wrong. In her previous life, Ian Chandler had indeed told her he had been here.
And that he had been brought here by those perverts.
"Is it possible he’s not among the survivors right now, but in someone else’s house?"
Simon Abbott’s words made Renee Strong’s heart skip a beat.
’That’s right... what if the people who abducted Ian Chandler went to someone else’s house?’
Just because they don’t open their door doesn’t mean others won’t.
"Doesn’t Nina Jacobs also live here?
Do you think it’s possible that the two of them might meet in this life too?
Just like how we met her again, what do you call that?
It’s called fate!"
Ivan Lawson said, toying with a thin Wood Element twig in his hand.
His casual remark sent everyone present into deep thought.
If there really was some accidental or fated connection between people, then the people and events from their past life were likely to be similar in this one.
"I’ll go. After all, I was the one who healed Ian Chandler in our past life," Renee Strong said, standing up.
"You?
You stole her man. You think she’s going to have a civil conversation with you?"
For the first time, Ivan Lawson thought Renee Strong was utterly shameless.
’But why didn’t I notice it at all in our past life?’
"If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything. Renee didn’t do anything wrong."
Liam Grant glared at Ivan Lawson.
"What if Ian Chandler really is at Nina Jacobs’s place?" Renee Strong asked.
"I think it’s time to bring Wyatt Jacobs back," Simon Abbott suggested.
Since Shannon Renner wasn’t reborn, they had arranged for Wyatt Jacobs to stay by her side.
One reason was to protect her, and the second was fear that Shannon Renner would be poached by other factions.
After all, Shannon Renner would become an outstanding Water Element Superpower User in the future.
But now, Wyatt Jacobs was the only one who could infiltrate their group...
